You've inspired me to be a carpenter thank you! Stay safe, stay blessed and as always thank you.👍🙏
You've got no idea how much I appreciate that!
Man that’s some good stuff!. The type of energy we need for this upcoming year gents. Keep grinding!
@@MattBangsWood you inspired me too I just don’t know we’re to start
I’m 23 and it’s a lot of responsibility to be a framer been a framer since 14 years of age , keep it up you doing good!
It’s wild being able to do those overhangs. No worry about snow load so you can do pretty much anything.
100%. Can’t wait til I’m in Oregon and I can’t do the massive overhangs anymore.. 😪
MattBangsWood wait what about Oregon?!....
After 20+ years as a stair builder, I got into remodeling. I don't get to frame as much as I would like to, so I watch your vids for a framing fix!
Can we hit 1,500 likes for ZIP finally on the channel?
I’ve been doing this crap a long time. You got an impressive crew. And I’m impressed by a younger man like yourself with an excellent work ethic. Props to you and the guys.
I like to think I know what I'm doing at least a 1/7th of the time. Honestly, I've got a long ways to go. Just enjoy building man.
I'm sure I'm not the only one, but your vids need to be longer. I very much enjoy watching your videos. So informative and funny (at times). Really a pleasure to watch and learn. Keep up the good work dude......
I could make them quite a bit longer, I typically cut down the repetition.
I’ll work on it. 20:00+ from now on.
@@MattBangsWood Hell yea. I mean I really enjoy your videos. I get mad when its like 2 mins left lol. But fr fr, keep up the good work dude. That house is pretty big. Can't wait to see what the next project will be.
Matt in your video today through the smoke haze from the wild fires I noticed a Fox running on the rafters, lol you guys are doing an awesome job.
Been watching for about a year keep up the good work bro cause of you and how much I learned I’m going to school for carpentry
Keep them videos coming Matt just love watching.
Hey I’ve been watching your videos for sometime now. I’m a carpenter in flagstaff AZ. The “ridge” looking great!! Nice job boys!
Greg seems sage like, he answers in riddles and long flowing replies... gotta love it !
He's a good dude, stoked I got to work with him on this build!
We use zip on all residential builds out here in Massachusetts. Its great when you are working over the winter and need to get a place sealed up to beat snow. Tape your roof seams and its weather tight.
Where in Mass are you? I'm in Springfield. ZIP is great but super expensive.
@@zachbruneau358 I'm in the worcester area. Was working in Cambridge/Somerville up til covid hit, went back built a couple houses around here and now playing with the idea of being a snowbum for the winter and picking up work at a mtn/resort.
Looking good bro! Got my new boots a few weeks ago. They’re super comfy thanks for the referral! BANGON!
Which did you go with?
6” Rebar wedges

Appreciate all of your guys support!
Love ZIP!!!!
The ONLY way to go these days!!! It's worth the extra costs.
Their tape is wicked... I like to keep a role around just for different uses....
What other purposes have u used it for? I’m thinking of doing the same as well.
@@borys444 Pretty much anything for waterproofing.... The stuff can handle the sun for a long period of time as well!!!
I did have a defective window that was leaking, and we used ZIP tape to tape up the top edge to keep water from running inside of the encasement...
It sticks to anything...dirty or not and is super strong!!!!
But pricey$$$$
DawgBone thanks for reply back and input. Appreciate it! Cheers
Your smart to keep the job locked because there are random people that go through the job next to me. Awesome series Matt and work!
We've had issues with it before, I hate thieves!
MattBangsWood yea and the crew I work with hade like a couple thousand dollars in windows on a job in a tent someone stole them all. It sucks and if they are just people looking around then they could get hurt and then it’s your thought.
Last video I asked why don’t your company use zip system and on any of your projects and now on this video you are using the zip system. Keep up the great job on your videos and you answered my question.
I saw that! Haha. We'll be using it from here on out.. It's a much better build quality.
I saw the Makita tools, and I had to click like. The good Lord Makita has blessed you with his presence. Blessings be unto yee who use the tools of the Lord.
