One of the best tutorials I have seen!!! Man, you are awesome. I usually come across people who either speak wayyyy too fast and can't really understand anything, or people who have a lot of hours in the game and explain things in very complex terminology. But you, my friend are simply great, you condensed the whole thing into a simple a dynamic explanation! God bless.
I've been looking everywhere for how to use the rover cockpit. Thank you!!!!
Is that... Scott Manley's long lost Brother?
No, Scott Manley's brother would know how to pronouce Mün. :)))
Scott Manley is Scottish, this guy is Welsh
@@magnuskiu4473 So in Welsh ü is pronounced a?
Lol I don't notice it when I say Mun 😂
wait people read my comments? woah... im famous
Now that's what I call a Tutorial, hats off to you sir
Lol, when you got to the Mun and revealed the fact that your battery placement caused them to rub on the engines my first thought was "Lower your spring strength on the wheels" and then you did that. You could also increase the spring strength of the landing legs to raise the lander. I have used the combination of both of those to assist in docking rovers and bases, I dry fit it all on Kerbin before launching but differing fuel levels and terrain can make it just a hair off.
On Xbox for the enhanced edition it is the X button to get the labels to persist after moving the cursor off.
Great tutorial by the way.
Edit: If you have the reaction wheels set to Normal(default) then as you try to drive around that is increasing the forces in that direction which can cause issues with rovers. I will often set them to SAS only and then turn on SAS, this gives you the benefits of SAS without trying to flip yourself every 3 meters. If you do flip over and everything is still intact you can set them back to normal or pilot only mode, flip yourself back over and then set back to SAS mode. And don't forget that command type modules often have built in reaction wheels too. This has caused many a spin out and roll over for me.
For some reason, settings for springs won't appear in my sandbox game. Do you have any idea on how is it possible?

I recommend adding a controller and antenna to the lander so it can be controlled remotely and transmit back data once all the little green men have left. Great video!

Very cool mate. Rover delivery systems can be tricky in this game. Very neat design!
One of the best KSP mun rover tutorials
One thing I'll never forget about this game is landing my rover on the wrong side of the mun, and deciding to drive it to the correct location. I spent so many hours holding down the w key, and we had so many adventures together trying to negotiate lots of steep craters.
Nice elegant design. I did not realize that one landing can had a variant that gave that boxy shape perfect for a rover!
Excellent tutorial. I kept trying to put rovers on top of my command module and had a heck of a time. I was able to design, deploy and land the first time I tried this.
One of the best build tutorials I've seen, glad you covered all platforms. With a little creativity, I was able to get a rover built 😁
I just discovered this channel while looking for Mun rovers to build, and I must say I love your tutorials! They are easy to understand and I like that I don't need any of the DLCs to build what's in the video.
This has to be the best tutorial I have seen, how do you only have 10k?

