13:16 I was expecting M18 to win here as Makita has a noticeably smaller motor, but that's a pretty big win for XGT. What's the weight of both saws? If Makita is lighter, then Milwaukee's vaunted segmented motors are basically obsolete before they were released.
I think it is hilarious that this new circular saw has been hyped up, saying it’s got the newest technology for motors, and all that, but the old Makita with the regular batteries beats it. Obviously you can’t beat it when the Milwaukee has the larger batteries but the 40 V Makita looks like it would be it with most of their batteries
At this point i dont know why any professional wouldnt have at least high output batteries for demanding tools like saws, grinders, sds drills etc. Those 5.0s look like dinosaur tech compared to the new ones
Always slightly concerned about the quality of Milwaukee tools. Is that warranted? I think the packout system is by far the best out there in terms of storage?
One of my biggest annoyances with Milwaukee are the damn battery release buttons. If your hand is sore or cramped at all, it can be a bitch to remove one sometimes. Makita XGT batteries are about perfect, in that regard. Which are basically a more refined 18v version. And agreed on the saw trigger. Way too stiff and small. But on the upside, theres no more annoying safety thing to engage.
I got the Makita battery lawnmower after watching your test video. Had it a year, and it's proved to be high quality. I have found that genuine Makita 18v batteries are worthwhile and the no-brand substitutes are very, very low quality. Have you any experience with no-brand battery substitutes? This channel is super valuable in presenting accurate tool info. 😀
Glad to hear you like the mower... although... I've never reviewed an 18v Mower on this channel. And no, I never buy fake batteries, it's just not worth it.
Hmm this new Milwaukee saw was pretty hyped but still heavier and weaker than makita... Guess marketing works haha 😁 Thanks for the great test as usual!
My personal favourite blade left is the DCS565 DeWalt, lightweight and powerful, easy to operate etc would be interested to see how it compares to the others tested. My favourite blade right would be the Hikoki 165mm 36v saw though
I have both the dcs565 and the new milwaukee. The milwaukee is better built and slightly more powerful. The rpm is also higher, especially on a battery that is drained to less than 2/3. The dewalt is slightly lighter and rafter hook is better. M18 rafter hook is not big enough for European lumber.
Painful to see such wide boards get shredded to pieces even though they're used ones. Interesting how old Makita (it's a DHS680 right?) is still holding on with 5Ah battery.
I still would have like to see You put that old DeWalt 6.5" with an 8.0ah Tabless against that Milwaukee ,Because I know I could trust the outcome if You did it 👍 I had that DeWalt saw back when and it was a decent little saw ..... Great Video...... 👍 🖖
Any chance you can get the M12 145mm skilly on the show for a test? Its piqued my interest for doing some quick and dirty finishing lines when I don't want to break out the droppy or my tank of a 185mm skilly
No. The tabless cells currently being used are 21700 cells which are physically bigger than the 18650 cells used in Makita 18v batteries. But 18650 tabless cells are coming...

WHY WON’T MAKITA RELEASE BETTER 18V LXT BATTERIES?!?!? This makes it so obvious that better batteries would make their 18V tools competitive! I’m still using that old 18V BL Makita saw and it’s great. Modern batteries would only make it better. Why Makita? WHY?
@ XGT are about 50% more expensive than LXT, and I already own a huge fleet of LXT tools. Makita have not introduced a new LXT battery since the 6Ah back in 2016, and that was hardly new technology at the time. They are purposely letting LXT wither and die. I will not buy into XGT on that principle alone.
You don't know this but that Milwaukee saw is NOT going to last. Because it is brushless they have to use a lot more electronics to make it run in place of the brushes . Its all in around the switch so it will not last maybe a year, I had one and mine quit running within a year and I hardly used it. Then Milwaukee wanted a lot of money to repair it, it was cheaper to go buy a new one.
@theseb1979 there's some truth to it. Brushed motors are very simple and simplicity = reliability. Brushless motors are mechanically more reliable as they have no brushes to wear out. But brushless motors have ~100 electronic components, and if any of them fail, the tool is useless and rarely repairable (apart from buying a whole new electronics assembly). That said, brushless is so much better that it's worth it most of the time.
It works very good for right handers. Because you can see the blade from the saws left side of saw (operators right). But you need to chop with the waste to the left, which cause you to cross arms if you want to hold a square with your left hand. Or chop with the saw sitting on the waste, provided there is sufficient waste to support the base.
Normally with a right sided blade saw, if your a right hander, you need to always lean over the top of the saw to see the cut. But you don't have to cross hands etc when cutting with a square.

Yes the Makitas are both lighter.
I wasn't at all surprised at the XGT result. I was however surprised at how well the LXT still holds up.
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL yeah, that was interesting, too. Maybe M18 battery a bit more worn out?
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL I'd love to see a Builds & Stuff teardown of both. Weigh both saws, take apart, weigh and measure motors.
@@toolscientist it's a new 8ah forge, hopefully it shouldn't be worn out so soon 😊
That Makita is so good tool.
Made most other saws I have obsolete - this thing with a good framing triangle made even mitre saw collect dust.
had no idea makita had a 6.5 36 volt saw , good vid 👍
I use the 9 and a quarter track saw to do everything, miters, rips, etc. maki saws are the best!
@@bryang9158 it has three, blade left, blade right, and track saw :)

Well, you can only find the cool stuff in developed countries.

US residents tell me all the time that they buy DeWalt because it has 2 more volts than other brands. Marketing works very well in some regions.

If this was a u.s video the Milwaukee would've beaten everything w a 5.0....😅
I make real videos.
👍
No they want test the Makita, it not the hot item here. If they do they will sandbag the Makita so there favorite brand wins.
Good point lol.Makita is popular enough here, its just yt is flooded with creators paid to make certain red tools look better than the rest lol

The rafter hook is for roofers. We use it everyday in Belgium. We hang it on the battens for the roof tiles
The music, LMFAOOOOOOOO, I love this channel.
Hyperthethically, could we take the tabless cells from another battery and fit them in a 18v makita battery pack?

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL great news, thank you

I wonder when the new 7 1/4 or 185mm will release in australia

Dude you gotta get a flex thang how much is shipping I could possibly send you something they got good sales right now
It's shipping the batteries that is the big hassle.
milwaukee advertises that saw as being better than the xgt here in the states. didnt really seem like it from what was shown here
Just gotta use the 12amp forge for a proper comparison he only used the 8amp forge
@@joshhennessy3055 no, that battery is too heavy for this saw, 8ah is a much better fit
@@riba2233 not really since the last saw was heavier
@@joshhennessy3055 idk, I wouldn't want to use a 1.5kg battery on a tool that is mostly used with one hand, even a 1kg 8ah is borderline
If I'd used the 8Ah Makita it would have wiped the floor with the Milwaukee.
If you take that dust extraction bit off it shoots the dust out to the side surprised you didn't notice that
I do know that. If you take a look at the thumbnail you'll see it ain't on there.
You could be a good neighbor and offer to loan some batteries to your neighbor.
🎶 Milwaukee Forge 6ah battery 🎶 🤣🤣
Sooooo, in short then, its shite? Standard milwaukee
I think alot of these pro Milwaukee commentors etc. Are paid...lol

Sëëms like the MIlfuckee is held back by the lower voltage which means less throughput on the same connector pins.
Rafter hook designed for USA, base adjustment measurements in mm? 😅

you got 1300 watts of power on the makita going up against 930 watts on the millwaukee 🤷

Most Makita tools are brushless too these days. I don’t disagree with your general sentiment but the brushless bit makes little sense.
