The cinematic makes it look like a guy from a motorcycle bar walking across a line of captured cosplayers from an anime convention. Like, you got anime hair physics next to just a regular dude
In 2017, Harada himself agreed with you. Harada had asked people to tweet guest character ideas, someone said Negan, lots of people liked and retweeted it, and Harada replied that in his opinion Negan was too weak as a fighter. Which raises the question of whether Negan's eventual appearance in Tekken 7 was ultimately Harada's wish, or whether it was pushed upon him.
In that case, you really have to wonder just who at Namco really wanted this to happen? It definitely does scream of moronic higher-ups meddling in affairs they have no business messing around with. "This'll really help get the attention of the North American market, according to these charts they love this guy!"
You know how Telltale's game from a few years ago did really well and how there's still a few newer walking dead games to this day? I'm pretty sure it's AMC trying to get in on the "gamer" crowd since TWD's popularity is starting to fall. AMC probably approached the big guys at Bamco and the big wigs made the Tekken team add him because they paid them for it. At least that's what some people think
Oddly enough, if I were to put Negan in a fighting game...it would be Mortal Kombat. Yeah, sure, that game has gods, ninjas, robots, and buff martial artists, but a lot of the cast is still just normal humans. Add in Negan's thirst for violence and outright cruelty, and it just feels like he'd be perfect there.
I don't really agree because a lot of fun of a Guest Character can come from how their stuff has to be re-interpretted. For example, Cloud in Smash Brothers is actually a really well adapted Guest Character, he's from an RPG with an active time battle system that's made for a lot of waiting so he's designed with a fighting style that encourages players to try and hold off on playing purely rushdown because you can charge his moves to make them more powerful, which also adds a strategic element to his gameplay of whether to use your charge in the moment or to save it to be used defensively for off-stage recovery. Sure, the character, itself, can be rough to fight against, but it's a really strong representation of FF7 that uses the unique aspects of that game to make Cloud a memorable opponent, which adds to the strength of his design as a character overall.
Link's a poor example, as he wasn't fitting either. I know he's got a lot of fans, but be objective. I mean, similar themes and gameplay? What themes and gameplay does Zelda have in common with SC? That Link has a sword? He's an esp weird pick for an example given there's a much better one from an SC game that just came out: Geralt in SCVI. Hell, Akuma and Geese in Tekken are even better examples.
I would rephrase that. I would say that the best guest characters are those that can have aspects from their game implemented well. This is why I consider Akuma/Geese the best guest characters of all time
His face also is too photo realistic compared to rest of the cast. Sure everyone is 3DCG but Tekken has always had this animesque or surreal look to their characters.
4:47 my thoughts exactly Josie would probably kick Negan's ass as well, but at least her image is that of a young, frail and scared girl. So she is acceptable in that context, but all of the others... -_- I'd have paid to see Alisa, the robot with chainsaws in her arms, in the group. That would have been the most absurd thing ever XD
Dash346 smash universe in itself is about iconic character from various popular games...its a primarily a fan service and a tribute to video game and its lore is very forgiving to accommodate new characters...thats not the case with other fighting games..like tekken and Mortal kombat...
One of the things that disappointed me about the Negan trailer was how unimpactful his signature scene was portrayed as. Negan's introduction began, both in comics and the live action, with him just murdering with his bat called Lucille with very gory discriptions and very painfully sounding bat-bashing sounds. In fact, Negan's Rage Art is the reference to Glenn's Murder. Paul was in the stand in for this particular moment, but unlike Glenn's death, which was incredibly painful and shocking , Paul's "Murder" was very unsatisfyingly limp and boring. It really does injustice to his signature moment. In that aspect, I actually agree Dead by Daylight would be perfect for Negan. His Momento Mori (the insta-death move of killers) would be the perfect omage to his scene.
@@VegaSlides Kind of a combo of both deaths...Abraham got 86'd pretty fast like Paul but Glenn took 2 hits before dying while Negan was toying with him, like in the cinematic.
