Coyote Hunting, is part of our livelihood, it's how we protect the livestock we raise for the worlds food, and how we protect other game species that we hunt for food.

I've had to defend my calves from coyotes a couple years ago. A pack was harassing the cows and we drove with the car the first couple nights and scared them off. The third night took off on foot after them with AR-15. After a 400 yard run/jog through a pine plantation I came across a pack surrounding my girls...I centered the closest one to them and gut shot it with a FMJ. Wasn't pretty and I'm sure it died a painful death but that was the best shot I could do free hand at 100 yards out of breath. It must have made an impression because they haven't been a problem since. Predators seek easy prey...I will not allow my herd to be easy prey.
You're just making more coyotes. Since we've tried to wipe them out, they have grown in numbers and area.
@@FrankMike-s2w ridiculous. In the Civil War when they killed soldiers, did more miraculously take their place? If you keep killing coyotes, their population will decrease.
I didn’t realize the coyotes blended in so well with the grasses. The war face paint and ghillie suits are funny though. I’m thinking a beige shirt, pants, and ball cap would be sufficient from that range. 🤗🤣
ASAT camo would do the job.
That whistle works well on bulls as well. Good work protecting the beef from the wrong consumers. Thanks for the great video!

Same lol, I was like I gotta see this badass cow! XD
Most people don't realize how brutal Coyotes are when they predate a deer or a small calf. They will eat the animal they attacked alive from the rear forward. Great video and now your calves are a lot safer.
Every single predator always start from the rear, not just coyotes.
At least they eat what they kill. Do these bozos eat the coyotes they kill?
@@bebereyes5514 the real bozos are your parents for bearing a knucklehead like you. They eliminated the predator to protect the livestock , which will increase the number of cattles in the future , which will result in higher quantity of milk or meat , which will keep the price down because of enough supply , which will save consumers' money !! Can you dig it ?
@@bebereyes5514 .. Coyote backstrap is incredibly tender and tasty. Stew is great for coyote, it slowly cooks the meat, making it really tender, and there are many deep flavors that will lend themselves to the coyote meat. Stewed coyote is not so different than beef stew.
Grilled coyote works well as you can lather it with marinades, sauces, and spices. The only thing to be careful with grilling coyote is to make sure it reaches an internal temperature of 160F; this is easier to do in a stew than on a grill.
Coyote works well for most minced dishes, but my personal favorite is chili. Again the flavors of the chili lend themselves to the meat of the coyote.
Coyote needs to borrow the flavors from the surrounding dish and doesn’t really work well on its own. I wouldn’t recommend coyote steaks.
Is Coyote meat bad?
The answer to this question depends on who you ask. Is it bad for your health? Absolutely not. Does it taste bad? That depends on how you prepare it, and certainly tastes better than eating insects, but it’s not about to be replacing the Elk in my freezer
Shame they don't have a McDonald's to go to

My brother and I used to hunt in the calving area. Really not very pleasurable as you have to watch all-around your target. One thing we always noticed was the coyotes would lose their sense of caution as they were running around trying to be the first to the after birth. Very, very productive but, not the place for itchy trigger finger shooters.
We kill alot more calfs. We also tie them up in the dark to make them more tender. Trust me, we're way more vicious than coyotes. I had steak today btw 🤣. Just sayin..

great video,,,i live in north alabama,,,they were introduced here several years ago for varmint hunters to shoot. They were not here in my childhood. They are opportunistic hunters, just doing what nature does. Catching the easiest meal they can kitties, ducks, cats, rabbits, ground birds, quail, field lark, snakes, chickens, farm animals and the like. Ive not killed many but ive seen them in the industrial park areas about town and on college campus, hunting where they can. My rottweiler got 4 of them several years ago. She weighed about 105 and brought them to the back porch to show them off. I found them there with her showing them off. No blood, no torn skin. But every bone i could find was well chewed. Legs, neck, ribs, back, every bone. it was like hamburger in a skin. I never heard a sound, just found the killer with a big smile on her face, and brown victim well chewed!!
Isn’t that something 😂
Coyotes were found all across America. They were most likely exterminated and became extinct in your area before they were re-introduced. Sucks when they take down non-wild animals, but they have a place as an Apex predator. People’s cats are invasive animals and kill more birds and do environmental damage than people realize.
Good eliminate them. Like the wild hogs.

