Dr. John is the singer from the Family Channel commercial. He's a relatively famous singer from New Orleans. Jesse Frederick (with writing partner Bennett Salvay) sang the songs for all those 90s shows
If you're wondering, the dog seen in the cradle before the first game belonged to the model for the show, Marjorie Goodson. There were a few occasions during the show's run where she brought him onto the set to help out.
Trebek definitely though Ken Lee said, "I guess there's still one WILD" instead of "one TAKE" at 25:08 when he replied, "No, there's the green take though" since Karen had just found 2 wilds and most people are looking for the wilds when they call out like that. So, Trebek just assumed and responded without fully listening
Also, Ken Lee saying, "still one wild" is a weird statement to make because there's obviously still a take left since it just went unpaired in Karen's turn. So, it's more likely that Ken Lee misspoke and said "Take" (since he was just looking at that word) instead of "Wild". Either way, Trebek wasn't listening clearly, but his assumption that Ken Lee was going to say "Wild" isn't that strange of an assumption
Fun Fact: Ken Creekmore's son, Griffin, is one of only 200 boyscouts to ever earn EVERY SINGLE merit badge BSA has to offer. Clearly, excellence runs in the family.
I'm sure he's really good with his hands and his mou...... I can't say that I'll get banned, we all know how preachers and boy scout leaders have a habit of not keeping their hands off young kids... "just close your eyes and I'll get you that next merit badge son this badge is about pleasing.... I cant say that shut either. I don't buy it for a second
If you ever want to see any clips of Trebek being loose on one of the shows he hosted, check out "High Rollers", a show he did in the late 70s. There's only a certain number of episodes floating around RUclips, so any you do find are still pretty good.
@@jsterling03 That would have been during the first run Trebek hosted. The only episode I've found from that run was for July 4, 1975. The rest I've seen were from the 1978-1980 incarnation.
The late 80s/early 90s time period was the future the people in the mid-70s dreamed of. Also letting the commercials roll feels pretty natural, creates good situations for humor, extends the video time and appeals to the nostalgic sense. Not a bad idea.
Definitely agree on the advertisements. It bumps the run time a few minutes which is good for analytics. Additionally it creates time when they can talk, advertise for their own stuff(instead of a long cereal commercial do 3 small ones?), and create humor in general. There's a lot you can do with 15-30 seconds but it runs the risk of being too produced for this video series.
As someone who did request to not skip the prizes and commercials, I appreciate that you tried haha. You would’ve missed out on the numbers lady and the jingle! (Maybe skipping the commercials is a good thing lol) Poor Ken Lee took some brutal insults in this one lol. A wholesome, poor and portly gentleman just trying to have fun! But you’re right - totally has a suppressed dark side!
Helps to know what's on the line as far as prizes go, some of the contestants reactions to losing makes it worth it. They could skip commercials as long as they revisit their "Watchin Commercials from the _0s" as the complications have better commercials than an episode recorded would
song is Accentuate the Positive by Dr. John ... I am embarrassingly familiar with the Mighty Ducks soundtrack (scene where they get to skate on the Star's ice)
Ken Lee seems like a legit good person. I'd get a beer with the guy or just shoot the shit over lunch. I'd definitely walk away from the conversation feeling better about life.
"No new taxes" was a campaign slogan for George H. W. Bush back in the day. The whole quote was "read my lips; no new taxes!" Then he raised taxes, and was beat by Slick Willy in '92.
Man I was feelin' pretty good about the fact that we were using Vidal Sasson Air Spray back then. I mean, we used a LOT of hair spray, so it seemed like the responsible thing to do.
Well, now I'm conflicted. My immediate reaction was I loved you skipping the commercials ("Booooooooring!!!!"), but some awesome moments in this one came from it, so now I have NO clue.
I've now watched a hockey game, BurgerTime & just starting the classic concentration tournament of champions and whoever said it's the most underrated series gets the prize..... I'm hooked Lmfaooo 😅🤣😅🤣😅😅🤣😅🤣
Back in the day more people would have known what a "gnu" is, because before we all used the Internet, nerdy kids spent more time reading the dictionary. Exotic animals with notable spellings were often highlights of the dictionary, sometimes even with pictures. So things like aarvarks, yaks, zebras, gnus, emus and dodos ended up a lot in nerd puzzles like word searches and crosswords (and you still see them sometimes).
I like capybaras and nutria didn't learn about them till internet though. I preferred squirrel books at the library though when I was a youngen pre internet. Weird being old and seeing the changes in just my lifetime. To think things went from having to go to school(university)/ get an encyclopedia set/dictionary to learn about things... and now basically the entirety of the world's knowledge is in the palm of our hands and can be translated into any language in a second or two. The internet changed everything in the world, kinda crazy to think about
I swear “The Family Channel” song is the same song, that’s used in the first “Mighty Ducks” movie, during the montage, when they go to the North Stars game.
i accidentally stole a hershey bar when i was like 6. i noticed it when we got in the car and i freaked out and had my parents go back in to pay for it lmfao
I don't think you need the short clip at the beginning of the video. Like, we are already watching the video. We don't need a teaser trailer at the beginning that shows us who the winner is.
There's plenty of variations. If wishes were fishes, the world would be an ocean. If wishes were fishes, we'd all have a fry. if wishes were fishes, we'd all cast nets. I can't find which one is the original, except that it came from a Scottish nursery rhyme with the line "if wishes were horses, then beggars would ride"
I'm fine with fast forwarding the commercials and the prizes. I just wish you would offset the camera a little bit because Jake is always covering number 21 and the lower part of the puzzle. Otherwise, great way to watch an awesome game show that reminds me of my childhood. RIP Alex
By far the most underrated series on RUclips.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
You should draft game show contestants... strong candidate for first overall right here...