@@VegaSlides It was a reference to Glenn's. Glenn in the comics was the one to be kill by Negan, Abraham wasn't even there for that scene in the comics
well you see here it's because it's a fighting game, you can't have things take a year to go on, so you gotta get back into the gameplay as soon as you can unless you're playing single-player where t7's akuma in the special chapter where getting hit by his raging demon takes a bit longer to finish because that shit's cool to watch
Joker is also inappropriate as a fighting character because everything about his character and personality is that he's not supposed to be fighting. The "strength" is not that important, that can be handwaved away for gameplay reasons, but the character should at core have fighting spirit in some for as a character trait or should be a character who has fighting skill and is often involved in fights in their own universe. For example, Rambo works. He's an "ordinary man" but he's a fighter.
@@zolikoffwell then you have ofly fighters which isn't intersting as actually having a character who either fights in a different manner or just doesn't, like Villager from Smash bros, Phenoix wright From Marvel Vs Campon 3 and kinda Joker. What matters more and what the video focuses more on is how the character fits in appliyng what makes them work as themselves into fighting game, not how powerful they are exactly. Since Neegan's character revolves around that he can't really work in Tekken since the Game isn't about that kind of Fearing brutality, just brutality clashing with what his character is about which why in canon his opponents also do deservece to his character because they are trained fighters not victims or in bloody compeition like Mortal Kombat. So as a result he can't work there because he's limited on how much he can expressed who he is. Joker he's alright, though they do make mistake of just removing a bit of his sillieness for psycophaty instead of balacing the 2 which make him special. Still any character can be in a fighting game if your creative enough, if Phenoix Wright can be a well designed implimation of his game's main Lawyering then really proves that.
@ShitpostingAtheist ShitpostingAtheist I don't even like TWD so why would I care, I just think him pulling a Glenn fatality on Scorpion sounds like a good idea
@ShitpostingAtheist I want him to be in a game that his character would be expressed accurately in, which isn't tekken. His style doesn't work in a no holds barred fighting game when his shining features come from preying on people that can't retaliate.
@@overcookedbacon5999 Regardless of which you aren't buying either in any game you aren't playing. So even less of an incentive to put the guy you actually wanna see since your money won't be talking.
@@novembermann4854 I meant after that: I wrote that comment after watching The Game Awards, which is why I think it is possible for _any_ character to come to Smash Bros now (irregardless of whether they have any association with the Nintendo platform).
So basically... Negan fights with a lazy brutish force because his opponents in the Walking Dead aren't actually trying to fight back. ... But... now when he's in Tekken his opponents very much ARE, and it creates a very weird dissonance.
So you're telling me an ex-boxing champ would be able to beat a man that knows how to use a barbed wire bat ? Negan beat Rick while he had a gun and you think he's scared of fists ?
I get that they were trying to recreate the moment Negan is most famous for in his trailer, but the 5:10 point is relevant. Only way you could really justify everyone in that lineup being scared of Negan, is if Bryan Fury had a minigun on spin for anyone thinking of trying shit. I'm still convinced that this is Harada trolling the community.
@Goliath Online Someone's mad that a character is popular. Well hey, this only legitimizes their case even further with how Kiryu shines FAR brighter than the inferior character that is Negan. So who is REALLY losing when this is just gonna make them pester weak-minded folks like yourself even more? Hell, I don't even play Tekken. I just wanna see how far this shit is pushed just to see salty fucks like yourself crumple.
Coming as a Walking Dead fan from the comics. Negan is a weird choice due to how a comic book character in terms of making a move set is a bit more difficult compared to a character say, Goku from Dragon Ball, or even a series such as Final Fantasy like Noctis as you mentioned. The Walking Dead on its own isnt very action driven with set pieces of action to enhance the plot of each arc more or less. References and nods are kinda of the way, but to make Negan play and look great as a fighting game character would possibly and please correct me if Im wrong, is making play in a way that would compliment him, like a similar Miguel or a type of either powerhouse type. However, Im not fully sure as I have yet to play Tekken.
I think the bigger problem with Negan is that in all fighting games, including Tekken, you are in a 1:1 position, where you are pretty much equal in terms of power. That alone probably doesn't do Negan justice. Negan's biggest appeal comes when there's a big imbalance of power between him and his victims. An imbalanced fighitng game (Not UNBALANCED), or even a fighting game where the players have different win conditions would be more suited for someone like Negan.
100% agreed, Negan isn't meant to be in a fighting game with characters that have flashy over the top move sets like Tekken. Maybe he would work better in MK, but even that's stretching it.