Just to clarify, all the zips systems sheets (or OSB products) should be 1/8" spaced to prevent buckling correct? I'm new to wood construction.
This work is pure beauty 😍
Nice call adding 4x it also looks great
The intro drone footage and song are 👌👌
Looking extremely good
Quick question I've been watching youre videos for a minute and im looking to invest in either the makita rear handle or the skillsaw cordless wich do you prefer or do you have a video on it thanks!!
I freakin' love that Makita rear saw, favorite tool i use
Nice video Matt
When do you use the hammer and when do you use the nail gun? Is there a difference? I want to learn carpentry
Could have explained the X ing of that board with a nail head to keep it from spiting better , some may think you were just straightening out a bent nail.
great tips, thanks for sharing!
It's the little things, hard to think about it from an outside standpoint til editing comes into play.
Looks great!!
hey Matt which part of a framing job do you dread? and which part is a breeze?
Up until the roof is terrible.. The roof and on is fun. Wall framing is just repetition over and over, constantly bent over back breaking.
hey matt how do you guys get the rafters to fit up perfectly? do you have a video showing that?
I have a video on cutting rafters coming soon!
BANG ON!
I noticed your dalluge hammer, how do you like it? I'm thinking of getting one for myself
Marvelous!
yeah I've noticed the Zip sheathing is becoming more common. Which is a good thing if you want a longer lasting roof.
Does the zip system not require hurricane clips? Or is it not in the code in cali?
5/8” roof sheathing gets rid of the need for them. Only needed with 1/2”.
Ah. That makes sense. Thank you
Awesome video. I thought that detail nailing the fascia into the end grain was sketchy too. Can you explain who decided on changing that detail? In another video you mentioned, never deviate from the plans. Thanks again for the awesome content.
We came up with the change, talked it through with superintendent and ran with it. It needed to happen..
We pushed for the change, ate the cost on it..
Those ends sticking out need a copper flashing on the top. Would look sweet.
Do you have to glue when placing OSB or can you just nail
No glue for roof sheathing. Only floor sheathing.
What’s that paw/head on nail gun and where can I purchase
I first heard "headache" 16 years ago when I was a laborer. Its a framer thing
In about 1989 I had a screwdriver pop out of my bibb overall. It was about 150 feet down with two guys standing around my staging. "Headache"! It was old then. Works better than hey, look up here.
@@michaelvangundy226 seriously. You yell heads up and a persons first reaction is to look up.
I like the end gable overhangs but why have them directly exposed to rain.
“Bang On “ 🤘🏻
Still like the 5/8 t and g advantec better.
You can pre finish, all sides, that 2×6 V- match keep it from shrinking
Some folks might use CS16 to affix the Doug fir tails, saves a lot of timber compared to the cantilever.
Nice build, crew looks good
Ain't work grand?
Hi Matt!! your channel is Legit brother, I know how much you love Makkah. What’s a great cordless saw for high production framing in your opinion?
Keep posting dope videos brother
Сайт хубервуд не открывается, печалька.
i was just wondering matt if at some stage you will ever go back and show the projects completely finished ..by the way i have enjoyed every episode cheers for the entertainment
Looks like Dennis Quaid came to work with you. 😂😂😂😂
Liked the vid before even watching it. lol
Now that's the support I like.
I was surprised when you said that a certain part was not going to work and you had to change the facia detail. Does this mean that the architect doesn't understand how pieces will go together when he draws up the plan and leaves it to you to make it work?
Zip system has nail markings where you are suppose to nail Fox was just hitting it in a straight line.
Most sheathing has markings, sometimes they line up, sometimes they don't.
I love these videos and would do anything for you to send me a sweatshirt that you always wear
That place is looking sweeter and sweeter every video. I have an idea for you. Try and secure a camera to the top of the circular saw and make some cuts or a few rips, maybe the point of view might be cool. Idk maybe not. Keep up the wicked pissah work, Stay safe and always Bang on Brother 🤘
I’m doing it, I love saw shots. GoPro with 120FPS might look rad!
How do you say your last name, just out of curiosity?
Dont feel bad no one can pronounce it and it is simple. Just like Yo. The E is silent. 🤘
Okay I’ll bite. Why isn’t everyone wearing a hard hat. Just the athletic young guys. The smarter ones.