Hey man, hello from Brazil. Please don't stop. We trust, you are a engineer.
just came back after 3 years this was you help me alot in the humble begins thanks alot mate
Thanks for the tutorial I'm new so im trying to figure out how to get rovers safely on the Mun. I'll update your design to make it fully robotic so I dont have to kill Kerbals.
He is Matt and meme guy all in one
I used the slightly larger, black wheels and my rover is undriveable on the Mun. If I try to accelerate I just do a wheelie, and if I try to brake I flip forwards. Worked great on Kerbal though, so the dream is to land one on Duna and drive around like I own the place.
@@alex94hg22 I have not played KSP in months now, so no.
same. I couldn't drive. I dont know why
have you tried tweaking the rover wheels' settings (torque, suspension, etc)?
All the reaction wheels must be set to "SAS only" mode or completely disabled, or you should remap your driving keys to something else that is not WASD. What is happening is your turning and thrust keys also engage reaction wheels of the rover(ones you normaly use to orient your vessel during fight). In low gravity they have enough power to flip your rover.
Other trick to improve stability is to disable steering on the rear wheels, lowering traction on the steering wheels, and rebalancing breaking to rear wheels more than front wheels.
I'm maybe a year late but i have a problem at 11:04 where my rover wheel's suddenly break while opening the protection cover, any fixes?
when you see multiple kerbals walking at the same time:
wait, that's illegal.
no but seriously how did you do that?
Kerbal follower mod you can set the Kerbals on patrol which is awesome for videos the only problem is you have to walk the Kerbal to each spot first
@@Orb8Ter LMAO WHY U USE TESLA ROADSTER FOR THRUSTER
yeah how did they do that?
????????????????????
I orbited Mun for the first time last night. I went in too shallow on the return. I didn't think to count the number of orbits it took to air brake enough to actually land, but it took 13 in-game days. My ablator was used up by the time I did a proper reentry so I was convinced that Jeb and all of the science he collected would go kablooey, but he survived.
Best bet for reentry is to set your node to come in at 30km. That usually pulls you in to land on the same orbit
Ok I've been trying to copy things in ksp sp4 addition for a year and now you finally helped me so thank you . ☺
Best Ksp Channel EVER (Tutoriols Gameplay Etc) Im Subscribed And Have Notifications
For land on the Mün i make a orbit of 20km / 20km and at 5km i kill my horizontal velocity, before it, i start the landing burn at 500m and land at 1m/s, and this works perfectly!
Dude, your rocket is overkill : you can go and bring back to duna with it. Remplacing decoupler by docking port jr (idem on the pod) and you can land to duna with parachutes next bring back and dock to the rocket in orbit
Fabian Steven TH000 what are you saying
@@ursamajor911 My com is not clear enough like that? Read it again carefully.
doesn't that mean more science?
I went to the mun on 5,800 dv I could’ve made the rocket smaller as I had fuel left over
Its for newer players, in case they make mistakes
this video genuinely helped me
Very nice tutorial!
I liked it and subscribed to your channel. 👍
Thank you so much orb8ter i used this to make a project: Odyssey, which makes a giant mum outpost with this rover
Quick tip: once you're on the mun & you've entered your rover proceed to press Q or E on PC while listening to the song You Spin Me Round. 10 / 10 mun experience
This is an EXCELLENT tutorial
Hello Orb8ter, I just wanted to ask a question. It has been a while since you have made your last video and I really miss them, they always seem to brighten my day and put a smile on my face. when are you going to make another video? Either way, I really am looking forward to it!
Me: "Mom, can we have Scott Manley?"
Mom: "No, we have Scott Manley at home."
Scott Manley at home:
woah. Thanks for this man, really appreciate it
I’m sure you’re Welsh, but I keep hearing twangs that make me think Scottish or Irish?
Anyway dope vid man, I have nowhere near the science to do this, and no idea how to get it, but thanks.
Hey I’m 50% welsh my dads side is welsh my moms side is Canadian.
I don't know why I watched this but I did and I enjoyed it.
I like both streamers, but I like Orb8ter more because after all those years he still makes Kerby tutorials and Scott doesn't.
This didn’t age well

hi all thank you real engineer for all the fun , i do like these extras , DLC....when they going to add it to consoles i hope 🤞🏻 they bring it

you can put the separator engines on top and at the bottom of tanks and than cover them with engine/nose cone. Cause aesthetics and all.

affirmative!
I now use this design as my main mun lander
What is that other lander can? I’m using the steam version with newest update and never have seen that
Awesome instruction, you helped a lot!
This video was pretty useful and had some suggestions like the rover build model. But honestly that was a very excessive use of fuel and engines, I managed to do this with a twin boar engine on it, and around that, about 6 kickback solid fuel boosters. The lander should have enough fuel for the rest. Oh I forgot, I also added an RC-02 Probodobodyne and some air brakes around the first stage and landed that to save cash. And with wings, it’s easier to control of course.
who are you ? and why are you so wise in the ways of kerbal space program?
0:11 how did you see the inside of the rover
near the Kerbal portraits there's a circular button that enables it!
If you put the decouplers for the boosters close to the Center of mass for the booster. Separations are rarely needed.
Bro i liked this vid, rlly its not for watchtime but learning
Thank you!!! Best vídeo out there!
I kinda prefer, now that I build larger space ships, to strap multiple Clydesdale boosters around the largest fuel/oxidizer tanks and engine(s) as a single stage ascent booster (yes, dragging Clydesdale boosters into orbit) so that once orbit is achieved and the primary space ship is detached, the entire ascent booster can de-orbit with it's reserve fuel tank, land and be recovered.
Ironically I remember making this exact same design for my rover
Did the skipper engine get debuffed or something? Because when i look up older tutorials, they always use the skipper, and when i try to use it, it never goes up
Can we add scanning arm to scan surface feature in surface left window???
Have you managed to make one that sits in a little cargo bay and then can drive out when landed?
@Orb8Ter I have an problem with the rover wheels, I can only bend up and down and side to side, and I can't drive at all. Can you help me with it somehow?
Amazing vid :) i cant even get into orbit
I can get Info Orbit but i cant make it to mun
I did several tries now with this rocket design but every time on the final approach on the mun before landing i start going sideways and tip over any tips on that?
You should check out the FUR (feline utility Rover) it's a cool mod for a Rover design. I think I got the name correct.
Really nice editing. Love your videos man. Why dont you try something like real solar system mod or Galileo's planet pack ?