@Ultimate Hedgehog many of Jason's victims fought back. One guy punched him and almost threw him from a building. He fought a psychic girl. He fought a war robot. He fought and killed Freddy Krueger! Jason is inhuman and ridiculosly strong and durable. For that, he is on even grounds with MK characters.
A.B.I., you really have the art of making good points that will forever remain moot. Blind fandom will always win over reason and sound arguments in the end. ALWAYS.
He pretty much stated the obvious of why Negan is a terrible guest character in Tekken 7! As annoying as hearing other people keep chanting Kiryu (I would want to see Ayane), both him and her make more sense than Negan.
Ngl, Negan in Dead by Daylight may seem like a cool concept. But he would just look out of place compared to the other killers. I mean, he’s just a normal guy who lacks a mask or anything disfigured who wields a bat. Another problem, each killer has their own power. Negan’s power would be difficult to decide. Should he just rush down Survivors like a lot of killers such as The Oni, The Hillbilly and The Demogorgon? However, Negan in Dead by Daylight isn’t as weird as Negan in Tekken 7, of course.
A bit late but just wanted to say, Negan's out now and he's pretty fun to play but I agree with pretty much everything you said. Harada and the other Namcops are seriously on a weird streak with their guest characters. I feel like people are literally just blurting out random names at meetings and Harada's just like "Yeah, why not?"
Haven’t watched that series and after the announcement I still don’t get why he was announced in TEKKEN instead of Mortal Kombat for example. First Noctis and now this....
"????" Is basically how I and doubtless many people feel about this... "No one in Tekken should be afraid of Negan because he's just a man with a bat" is exactly how I felt ever since I saw that first teaser. People bring up all the other wacky characters in Tekken as a counterpoint when one says that Negan doesn't fit, but it's precisely their outlandishness that allows them to fit, while Negan's relative...normalcy makes him stick out like a sore thumb. Not only that, the things that make him threatening as a villain aren't present in Tekken at all, and can't be due to the very nature of the game. It's amazing that even Noctis fits in better than Negan does. Akuma, Geese, these are characters that are threatening because of their power and martial abilities. They're intimidating villains because they're a giant obstacle for the hero to overcome one on one against all odds, or hell even if they did gang up on them. Negan? He has his men under him, but in a fair 1 vs 1 situation you're pretty much counting on Rick to beat that ass, and if you think Rick Grimes would beat Negan, then what chance would Negan stand against a Mishima? Even Josie could beat down Negan, I mean, she fought a bear with her bare hands and either A) won by beating down the bear or B) impressed the bear enough to make it think that she put up a tough fight. 1:41 This year's TWT Finals wasn't the first. Qudans (this year's #2 using Devil Jin) was last year's champ.
True, everything Negan does Majima does better and with more personal flair. Negan is to appeal to western fans of a something fucked series since Negan's time BEEN pasted. It would have been smarter to pull the Yakuza crowd yet Harada wonders why people are negative towards him some of his choices aren't good Noctis and Negan both from dead series.
TheFVguy We can try but it’s still a jarring choice for something like Tekken. Negan looks fine, if a little underwhelming for the usual fare of the series.
@ TheFVguy Fun is subjective that's why people complain when their fun clashes with what they have no or little interest in. Honestly, Negan is mehhhhh his time was years ago. His addition makes sense for western people to get into it. Yet overall he's a waste
In that lineup in Negan’s trailer we have: A superhuman man who goes toe to toe with demons armed with only his fists and its a normal day for him An assassin A special forces military guy who also has some sort of lightning powers A fucking ninja A judoka with enough strength in one punch to end anyone despite being an airhead A literal demon that tamed a godamned tiger The son of said literal demon and guy who fights demons like its nothing (did mention he got dropped off a cliff and lived? Oh and he has a demon side too) A kickboxer/muay-thai fighter that is also easily scared, but the cornered rat will bite the cat A genetically modified boxer that can punch through concrete with ease (and he’s the son of the assassin) The son of the guy that got dropped off a cliff and grandson of the literal demon with a tiger and the demon fighter. (Oh he has a demon side too) And last but not least. The man who literally created a training method so that he can fight as fast as he did while skinny while being fat as fuck. Negan wouldn’t have a chance at beating anyone in Tekken
Dang this video did not age well, Steve and Sora are in Smash Bros now, Lebron James and the Iron Giant are in MultiVersus, and Garfield is in Nick All Star Brawl 1+2
I dunno, after playing him, i'm starting to appreciate Negan as a Playable Character in Tekken 7 We're talking about a normal dude with an average complexion and a spiked bat fighting against people who can catch axes with it's teeth, produce their own electricity, with overweight but move at the speed of a gymnast , dudes that have beam eyes, special agents and a bear. You said it best, at his most threatening is when he's against scared survivors, but when you put him against any of the above he has to put up his weight against them, all while being the smirking, smarmy, douchebag, whistling bastard he is. All the while while having a "fighting" style that has more finesse than a drunken mule. I can't help but love it.
