FILM DESCRIPTION:
Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a Navy bomb expert, has just reunited with his family in San Francisco when he is forced to go to Japan to help his estranged father, Joe (Bryan Cranston). This movie did an excellent job at making the monsters feel huge. Those many camera angles from the humans’ point of view really aided in that.

Not every godzilla film has to have a human perspective of the kaiju when we can have a perspective from their point of view which is arguably the more interesting POV. We already know what human POV looks like as it is.

The monsters scenes were really dark and hard to tell what's going on in 2014. Glad they fixed that in 2019.
i could not see a thing when mothra and rodan was fighting. all i could see was big wings flapping about, kinda dissapointing. still they both had really good awakening scenes

Ethan C i genuinely despise films that put everything in plain sight for you to not have to decode. it’s like the main issue with the star wars sequels. the good thing about the originals is nothing is really completely explained whereas the sequels pretty much lay out an entire instructions board in front of you taking away from the magic and curiosity. the former is what i felt here. i’m happy that i actually had to dive into the explanations in the comics and wikis of this monster rather than it all being explained to me (as if godzilla was gonna pause in the movie and start giving a detailed rundown on why his breath wasn’t as powerful as it could be)

High in my top 10 movie theater moments, ever.
As a lifelong Godzilla fan, this movie was like a gift directly to me-and this scene caught me off guard. For some reason I hadn’t expected him to have the atomic breath. So to see the tail glowing blue, I flew forward in my seat and I think I said “OH MY GOD” out loud. Luckily the rest of the theater was vocally ecstatic, too!

I remember this moment in theaters. I honestly didn’t think he’d use Atomic Breath in this movie but the moment his tail flew up, and the BASS filled the room, I almost dropped all my popcorn from the hype. Perfect moment
The reason why godzilla's atomic breath looked faint in color was because Muto EMP attacks weaken Godzilla's atomic breath, it had nothing to do with godzilla being younger during this movie, as godzilla is millions upon millions of years old. In the novelization lore, Mutos are a parasite that prey on godzilla specimens to use as a source of radiation for their offspring. The strongest MUTO being MUTO Primes which are the result of Female MUTOs living long enough to transform into "Queen" MUTOs then into MUTO Prime, Muto Primes when they defeat a fallen Godzilla, will inject eggs into the host, that will feed and grow until the host dies, Another Godzilla specimen Dubbed as "Dagon" lost his life after a long fierce battle against The Muto Prime and the eggs eventually hatched which is these two Male and Female MUTO we see in the movie.

The best still in the monsterverse. I really love how they visualize the fight scene. And it pictures how big they are even tho it looked like they moving slow.

KOTM definitely lessened the feeling of how big they are a bit, but they still felt massive to me. The sense of scale has been completely lost with the latest entries
This movie was a series of missed opportunities when it came to the monsters being on screen, but I remember everyone in my theater cheering soon as that Atomic Breath was fully charged and blasted the crowd. Awesome movie-going moment.

That was napalm that burns as hot as balistic magma (1200°C) and even then the burns Kong withstood were medium at best considering that napalm inflicts burns so deep that the body will not be able to heal them, it sticks to the skin and melts the flesh and the body is covered in viscous magma that resembles tar, it can't be put out by water and if you jump into the water you will literally boil to death as napalm has a temperature 12x hotter than the boiling point of water.. Kong was barely left with flaming embers and smouldering furr and he was up to his waist in the water. The fire didn't actually burn off his skin or his fur. Kong fainted because napalm inflicts carbon monoxide poisoning killing by suffocation if it doesn't burn /boil you to death and an ape that size needs a lot of oxygen.
Another furry mammalian titan showed a very impressive durability feat in the novelization this being Behemoth.
The outposts where Monarch contained the titans have killswitches meant to kill the titan should it escape. The killswitch of Behemot's Outpost kills by you guess it incineration with white blue flames that are far hotter than normal fire or napalm.
White flames burn at temperatures of between 2400 - 2700 °F/1300-1500°C while blue flames burn the hottest of them all 2600-3000 °F/1400-1650°C.That's as hot as atmospheric re-entry. Behemoth withstood those flames unscathed and is also immune to conventional weaponry like Godzilla himself. So it seems that mammalian titans become immune to human weaponry and get fireproof furr when they become adults.
There was six scripts from the writers room, Kong winning 2 of the 6. The only Kaiju film that nobody knows who win which makes the crossover film special. The bragging rights last forever. Someone said Godzilla wins the fight and Kong wins the film.

1:45 due the panic that soldier was feeling. I always feel so bad for the soldiers in these movies cause there's no way they'd ever survive these things and I think they know that. They know their bullets and rockets wont do jack to them but it's all they can do since they can't run away in time.
Also I never noticed until my 13th time watching the movie that Godzilla's tail spikes actually severed the male MUTO's leg.
I remember my family and I saw this in theaters and when he was charging up, this one dude yelled out "OH SNAP, HE FINNA DO IT!" (everyone laughed of course). Then at 0:15, that theater was so loud. People were clapping and cheering and hooting and hollering. It was amazing~

1:56 that scream the MUTO let out was something else, it was cute how it thought its tiny bite could hurt something the size of Godzilla. When in return Godzilla who is almost 3 times his size chomped down it came with enough crushing force that could have snapped that MUTO in two on top of being flung into a building. Incredible it could fly after that.

The visual and sound design in this movie was off the chain
2014 managed to do the lighting just right. Always leaving you with wanting more, while not leaving you annoyed by not being able to see anything. The use of shadows and darkness really made Godzilla stand out even more.
I remember hearing a theory that the monster from Cloverfield could be a monster from the Godzilla universe. I always loved to imagine what that would look like. New York is destroyed by this seemingly unstoppable monster, and then Godzilla comes in and "saves" the city.

I saw this movie when it was playing at the theatres and I also saw the trailers for it and I have to say that at first I thought it was gonna be like the 1998 film where we barely saw the monster or in this case monsters but I really liked the new Godzilla design as they said in the special features on the dvd that they wanted to show what Godzilla would have been like if he was created by mother nature instead of man and when I saw the power up scene of the atomic breath I almost lost it in the theatre because this was a true Godzilla not that mutated iguana we got and I also especially liked the ending of the movie where they all just stood there in awe as they watched Godzilla return to the sea and those words on that giant screen in the stadium 'Savior of our City King of the Monsters' and Godzilla roaring as the jets flew past as he dove into the bay and swam off and disappeared beneath the waves showed that this was the greatest Godzilla film ever made in America and showed the true spirit of the King of the Monsters and I'm sure when it premeired in Japan Haruo Nakajima was probably smiling from ear to ear when he saw it like all the other people who worked at Toho Studios the birthplace of Godzilla and I'm also sure if he was still alive Tomoyuki Tanaka would have felt the same being the creator of the original Godzilla going all the way back to 1954.

I remember this feeling when I was 14 years young I got chills and I was screaming inside my head saying Nooooo Waaaaaaay!!!!! It was the best experience I had in theaters I was glad I saw it in theaters
When it’s Godzilla that’s what happens
this movie was better than kotm as in this had a good, non complicated storyline with good characters and really good cgi. i LOVED kotm but there were parts where it just got a bit too much for example when rodan and mothra were fighting i couldnt even see what was going on at all, it was a mess. when ghidorah picked up godzilla through the clouds it just didnt look great. BOTH really good movies though. i hope gvk is a mixture of both 2014 and kotm.