Greg has been off in his beam factory cutting away.. Doesn't work around anyone else. Not an excuse, just the reasoning.
Gotcha. I just remember your comment at the beginning of the build and you mentioned hard hats mandatory for all on site.
At what point do you let the electrician start
What boot brand does Fox wear????
Those are Volcom skate shoes, but in boot form. They’re pretty rad!
Why are you using zip system on the roof but not on the exterior walls? I'm not a builder, I'm just curious.
Time.. I didn’t have the time frame to get ZIP Sheathing for the walls. I’m pretty bummed! Next project will be full ZIP.
@@MattBangsWood Ah, I understand...looking forward to it.
Did you have to clear adding the 4x8, with the designer?
We talked it over with Site Super. Made the change ourselves.. It needed it. The detail prior was not adequate.
@@MattBangsWood Right on , cant wait for the end result, great work!
How are you coping with the lumber prices
Does crying myself to sleep count as a coping mechanism?
Zip tape?
Where do you bought your hoodie?
We sold out.. www.mattbangswoodmerch.com/
Yo I love your work and the way you explain and show how everything works together. I'm 22 and from Maryland and look up to you bro. Just one question... What kind of forklift is that because no offense that's one of the uglier ones I've seen lol. I'm used to Lull and Skytrak over here 🤷🤷🤷
That lift will out-lift any 8K Lull or Skytrak, it's an old GEHL Dynalift! Price was right and it can lift anything you put in front of it.
Newer machine is $80K, we paid $17K for the GEHL. Paid itself off in 6 months.
@@MattBangsWood Word. I personally use a 10K Lull now but Im assuming that's around the capacity for yours too right? And the only blue lifts I've seen around here are from Ingersoll-Rand. And how far is the reach on yours? 42' ?
@@MrCito20171 Only 36' or 40', doesn't hit as far as an 8K. 20' Truss jib puts us out pretty far.
@@MattBangsWood nice. I wish we had a jib. Ours reaches 54'
Have lumber prices gone up as much they have in Alabama they have doubled since the start of the year
$15.00 sheet is now $32.00.
I’m in shock stillz
Dumb question but before you added that last 4x8 I assume you contacted the general contractor. I'm only asking because I know you have said before you build per plans and dont make changes.
We talked with the superintendent, they said they liked the idea.. We ran with it. This is one of very few times that we went above and just made the change, it needed it.
@@MattBangsWood Trust me I get it. I've read many plans that look good on paper but just dont translate to real world.
Who does Greg usually work with ? Since it’s his first time he’s came out on your channel. He seems old school and knows what he’s doing
His brother is a general, which is one of my Dads closest friends. We borrowed him for this build. 😊
Agree, entrance overhang isn't deep enough and is out of proportion. I'd pay the few grand to pull it out and replace it, because it is so prominent.
I’m glad it wasn’t just me..
Is that fog or cancer smoke from the fires?
A healthy mix.
The cost of that foundation alone jesus
oh sheet
Y'all need something more than zip y'all need Fip ,Fireproof
U don’t look like him but god u remind me of the man I work for except we don’t just Fram we take a house from concrete to home owner moving in. Just as soon as u think u found something he can’t do he ether knows exactly how to do it or he figures out quicker than u would ever think is possible
Ey how did you get your intro song? It’s pretty cool.. did u make it
RUclips's audio library!
Are you guys union or non? Nothing personal, just curious.
Zip sucks have fun rolling them seams and sealing the nails
We always say watch your sore head
Greg and I were dying of laughter.. The other day he says, "All my life, I've hated the word 'headache'.. because from far away, it sure as hell sounds like 'hey greg!'".
Can't tell you how many times I yelled it and got a response from him. LOL
Man where is q
Q's been gone for a while, miss the kid. We had some fun working together!
Compressor needs to pee!!!!!!
Hoping the flames don't reach this place. Too much work and too nice of a project.
You hope they reach it?! I hope they don't! I don't like insurance claims.
@@MattBangsWood Fixed it. Thanks for the reply. Haha