I think that's an interesting thought he brought up about Negan preying on weaker foes. Maybe his bat gives him range and push back where his game plan is to beat you into a corner. If the grappler concept is built around fear, maybe Negan is a wall pressure focused character with lots of moves that Jail with brutal counter hit punishes. He forces you to be stuck in the a sort of mind game where you dont want to move or when you do you cant due to frame disadvantage. His weakness could be poor recovery? Idk it was just interesting thinking of how his personality could translate into gameplay.
Thank you so much for this. You stated his biggest flaw, that nobody is afraid of Negan. Anyone can actually BEAT Negan no contest. It's beyond well-put, as opposed to me just saying, "Negan can't take a corpse thrust from Devil Jin."
Negan is in Tekken because of Michael Murray. Negan is a badass character in the comic book, Ive never seen him on the show but TBH I think the hype for the show died a long time ago and bringing Negan for promotional purpose is like 2 years late.
0:17 me neither, I have a couple of friends that watch the walking dead and I show them this character and they are not interested in play Tekken... so why is he in the game again
Not to mention, the tone of the universe he hails from doesn't gel with Tekken's really damn weird sense of humor. After all, it's gonna totally take the wind from Negan's sails when he finds out Paul Phoenix's Polnareff-hairdo saved his life, and now he's got a mod where he walks around with a hilarious indentation in his hairdo. XD Thematically, Negan can't be a real threat or be properly represented in a teen-rated game like Tekken. Now you take someone like Geralt of Rivia, and well, Soul Calibur 6 couldn't have asked for a more enticing guest character. You want puzzle pieces that will fit in with the rest of them, and I really have no idea what the publishers were thinking when they thought this game needed more Negan.
100% agree. It was really weird watching a demon woman who summons magical tigers cower before a guy with a Bat. Just feels too out of place. Negan could work well in a game like Mortal Kombat if he had to be in any fighter, that's the one since it actually would let Negan be closer to his Walking Dead counterpart. But overall it just does not fit too well
I didn't like Negan's reveal because of the physicality of the moveset. A bat (mostly all of his attacks) would only be logical using 1 or 2. That works for Steve because he's a boxer where 3 and 4 are side dodges and stuff, but I don't see Negan using anything with 3 or 4 and not looking goofy. Nor did I see any legwork in the trailer.
5:13 Josie would destroy him too. She fought a fucking bear and won barehanded. A regular dude with no martial arts training whatsoever would be no trouble.
Not that crazy my guy You really saying that a SFI-FI magical knight can't be in a weapon fg? I mean doesn't fit the mediaval fantasy, but star wars has alot of battles, especially sword duals Walking dead? Not so much
Negan in Mortal Kombat, yes where as a fatality he beats your head in exposing skull, brains etc. Tekken, I just see him as another Miguel, brawler, dirty fighter, nothing that really stands out except his voice acting.
I personally think that a Kamen Rider would be a good pick for Tekken, say Black RX or Ichigo with chops, kicks and jumps. I think a really cool choice would be Kamen Rider Ex-Aid. He's a "genius gamer" with amazing intellect so he'd be a near perfect fit with his "toy" hammer and forms, Especially Gekitotsu Robots, or Hyper Muteki as a rage transformation.