uh idk much ab ksp ands i doubt u will see this but how did you make the kerbals freely move around like that in the end?
Just started playing KSP and I’m trying to find some useful mods to enhance situational awareness and overall flying capabilities. Which do you find the most useful?
You could make a moon base like this right? Connecting multuple vehicles together
Awesome guide thxs a lot for the help!!
Hi, very great video ! What's your mod ? mun is so beautiful on your PC !
May I ask why do you call it the min instead of the moon?
When using the inline cockpit, how do you attach the decouplers for the rest of the build?
I spun the decoupler to attach to the rear, then did the same spin and move you do to get the rover into place for the decoupler. I had no idea this was a thing that could be done until this video. I use those tool a lot more now. I’m early career so I didn’t have the parts he used but I got it to work and figured out to turn off the reaction wheels on the Mun after a near capsize. Had to look up how to pick up mun rocks but I was so glad my first land on the mun was with a rover. The first wheels suck though but now I have over 400 science from one trip to the mun so yay
How do you get the Kerbals to follow each other? Was that added in editing?
I managed to get to the moon today but couldn’t go back so lets see if this tutorial will help me
Thanks for this great tutorial! But I have the problem when I want to drive the rover, it starts spinning uncontrollably. What am I doing wrong?
Got it
what was the fix
@@walshwalsh8798 you have to go to the settings and change the key bindings for the rover movement from WASD to something else, like numpad 8456
How do you get the realistic Earth look? Is there a mod that works for the current update on MAC?
Can I use this rocket design to launch parts of a base to the Mun?
Make a tutorial to get to Joel and its moons

How do you keep the rover from flipping? Mine does summersalts whenever I pick up speed
I have to do some tweaking and figure out what went wrong, had to move the lander engines up slightly higher because they weren't counting as connected to the fuel tank and wouldn't fire, then the rover was too tall for the length of the legs with the lower engines so I got rid of the small tank and adapter above the rover to make some more room for the legs to touch the ground and the coupler exploded my rover and two of the engines when I tried ejecting the rover.
Mateja daj mi to da platim ili aplikaciju
11k sub ONLY? You need more.. best tutorials of ksp. 1 question what version are you playin??
Please can you make a long video of "how to do this " and "how to do that" BC it will be so much easier than finding a vid to to this and another to do that thank you
If you only put 2 boosters on its enough thrust to keep the rocket hovering like its no gravity :O i launched only using 3 engines but that was kinda cool :D
Does this still work if I have the enchanted edition? And on xbox
but did you put it on steam workshop?
I cant tell if the engines are exploding, causing the closest rover wheel to also explode, or if the heat from the engines just before touchdown causes the wheel to explode and subsequent engine to go next...but right before touchdown...that happens.
I followed this vid second by second, and right before landing i lose at least 1 rover wheel and the above engine. Every time.
It's the exact same build as urs. I managed to 3 wheel drive the rover...but not well. But i noticed after that all 4 engines were just gone.
Im so stumped.
Nice Video👍
I got my rover stuck underneath my rocket too! Luckily I had the folding wheels which saved the day.
When I make a maneuver node to get a mun encounter and I zoom in on the mun to see my periapsis it doesn’t show it.
Does it show that you have an encounter? If so, did you also make sure that your trajectory didn't pass through the surface of the moon, because if it does, the game will show no periapsis since it's under the surface.
Jarno de Wit I figured out the problem it was because I never focused on the moon
Why did you use external struts instead of auto-struts?
Laughing Gravy I don’t even understand autostrut
Auto struts, roll out!
Amazing man thanks
I made the exact same rocket and rover with mine weighing a few thousand less and for some reason the engines weren't strong enough to get me off the ground.
Wait, how did you get all three kerbals moving around at once?

What mod do you use for the look of kerbin and mun (clouds and atmosphere)?
how did you make them straight
Can't get the decoupler on the bottom of the rover to attach.
How do you get the decoupler to attach?! Also, I don't believe the Xbox version has the twin engine you use in this build. I did something wrong with the asparagus part. Are there written instructions of this build?
As of today the game now has the twin engines
How do I switch from rocket to rover? keep losing my rover after decoupling. on PS4.
Hello Orb8Ter , Is there anyway you can do for us newbies to KSP a step by step clear guide to installing any mods and how to remove them without any problems like odd bits of file left over? Yes I know allot of others do such a guide however you do the tutorials so much better!
