It should be said that Loulis learned ASL from his troop (Washoe the matriarch) as no humans were allowed to sign around Loulis. It was part of a program where they wanted to see if the chimps would teach a baby (yes, he was a baby 42 year's ago) chimp ASL or not. Obviously, they did and we now have Lou throwing around his vocabulary! :) He is special to me and my family. We like to see him happy. Wishing many more years of chase and tug of war.