This is BIG SPECULATION but my guess is that they probably would have put forth Michone as a character, but when they saw Master Raven they decided to go with something else because their likenesses are too similar. AMC just wanted a slice of the ESports pie and are using this to test the waters. Consider that Tekken is a popular 3D game that can manage a likeness like Negan fairly well on the surface. AMC has a certain quality they want to maintain, their show has an almost movie-like production quality and that makes them more scrutinizing most of the time- at least when it comes to who they'll do business with. Negan's dialogue in the trailer even lends itself to that: "Feels good. Sounds good". My first go-to thought was that Negan should be in Mortal Kombat not Tekken, but NRS doesnt have the 3D animation skills. There really isn't a competitive medium I can think of besides battle royale that would fit something like Walking Dead so this was probably the closest thing that fit the parameters that were laid out for them. Love hearing your input on Negan! I'd love it if you could do videos on more Tekken-related stuff :)
Based on what this video had taught me about Negan, I'd have him play as a sort of space control character with devastating meele damage, but no real ability to approach you himself. He would summom things that make you afraid to do anything but approach him, forcing you into Negan's devastating damage.
3:16 Well... I always ask for every character ever to be in a fighting game. One of my favorite characters in Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is Phoneix Wright, who never throws a punch once in that game. Oddball characters are a huge part of fighting games, so this point isn't very clear here. Perhaps you should say Negan's combat abilities aren't very distinct or dynamic.
I might get hate for this, but Negan looks more bland than plain oatmeal. He's just a guy with a bat, at least if he was in MK he could kill people with it. He has no unique skills, he's just Frank West but with only a bat lol. They didn't even spice it up by having him summon Walkers and just reference the show in general, he's just bland.
@@Nparalelo It's cuz he's not popular for what he can do, he's popular for his personality. In a fighting game, with people that should all be able to take him easily, no flashy abilities or anything, he's just the most boring thing in life, he doesn't even have a fighting style. Literally just a random guy with a bat.
@@Username-uu2ly The point is, everything that makes him interesting and popular is stuff you can't actually translate to a fighting game. He's not gonna have dialogue outside some one liners from the show, he has no skills or special abilities, which makes him look even more boring when they have characters like Noctis to compare him to, and the dynamic that made him effective is completely gone, he's the weakest person on the roster by not actually being a fighter or having powers, so the power dynamic from the show doesn't work, and he can't even kill. You can say what you want about the horror characters in MK, but they at least stay in their Lane and can actually kill. Negan does not work in a game like Tekken unless you make his moveset special by having him summon zombies or other survivors, like Jill in MvC, cuz now he's just a normal guy with a bat. If you're not a hardcore fan of the show, you will not find him appealing at all.
I prefer Negan in Tekken over Mortal Kombat tbh. In Mortal Kombat he would still just be a guy with a bat, like in Tekken, but in Tekken he’s more interesting because he’s so out of place and absurd.
The only reason Negan is in Tekken is because a fan tweeted out they thought it would be cool and Harada went with it. He's basically a super random fan request that social media allowed to make work. Purely made for shock value. He's not really meant to be fit for Tekken, just as a fan service to a twitter fan basically. With that said he basically works well as a lazier Miguel with a weapon which is what they went for.
When i first seen his gameplay trailer i felt his move set just look all samey (sorry english not my first language) , none of his moves being shown stick to me as if he just repeating a few moves over and over
You're right. Every character should bring something unique to the table, especially as a guest character who's trying to win over fans of two different things. Akuma brings Street Fighter moves and mechanics to Tekken. Geese brings King of Fighters moves and mechanics to Tekken. Noctis brings a unique fighting style with summoned swords and magic. What does Negan do? He hits you with a bat.
I felt the same way, even though Im interested in Negan, its the lack of source material that give Negan a menacing playstyle. Most of the references are nods to his charisma not his fighting.
@@caprese1243 And a rebuttal to that would be that Elise has more to her than charisma and a bat. Her style stands out and expresses her character well.
Not a single kick is done... and even if that is his thing Steve Fox have variations on his boxing that make him interesting ... I dont know, if he is a work in progress, i hope that he gets a lot better when he comes out.
At 2:46 I thought about what you said about the fights in the walking dead only being personal instead of being about overcoming your opponents strength. Then I realised the actual slogan for tekken 7 is "The Best Fights Are Personal". But this was a great video nonetheless. Great job sugarpunch design works. Love your content.
I see a lot of people saying Negan should have been in MKXI but I dunno. For as weird as his appearance is in Tekken 7, at least they put effort into his animation which makes him automatically better than if NetherRealm got him.
