It had been maybe 6 to 8 months since my last ear cleaning. I took my mom and my friend @Zeekman for ear cleanings. It was agreed that I had the most ear wax of the group. Their videos will come later.
Today, I am with May of Toy Apple Beauty Salon & Barbershop, in Chinatown, Doyers Street Alleyway with May. She is Malaysian-Chinese, and has skills of the ancient art of Chinese ear picking, ear cleaning, and total ear wax removal. How does she do this? She has sticks. For the rest, you just have to watch.

Minimal ear wax because I do this for myself with Chinese tools. It’s not quite as good because I can’t see, and don’t want to damage the eardrum.

Got my ears cleaned in Thailand for about $3 USD. It was amazing. Never had it done before. The lady’s are very careful and know what they are doing.

@@road66runner3 Appointments for the Ear Wax Removal can range from $50-$200, As she is not a Professional but really good at it I should say that She could price it from $25+. You should learn how inflation effects everything meaning Job Prices and Wage, Thus meaning if inflation continues that $10 is gonna feel like $100.

A squeaky clean canal doesn't protect your ear drum from bugs, foreign particles and debris...wax is there for a reason.

Yes very bad idea and it isn't wax but dead skin that automatically migrates from your ear. By being picked you will get scat tissue.

Saw this video a while ago and finally went there today. I was hesitant at first cause it’s mainly a hair salon and worried I was somehow wrong/weird just coming in for an ear pick but I saw it on the menu and got it. For my first time it was fine, simply that. It did hurt after a while but it was tolerable maybe it had something to do with my ears definitely not her. I didn’t have a lot of earwax as I was expecting a gold mine but it a good first experience. Would I go again? Maybe but it’s not something that I excitedly await. The lady was really sweet too and was honest lol.

Jason Rupp yes and thank you for this video. would have never have known about it if it weren’t for this video and I practically grew up in Chinatown (don’t physically live there just frequently went from different borough). Especially since the Asian hate crimes. I’m glad Chinatown is getting love and hopefully people can also expand their food palettes and the other things Chinatown has to offer.

Your ears probably had some inflammation from it somehow. Either that or the ear is just not used to not having wax in it.
@@minteaas when you haven't cleaned your ears before or in a very very long time like months, it sort of feels painful or like your ears are swollen but the more you do it/regularly, it stops feeling that way. Like starting from the 2nd time

Nice! I wonder Jason, have you had a Filipino Hilot massage before? It hurts a little (sometimes a lot) but its very effective. It removes the lamig (coldness) in the body and from specific points. We use it as our traditional medicine, along with drinking certain herbal teas (the Manghihilot would either prescribe you to take some traditional herbal remedies, or just have a hot bath after your Hilot session)
I would totally lovr to try that.

A healthy ear canal should have ear wax. It stops bacteria and drying out of the skin inside. This extreme cleaning increases the change of problems.

yes but some people like myself have a lot of ear wax build up and sometimes cant hear well. I do at home cleaning with over the counter products and also get mine professionally cleaned out by a doctor

From the internet: Ear wax protects the ear by: Trapping and preventing dust, bacteria, and other germs and small objects from entering and damaging the ear. Protecting the delicate skin of the ear canal from getting irritated when water is in the canal.
When it starts to harden, it doesnt really serve these purposes and will really need getting cleaned out
@@jongerchua366 hmmm... I guess I don't know what that's like. I'm nearly 60 years old and have never ever had to have someone else clean my ears. I assume this is a "rare" occurrence and not a procedure needed by the average person???
@@JB-le6zm you might want to try or get it checked for good measure! In severe cases, the wax gets so thickened or hardened along with the trapped dust, germs and objects (Eg hair), it blocks and reduces hearing. Hearing is very important day to day afterall.
If you use cotton buds to dry or clean your ear somehow after shower or so, that might causes buildup too. Some people are not aware and pushes all the wax in and accumulate at the end of the ear canal with a big tipped cotton bud instead of swabbing everything out with a thinner one.
When I first started cleaning my ears daily around 20+, maybe like a ?decade after I last had it cleaned by my mum, there are CHUNKS. For a 50-60ish years old, you might wanna get it checked :)
@@jongerchua366 I've had my hearing checked and in the words of my ENT... I have "dog ears". I was complaining of vibration or buzzing when in church or listening to the radio in my car. Very annoying... anyway, my hearing is exceptional and very sensitive to higher pitches...🙉

Am I seeing things or is the fluffy ear pick really dirty? As much as I'd love to try this, I don't think I'll ever actually get it done, unless they use completely new tools on me and/or sterilize everything right in front of me - just not worth the ear infection, no matter how good it might feel.

I have to have my ears cleaned out a couple of times a year by my ear specialist. This is definitely something you would want your doctor to do. Ears are actually created to clean themselves in a way. My ear doctor explained that to me. However, if you have ever had an ear surgery or work done on your ears, then you will have to get your ears cleaned by a professional. Never do it yourself.

I recommend calling to make sure May is working the day you want to go. But appointments aren't necessary.
