  • Here is a vintage documentary - "The Flamboyant Years: St. Louis in the Twenties" (1962). This film visits the people, places and events that made this era unique in St. Louis: the Cherokee Businessmen's Street Carnival, the Veiled Prophet Ball and Parade of 1922, the 1926 World Champion Cardinals with Rogers Hornsby, the tornado of 1927 and the development of the city under Mayor Henry Kiel.

6:06 "the girls fainted at a rate of 1 a minute"...stated like that, the numbers could be anywhere from as few as 2, to as many as 2 hundred, maybe more! Who knows? Let's hope those girls all turned out okay afterward.