That's a cute story, your lucky you didn't have a dead Rottweiler, they must be smaller down south in the more urban areas and flat lands. You get up into the mtns of va/ky/WV them coyotes are alot bigger and meaner don't care what kind of dog u got, they'll get your dog to chase it and there will be 3 or 4 more waiting on your cute little dog ! The 3 or 4 it killed must of been pups because that's highly unusual
Your video shows just how well the coyote's fur colour blends with the landscape.
Excellent video, and congratulations on nailing Wiley.
Some may think this is cruel but it's not. Years ago a cattle rancher asked my friends and I to dispatch as many ground squirrels as we could because his cattle were breaking legs from all of the holes the squirrels were digging. I rent some pole barn storage on an old farm and sometimes I’m there late at night and I’ll hear the Coyotes yipping. Several times I’ve walked out of the barn and shined my flashlight out into the field and I’ll see 4 to 8 pairs of eye shine looking back at me. About 10 years ago is the only time I’ve seen one in the daytime and it was crossing the road in front of me. It definitely wasn’t a German Shepard as it trotted with its head down as it looked around. I’m guessing it was 60 to 80 pounds. A hunter I talked to a few years ago told me about the time he fell asleep in his mini hunting shack in northern Wisconsin with his head next to an opening. He awoke to a wolf or Coyotes face just inches from his. He doesn’t know if it was about to sniff him or lick his face. He’s been out hunting and encountered them in groups surrounding him taunting him until he started shooting at them and then they scattered.
My pole barn storage is east of St.Paul near the St.Croix river.
@@MustangsTrainsMowers Yes, you need to be prepared. I had my boys tent camping with me on our property in northern Wisconsin last week. At 4:30 am the yipping and “screaming” sounds picked up real good as more than one had surrounded a deer for dinner. The boys spent a lot of the next day looking for the scraps. It was a good visual for them to understand the tenacity of a hungry wild animal that can’t stop by the grocery store for a nice cleaned up piece of meat for dinner. We then spent time working on our marksmanship. A lot of folks have been getting out of the urban areas since COVID and don’t fully understand “the great outdoors”. Be safe, be prepared my friends.

I have a friend that was hired by a cattle rancher to kill coyotes. He would tie up his dog out in the middle of nowhere and hunker down in camo. He stopped at around 50 kills. His dog was pissed at him for about a year🤣🤣🤣 it took a few weeks to manage the coyote population.
We here in southern Indiana can hunt coyotes year round day or night they are invasive to our area and are attacking live stock and pets and DNR says can hurt the deer population they have lost fear of humans and have bit people that were sitting hunting and fishing not a good thing .
Same here in Canada, there is no season and no bag limit. They're considered pests so its more like culling than hunting. And they're breeding with wolves so getting more aggressive and bold.

We have had nothing but increasing levels of grief from these predators in our farming communities in PA, especially the ones near "national forests" and "state game preserves" since
the geniuses in government reintroduced coyote to "control" deer 40+ years ago. Keep in mind they are opportunistic hunters. When the deer are depopulated by the predation and/or
the fact that they can run away, these varmints eat ANYTHING they can get at while following them. They devastated one retired farmer's heritage sheep lambs one year; killed his
herd dogs too. They are maiming and killing larger livestock if the packs are big enough.
Not 2 miles from my house a pack even killed a prized and beloved Hefflinger mare who was protecting her new foal.
What's worse is hunters have trapped/shot /killed wolf-coyote hybrids that have been moving out of more heavily forested areas, and not just in leaner years.
I knew a lady that hated me for killing coyotes. Until one grabbed her poodle. All of a sudden she didn't want them around any longer. So I stopped hunting them in her area. Hopefully, she will lose another poodle.
You got to ask yourself, why does the government want to depopulate our deer population or any of our wildlife. The fish and game are not willing to control the Wolf problem and Wyo. either, they’re killing off the deer and Elk. There goes our food source. Just stop and think about it with what is going on grocery stores today. Government control 🤷🏼♂️
I have to interject. There is absolutely ZERO proof the PGC introduced a single coyote, ever. The only accounts are from a person/persons saying they did. It's like mountain lions in PA. People have stories but no evidence. Where is the hard, irrefutable truth? There isn't any.
I am not a fan of the PGC, believe me. In my mind they are a necessary evil. But proclaiming the PGC introduced them is simply a legend handed down. And for the record, there is wolf DNA in every canine. This includes coyotes.
I have read the studies done by legitimate institutions and it appears there is evidence that the eastern coyote has bred with wolves at some point. This is assumed to be true because the percent or amount of wolf DNA in eastern coyotes is far greater than their western counterparts.
If you think about it this further supports the idea that the PGC did not introduce these animals. What it suggests is that the western coyotes slowly spread eastward, and along the way in the northern areas such as Canada, Michigan, Maine, etc. there was some kind of crossbreeding with wolves. Then as the spreading continued the coyotes pushed east and south. The end result is what we have in PA, large coyotes with a penchant for sometimes hunting in packs, something the western coyotes tend not to do.
If you ask those from the southern states who hunt or trap coyotes, the average size is more comparable to the western coyote. This suggests ours primarily came from the north.
As far as the rest of your post, I agree completely. These animals are incredibly adaptable and will eat damned near anything.
They introduced them to destroy your farms. They don't are about deer.
@@philup6274 There is absolutely no definitive proof coyotes were introduced. We could get into a discussion about the PGC but we don't need to. Simply find evidence beyond hearsay, like sworn testimony, video footage, a paper trail, anything. If someone can do that then it would be proven. Otherwise, it isn't.
Think about this. Where is the greatest source of income for the PGC? Licenses, plain and simple. What is the number one animal that results in the sale of the most licenses? Deer. The PGC would be shooting themselves in the foot if they decimated the deer herd. Yes, the numbers are lower than when I was young. Yes, much of the mountains in North Central PA do not have good feed for deer at this time. But the percentage of bigger bucks is much higher. The overall health of the herd is much better. The size of the animals themselves is larger.
I don't know the endgame for the PGC and its plans. But I can pretty much guarantee ruining the deer herd is not in their agenda.
Awsome guys! Great shooting and calls!