Search for Dr. John and Leon Redbone doing Frosty The Snowman. It will not disappoint.

OMG, Jomboy could do 30mins ripping on this 2min music video. I'm laughing just thinking about his reaction to those outfits.
These Watchin' and Playin' series are two of the best things on RUclips.
If you're wondering, the dog seen in the cradle before the first game belonged to the model for the show, Marjorie Goodson. There were a few occasions during the show's run where she brought him onto the set to help out.
This needs to be pinned, I want compilation of this dog
Best part of letting the prizes presentation play out
So I assume Marjorie Goodson is related to Mark?
@@misterchill Yes, his daughter actually.
@@bluebear1985 I guess he was good at more than just Television Productions 🤣
It's fr*ckin THURSDAY homies! Another upload and I'm g*sh d*ng pumped!
Whoa dude. Language.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Jake sucks
Hey buster. My kids read this comments. Dial it back gall darn it!
"If you watch this type of content you like late-night cereal" That should be on a shirt with the face jimmy made
Absolutely fuckin love this quote, didn't even get to it yet but I'm ready to get it inked on my stomach like a care bare
I felt that comment in my soul
Watching jake chew that mouthful of cereal was all the info i needed on the taste.
I for one appreciate the commercials and prizes. More Jim and Jake talky and more retro.

My favorite part of this show is young Trebek. Outside of Jeopardy, dude has a real chaotic energy.

"Brass Cradle w/ Canopy" PLOT TWIST! Canopy is the dog's name
34:55 that song was also in The Mighty Ducks during the montage of them going to the North Stars game
I was eating cereal as the ad came on 🤣
i would totally watch TV with these guys
The videos are best when you two are enjoying watching whatever you're watching. If you're bored by the prizes, skip the prizes.
Ellin Dodge with famous books like - "Win the Lottery!", "You Are Your First Name" and, "You Are Your Birthday"
That dude singing the Family Channel commercial sounds like Dr. John, of "I was in the right place but it musta been the wrong time" game.
Horse mirror made me HOWL!! Just in case anyone forgot Trebek's Canadian 🇨🇦🤘
I don't understand and i didn't know. What's horse mirror
Love how the green m on the monster can also acts as part of the green screen whenever jake takes a swig

34:02 ...when that commercial break hits just right
Shoutout to Jake's color-changing Monster can
Love this show. Trebek is such a smartass
Love an ad during the commercial
How did Dan get that 12-4. Put magic. Gotta love it. Thanks jimmy and jake for the great content
Trebek with the double peace sign. Power move

Watching this right now while eating late night cereal. 😂

I love the extra narrative being created through the players🤣
Ken Lee messed up, he meant to say he was looking for the last "wild" card but Trebek knew what he meant.
I laughed myself into tears at Ken Lee
Lol working my 9 to 5 and looking up the shows in that family channel commercial. The Adventures of the Black Stallion is on RUclips.
It concerns me that Jimmy thinks a day only has 14 hours in it.
WHO KNEW the #DethroneDan movement would result in a gift like ~Ken Lee, the Memory Machine~?
Certainly not I.

In all my years (weeks) of watching concentration Ken Lee is an unmatched contestant. He was like Gerrit Cole in his last start. Lights out.
Use the commercial breaks to your advantage. Make puzzle of your own that each other has to guess in the break time.

I’m from Georgia but that preacher has a “over the top” country accent.
Frigging Jake, he says “M” at @26:34 and spit coffee on my keyboard!
I think the singer in that commercial is Dr. John
The family Channel singer sounds like the guy who sang The King of Queens theme song

Dang, the monster can started tripping me out. But the logo is green so it was acting as a green screen!