Next Time: Sonic in BlazBlue -Archie Andrews in Street Fighter -Jontron in Def jam -Kinnikuman or Kid Muscle in King of Fighters -Batman in Guilty Gear -Hannah Montana in Skullgirls -Spiderman in Injustice -Eric Cartman in Jumpforce
Strangely enough, these seem like good picks and they seem like they could be good fits in those games. I was just visualising their movesets in my head.
The thing is tho... my cousin loves the walking dead and this character and its been a great gateway to introducing him into fighting games. They went crazy and had a blast with him
Bamco & their shitty guest characters. Neegan has all of the graceful movement of Darth Vader in Soul Calibur 4. They both fight like a generic Frankenstein's monster. Remember that funky dropkick Vader had? The only guest that they did well was Geese Howard. His fighting style seems to compliment Heihachi's.
@@LoliconSamalik - Akuma's waxy looking & is cheap, despite being nerfed several times. Geralt is not interesting to me in the least. His triangle magic looks lame, he has a lackluster movelist, & I'm not a Witcher fan. 2B is little more than fan service. A french maid android from 8000+ years in the future is just retarded in Soul Calibur. I own both games and am disappointed with the rosters in both. NetherRealm is equally guilty of stuffing their flagship fighters with nonsensical guest characters. This is exactly what I was saying. If Negan's in tekken, I could be a guest character too. Maybe I'll hit people with my fight stick, since apparently being a regular person carrying a normal blunt object is all Harada needs now.
Just as a fighting game enthusiast I was curious how Negan would fit into Tekken. Gotta say it was underwhelming, and I think you nailed the main problem: he's just too normal.
I stopped watching Walking Dead a while ago and I don’t think I’ve ever played Tekken, but my pick would have been Morgan. His whole shtick is he’s against killing people, but he’s so good in chosen fighting style, staff fighting, that can.
@@Ryodakun I think it more has to do with how limp it sounds, and little blood and gore it makes. Without some baseball bat thumps, it doesn't sell the burtality of Lucille, in my opinion
I think this all started with Tekken 3. There was a certain little orange dinosaur in the game that you could unlock. You could tell that it was just for laughs and nobody really made a big deal out of it. Now were seeing guess characters left and right in Tekken and other games. They all fall into three categories. A guest character can either 1: fit well, 2: is out of place but is still entertaining, or 3: just don't fit well period. Negan Of course is in category 3 when it comes to Tekken. I personally would like to see Negan in a game like Dead Island or Scum. But in Tekken? He isn't the worst idea, but he doesn't do the orange dinosaur any justice as a proper guest character that doesn't really fit in a Tekken game.

In 2017, Harada himself agreed with you.
YOU DONT SAY?
I would rephrase that.
I would say that the best guest characters are those that can have aspects from their game implemented well. This is why I consider Akuma/Geese the best guest characters of all time
@@benjaminfenn3700 Geralt doesn't in soul calibur, he'll the dude from Nioh is a better fit
His face also is too photo realistic compared to rest of the cast. Sure everyone is 3DCG but Tekken has always had this animesque or surreal look to their characters.

Incorrect, Negan's rage art is a reference to Abraham's death.
@@VegaSlides Kind of a combo of both deaths...Abraham got 86'd pretty fast like Paul but Glenn took 2 hits before dying while Negan was toying with him, like in the cinematic.
This is where I think Japanese Censors may have had a significant influence
@@VegaSlides It was a reference to Glenn's. Glenn in the comics was the one to be kill by Negan, Abraham wasn't even there for that scene in the comics
well you see here it's because it's a fighting game, you can't have things take a year to go on, so you gotta get back into the gameplay as soon as you can
unless you're playing single-player where t7's akuma in the special chapter where getting hit by his raging demon takes a bit longer to finish because that shit's cool to watch
Negan would've been perfect for Mortal Kombat. Especially judging from what they've done with Joker, who is also an ordinary man, physically.
Negan in Mortal Kombat XI>>>>Negan in Tekken
It should have been Majima Goro or Kazuma Kiryu

@ShitpostingAtheist ShitpostingAtheist I don't even like TWD so why would I care, I just think him pulling a Glenn fatality on Scorpion sounds like a good idea

She might be afraid...but she'd still kick his ass pretty easily.
