Or you say to Emily’s daughter, I won’t tell your mom, but I will be with you while you tell her. It’s your job and your responsibility to speak to your mom and take ownership of your mistakes. We’ll do it together.

I am a teacher, students have said to me " You snitched on me". An adult in charge cannot snitch. Snitching is what friends may do or people with the same level of authority.

Tell, or help the daughter to come clean to her mother. Drinking can lead to losing your kid, in more ways than one.

How can anyone “forget” a birthday or any special day if it’s important to them with smart phones and social media so easily popping up to remind you…

Because the problem probably wasn’t the friends, it was her.

The letter said "came over for a sleepover and had too much to drink" which says to me that Mom was serving underaged kids at her house. If that's the case, she's got bigger fish to fry than whether or not to tell Emily about her daughter's drinking. WTH are parents doing????

If five people (who are good enough friends and family to be in your will) forget your birthday then the problem probably isn’t them but you. Just saying.

Hoda and Jenna, I think the friend's mother should definitely be told. Look, underage drinking is a crime! The risk is that the mother will not allow her daughter to be continue being friends with the mother's daughter.
Listen, Hoda and Jenna, birthdays are very hard to remember. I am not very good with memorizing words and numbers, and I rely very much on writing things down. I don't understand what's so offensive here. The relationship is always more important than forgetting a silly date. Could this woman be just a little bit pushy?☺

Jenna I like you but come on. Take a good hard look at your past. Did your mom do this for your friends. Mind your business.
