Oh my god Kim! Another adult woman who LOVES this game?! Thank the gods I found you. I have been obsessed with this game before bed. It’s just so perfect to relax and enjoy a game without it being overly boring or overly stressful. I loved the emphasis on treasure hunting. I’ve always loved DQ games but now that I’m older I have kids and a job and house and marriage… gaming gets pushed to the side a bit and games like this fit that spot perfectly for me. I cannot explain how happy this video made me!
I do hope that with Dragon Quest XII that they keep the turn based combat. I do enjoy the other Dragon Quest games that offer different types of gameplay, but I want the main games to hold onto to the more classic Dragon Quest gameplay.
This game looks awesome. I love exploring and farming, but don't really like straight up farming games, so this looks right up my alley, since I also love Dragon Quest. Great video as always!

When i bought the game i played it for a bit and enjoyed it, i picked it up again recently and now i am addicted, collecting all the treasure and seeing all the easter eggs from past games has been a major source of dopamine for me recently. These easter eggs don't just stop at the mainline game, but even the smallest of dragon quest side games has a presence, is insane.
I love DQ games. And this one is a ton of fun. It is like builder's in the way you can just get lost doing stuff. I love that you have thousands of items, weapons, statues to find in various states of quality. 4 of 5 stars.
I was hoping this game would be amazing and it sounds very fun! Reminds me of the OG dragon quest monsters on GBC which I played for hours. Can’t wait!
Have you guys tried Dragon Quest Builders Games? It is an action base type game. It's like Minecraft with questing and a deep story for both games. There's also a lot of nostalgia especially in dragon Quest Builders 2.

I just picked this up at my local Book off for 1500 yen. Started playing this on the way to a family adventure and was pleased how lighthearted it is. The game is fun so far. Definitely a big change after finishing Diablo 4’s campaign this morning 😂 thank you for the awesome review!

Looks interesting. I wish you could control the monsters you recruit. When I first bought DQ 8 (my first DQ game) I was kinda disappointed it was a turned based game but I fell in love with the series. DQ 11 is my favorite. With that said, I'm glad they finally made this one an action rpg.

Im definitely not a hardcore Dragon Quest fan by any means but I definitely appreciate the impact the series has had on video games as a whole. If anything this game has made me appreciate the series more and makes me want to check out some of the other games.
Hearing real game players and Japanese Anime fans is a big plus when talking about Dragon Quest games and even this spin off side quest game because one of the biggest problem with always hearing and reading the so called gamer journalists is that they get into these stupid comparison contests, they rave that the game is fun but then turn around and give a lesser game from another franchise that is not as fun way too much attention but also they tend to come off like they do not appreciate the style of the videogames.... great video.
I wish we'd get a Dragon quest builders 3 - DQB is my favorite part of the franchise but there doesn't seem to be any progress on a third installment :(
I never really played this series other than builders but I love a cozy relaxing game like this. Would it be worth getting even if I haven't played the main entries yet?
I wonder if this is a somewhat trial run of what they want to do with DQ12. Like what you both were talking about with the battle mechanics, that you get to fight with monsters and instead of turn-based it will be an action game. After finishing Dragon Quest XI I liked it more. During the game play, however, I felt it was waaaaay too long. These games need to dial back their lengths unless they can support the players' interest like Zelda BOTW did.
wow i thought i was the only one thinking the conductor and also that train there remind me to the Galaxy Express 999 (but the train like that was also in DQIX forThe Starflight Express)😆
So the only worry i have is this would be like final fantasy maxima where it was super catering to small children. If this game is like that I dont want it but if its actually a really good DQ game like monsters is then im interested. Im not worried about graphics. Im playing the new etrian odyssey right now lol
Thank you for this review. I had been feeling a bit salty that they created this game instead of a DQB3 game. Looks like it will be a fun little mindless comfort game for sure.
All I wanted was a demo. See when you mention the graphics being iffy, it reminds me of the DQXI Definitive Switch demo, where the faces of characters were super blurry and the grass would blur and sharpen with every step, it drove me nuts. Now I have the Definitive version on PS4 & while it doesn't look as good as the vanilla version, it's much better. Also, DQ Treasures is a brand new spin-off, like you said, you really don't know anything about it until playing. I really wanted a demo, demos sell games & Square just refuses to release one. I originally threw this on my Christmas list for family & then removed it cause it's a big question mark game & now I wanna see how it looks for myself, graphically, before ever buying it. Harvestella meanwhile, which actually got a demo, I know I want thanks to the demo & is the only game on my list this year.
Hmm...I wonder if this game is gonna be like the Pokemon Legends to gen 9 (Scarlet & Violet), only for Dragon Quest 12. Legends tried out open world stuff before gen 9 did it in a mainline game, and we know DQ12 isn't going to use menu & commands style gameplay. This could be their side game attempt at action combat to see if DQ fans like it before doing it in a mainline game. Though I guess the Dragon Quest Heroes games also exist...Though they might see those as targeting different people since those are musou/warriors games. Treasures is probably closer to regular DQ fans.
I still remember when this game was going to be a Monsters game. I am really excited for this game it looks like a lot of fun. I still hope we get a Monsters game though or ports of the older ones to the Switch.

I wish Blue Dragon had this type of combat. They should remake that game with today's graphics and improve on the story. I think it would be a hit.

What a love letter Nino kuni, similar kinda combat, recruiting monsters and similar art style. The boss battles took me back too

Only channel I see with a review. Even the all/mostly Nintendo channels are just covering MK8 DLC.
A recent dq enthusiast, I picked it up, trying to decide whether to play this or dq4 on ds next. Either way, love the series!

I don't think they will change the combat of mainline DQ.
I doubt that. Dragon Quest mainline series will most likely continue to use the turn based combat we are used to. I can't see them changing it.

Recruiting monster is something I felt missing on XI, if it had the monsters arena like VIII it would be the perfect game