@@AirLancer Literally anyone on the roster would stomp a mud hole in Negan and walk it dry

Also Ezekiel had a tiger too, so nope.
@Filip Filipovic 1. If he hits.
2. He can still die from one hit of the bat.
Heihachi and Kazuya do not give one single solitary shit between them about miniguns.
I heard “Negan in Dead by Daylight” and had to pause the video.
SOMEONE make that happen, that is SUCH a cool idea.
@@caprese1243 I can definitely agree with that. Negan does fit that criteria you mentioned really well. Almost perfectly to be stated.
Thanks for adding your perspective
Park 8024 yep
100% agreed, Negan isn't meant to be in a fighting game with characters that have flashy over the top move sets like Tekken. Maybe he would work better in MK, but even that's stretching it.
Eh, MK had leatherface, which is just a big man with a chainsaw. No martial arts expert or more than human.
"...flashy over the top..."
"...MK"
Wait. You're saying Tekken is more surreal than MK?
I agree, MK had guests like an Alien and Freddy Kreuger, and he's just "got a bat." It's not even a nail bat but a scratch bat. Fuck this guy.

Because Harada-san that's why. His shirt says all.
@@jesseking1403 - He and Bamco aren't above catering to casuals though...
Kinda funny these panders in Tekken ended up being a char from a dead game and one from a dead series.
Noctis translates very well in Tekken though
Nothing wrong with Noctis being in Tekken
THANK YOU! Negan belongs in Mortal Kombat 11, and Noctis belongs in Soul Calibur. I've been saying this forever.
Majima Goro would have been ten times cooler than this garbage Negan.
Thats exactly what i was thinking! Majimas fighting styles are extremely expressive making kinda perfect.
*rolls eyes*
Do people have to complain about everything and not learn to have fun.
In that lineup in Negan’s trailer we have:
A superhuman man who goes toe to toe with demons armed with only his fists and its a normal day for him
An assassin
A special forces military guy who also has some sort of lightning powers
A fucking ninja
A judoka with enough strength in one punch to end anyone despite being an airhead
A literal demon that tamed a godamned tiger
The son of said literal demon and guy who fights demons like its nothing (did mention he got dropped off a cliff and lived? Oh and he has a demon side too)
A kickboxer/muay-thai fighter that is also easily scared, but the cornered rat will bite the cat
A genetically modified boxer that can punch through concrete with ease (and he’s the son of the assassin)
The son of the guy that got dropped off a cliff and grandson of the literal demon with a tiger and the demon fighter. (Oh he has a demon side too)
And last but not least. The man who literally created a training method so that he can fight as fast as he did while skinny while being fat as fuck.
Negan wouldn’t have a chance at beating anyone in Tekken

You can absolutely bring character from other médiuns to video games
Is just that negan from walking dead is not enough of fighter
All this time later and I'm still like "This is the weirdest guest character in all of fighting games."
I dunno, after playing him, i'm starting to appreciate Negan as a Playable Character in Tekken 7
We're talking about a normal dude with an average complexion and a spiked bat fighting against people who can catch axes with it's teeth, produce their own electricity, with overweight but move at the speed of a gymnast , dudes that have beam eyes, special agents and a bear.
Negan in the dead by daylight its a really cool idea.
Negan is just Miguel with a bat lol
Thank you so much for this. You stated his biggest flaw, that nobody is afraid of Negan. Anyone can actually BEAT Negan no contest. It's beyond well-put, as opposed to me just saying, "Negan can't take a corpse thrust from Devil Jin."
Negan is in Tekken because of Michael Murray.
Negan is a badass character in the comic book, Ive never seen him on the show but TBH I think the hype for the show died a long time ago and bringing Negan for promotional purpose is like 2 years late.
Everyone wanted a Yakuza character and Namco said nope
See, that is why guest characters in fighting games should come from video games and not other media.
My biggest problem with Neagan in Tekken is that his bat looks and feels too light. It feels like he is hitting you with a foam tube or some shit
And there is still No Kiryu in Tekken... What the fuck.
I would love to see what makes for a great guest character in fighting games!

Welp, let's add Joker from Persona 5 to the WTF guest fighter list
I remember the Best Friends Zaibatsu put it best. "Imagine if he did the 'eenie meenie minnie mo' thing and he just pointed at Kiryu"
Amazon (either the classic, Omega or Alpha) would be super fun
Can't wait until Tony Soprano shows up in KoF16
TWD stuff would definitely fit in much better with a Battle Royale game than in a 1v1 fighter.
Based on what this video had taught me about Negan, I'd have him play as a sort of space control character with devastating meele damage, but no real ability to approach you himself.
He would summom things that make you afraid to do anything but approach him, forcing you into Negan's devastating damage.
"And a panda who won the first Tekken world tournament"

Here's a summary: ruclips.net/video/XkHPr2OhF_A/видео.html
Probably the best arguments I've heard against negans presence in tekken so far. Nice
Kazuya wouldnt even stand up. He'd go demon form and shoot negan lol
I suppose Negan is just interesting and different in the context of TWD. There he seems to stand out.
(But I don't even watch TWD so I dunno)
Now that you mention it....yeah he does looks like Frank West XD
@@Nparalelo It's cuz he's not popular for what he can do, he's popular for his personality. In a fighting game, with people that should all be able to take him easily, no flashy abilities or anything, he's just the most boring thing in life, he doesn't even have a fighting style. Literally just a random guy with a bat.
No unique skills? He's covered wars, you know.
5:10 they’re not even handcuffed
Finally someone explains it. Every time I would bring it up the canned response is always *"hur dur, but muh vampires bears and robots"*
he should be in mortal kombat to show off the gore and fear properly
@@SugarPunch To be fair, Elise already hits you with a bat. A Vampire bat!
@@caprese1243 And a rebuttal to that would be that Elise has more to her than charisma and a bat. Her style stands out and expresses her character well.

We should also keep in mind that the few handful of actually cool MK characters are mostly guests, like Jason, Leatherface and Kratos
In fairness, did you see the mk11 trailer? It looks like they’re trying to improve animations
That was all pre-rendered, and their cinematic animation is already very good.
I think Josie would be able to take Negan down in a 1 v 1 if she found the courage to fight back

What about Akuma? Or Gerald? Even 2B looks fantastic.
I'm not a fan of this practice, especially with so many missing legacy characters & weeboo pandering, new characters like Lucky Chloe & Katarina.
Now I wish Tekken characters would just show up in walking dead.
Negan would be PERFECT for Mortal Kombat 11
Why? Does he rap? Lame-ass MK11 trailer.
I stopped watching Walking Dead a while ago and I don’t think I’ve ever played Tekken, but my pick would have been Morgan. His whole shtick is he’s against killing people, but he’s so good in chosen fighting style, staff fighting, that can.
Personally, I think the animation looks REALLY bad. Almost like an NRS game.
His bat seems to lack weight which makes it look really weird when he throws it around
@@Ryodakun I think it more has to do with how limp it sounds, and little blood and gore it makes. Without some baseball bat thumps, it doesn't sell the burtality of Lucille, in my opinion
Yeah he looks weird but lets see year later when he is polished
Good to see you here
he looks like jason in mkx
NEGAN IN TEKKEN?! LMAOO HE'S JUST SOME OLD DUDE WITH A BAT!!
I want to become a game developer or designer and I had no idea about how animation in fighting games is so important! I watched your Mortal Kombat XL videos and my mind has awakened. I just want to say thank you for your videos, they're great. (Not sure you'd see this comment on MKXL video so I'll post it here)
should have been Majima Goro
I think Negan would have been a perfect fit for the Mortal Kombat universe. I can easily imagine him breaking skulls with Lucille in a gory way, invoking zombies to tear apart his opponents etc...
0:55 Hell, Jokers in Smash Bros now (I mean, I thought it was kinda predictable, but the rest of the world didn't, so...)
Now imagine joker in tekken lmao
I never saw it coming (or at least I think that's the predictable joke?)
I swear seeing these "Joker in Smash" comments made me think that the Joker(DC) got in, knowing that it's the Persona 5 Joker... Not shocked in the slightest. But I am happy, he should be hype in motion.
How it Was predictable? Kinnikuman in Jump Force would have Made More Sense (and sadly im dure he wont be on the game)
Negan was Michael Murray's idea (English localization guy for Tekken) and Harada just went with it.
