@@hansmoleman2666 I wouldn't call it awful at all, but 1 and 2 are very underrated for sure, especially when compared to the massive hype for the third. 1 was certainly clunky and storytelling was disjointed and at times downright confusing, but it had the great atmosphere and actual character developments of a great indie flick, that big budget blockbusters can't reproduce. 2 was actually very impressive for its time on a technical level, story was more concise but not lacking in scope. And 3 was a massive improvement on all technical aspects, but very polished and streamlined, to a point of feeling sterile. When it comes to occasional replays for a few hours, I always go to the first. But nostalgia may play a role for sure.
I vote for option 4. I loved Redemption, it introduced me to VTM, but from what I see, you have the chance to create something new and possibly even superior, considering the limitations they had at the time and the lack of faithfulness to the original material. This could be an opportunity for all of us to play a VTM role-playing game on PC after so many years, especially given the low expectations I have for Bloodlines 2 :( Whatever the final choice will be, thank you for the work you are doing, congratulations and good luck!
My vote is option 4. I still think that there should still be a time skip since no other game these days really tries something like this, but play with that idea in your own way. For everyone to create their own character but still experience the daunting setting change of medieval times to 90s New York or whatever city you end up using. With the utter disappointment of Vampire the masquerade 2 on the horizon, you're the last shimmer of hope for Bloodlines fans.
It's really an (almost) all or nothing option for me - either a suitably close enough recreation of the original game (Option 1), or a completely original story in the spirit of the original (Option 4).
As so many below I also chose 4, I loved redemption and count it as one of the games that meant most to me but you guys have the chance to create something new in the spirit of redemption..... I think it's the greatest homage you can give Redemption.
Redemption was my first introduction to the world and this is the first I heard someone was even trying to remake it. I would love to see option 1 and then leading onto option 4. But maybe option 4 with the same/similar idea/flow as the original would be really good
Not copyright infringement, but they might try patent infringement for original mechanics, similar to how Nintendo is suing Palworld for Pokemon patent infringement.
I vote 4. Took me a long time to decide between that and 1, but eventually I figured that, clunky though it may be, Redemption already exists, and I can always just play it if I want to. A completely new VTM story made by people who actually care (unlike Bloodlines 2 is shaping up to be, by all appearances) is a treat too good to miss out on.
Either option 4 or option 1. I have high confidence in your team to faithfully recreate the original or make an entierly new game. I am personaly more interested in making my own character and exploring a lore acurate world of darkness with an original story. I understand many are fans of the original redemtion but i believe your team can maitain the themes of the original while working with unrestricted freedom. As you have said the legality of this progect has already forced you to change some things and that is partially why my 1st pick is for option 4.

Option 1 for me. I would like to see a fully fleshed out VTM game true to the source material from you, this is canonical and correct for fans and connoisseurs
A remake of Redemption is what caught my attention in the first place, but I'd be interested in seeing what you make either way. My vote really depends on how much you would have to cut and butcher the story to create something close to the first game. We might be better off with a spiritual successor, legally speaking at the very least. I've been impressed so far so I'm sure whatever you end up doing will be worth keeping an eye on.
Option 4. You guys are doing so much that i would love to see what else you come up with. I would miss some of the old coterie, but i think getting to explore some new stuff would be great. My desire to play as a lasombra may also have a small part to play in this.
I go with the 4 , I think all of you are doing the best to maintain the spirit of the world of darkness and would be a pleasure a game create by fans for fans with new stories . People could vote through the process about for example the cities and other things . How about Venice - renaissance times(giovanni) - Salamanca / Inquisition times (La sombra) - Seul / 21th century (ventrue/toreador) and Los angeles ( the end with the fallen angel-boss final) you can even expand the editions with more cities and stories :) I'd would pay money for that 100%.
Can't wait. I think you should do it the safest way legal-wise. It is quite disheartening to hit that kind of a roadblock and need to remake some work that was already done. (i would be fine with option 4)
I was worried that this project would be abandoned like so many others and love seeing that you guys are making so much progress in such short time! This has so much potential both as a "Remake" as well as a template for you to continue making new awesome VTM & WoD content! 🦇🖤
Many years back now I wanted to do a remaster of VTM:R in a custom engine based on Quake 2 source code, if memory serves. The legality was an absolute nightmare to navigate and ultimately all our work ended up being reused as mods for the original game. Activision is probably second only to EA with being a nightmare to deal with. Stripping out all IP they could come after you for is a smart move. I ended up developing my own IP that I now play as a tabletop alternative to White Wolf's VTM, I gave up long ago trying to keep it 100% legal issue free, it's for my own use and none of it has been or will be published anyway. This is the major issue with indy/mod community development, IPs sit on shelves for decades but none of the IP holders will allow anyone else to do anything with them and they vehemently go after anyone who so much as sneezes in the direction of using something they can prove in a court is theirs. Been following for a while now, you have my utmost interest and support. Good luck to you all!
As a Fan of the original White Wolf World of Darkness and into the Skyrim modding scene, I am really impressed with this project. Well done guys, I'm looking forward to playing this one day.
I vote 4: As much as I would love to have a full redo of the original Redemption game, part of me wants a fully realized new concept, characters, places, and story. The work you've done on this is incredible! I only wish I had known about this project years ago because I would've tried my hand at helping - unfortunately, that cannot happen now. The fact you're using Skyrim as a base made me smile.
Gotta vote for 4. The original idea would've been amazing, but ultimately, we already have Redemption at home. I'd rather have something new than "almost Redemption".
I think this is by far one of the most impressive mods ever. Really well done guys, the community built around this is so positive and I'm glad to be along for the ride. Best of luck with development, I cannot wait to play this!
Option 1 for sure. Option 4 or 3 would be better for a spin off if you ever feel like doing another project afterward. I personally followed this project for Christof and Anezka, and the love story which made me sit through Redemption's uneven gameplay, so that's what I'd love to see. Best of luck, either way!
Adding to the choir I think you should either do 1 or 4, in my opinion as someone who hasn't played Redemption, I would love to play it in this Black Mesa esque version, however if that isn't feasible, then do 4.
I really love the complication during the feeding mechanic. May I suggest that some area may be more at risk or other less. Like feeding in the middle of a decent neighbourhood (like a solitude) I don't know if there is any place in the game currently where an area is believe to be live in by upper class folks. You could have like different sort of urban locals, like Slums, -- highest risk of disease but no risk of masquerade....-- while a neighborhood with more wealthy people might have more presence of security, night watch and more chance for breaking the masquerade. Also maybe if there is such a thing...Rural vs Urban settlement -- Rural may have less of a chance of breaking the law, and/or breaking the masquerade because of remoteness to sheriff or any sort of re-inforcement for lawmen or whatever. But maybe Rural folk are more traditional and superstitious with the likelihood of having true faith. Like breaking and entering a home with a home owner of true faith may reveal you as a creature of the night. Maybe True Faith NPC have a very high level of perception and may industand what you are. While maybe the people in the city or the aristocrat who indulge in all their vices maybe be more succeptable to your vampire manipulation, and very rarely equip with true faith. More security, Less chance of getting disease, but more chance of breaking the law. But all of that might be way outside the scope of this mod. Anyways you guys are amazing everything you are doing with this mod is crazy amazing to me.
I vote for option 4, I never played the original and really only approached this project because I have wanted for years to play a true vampire game that wasn't bloodlines (bloodlines 2 looks seems like a failure already). In my opinion creating your own game and just using the mechanics from WOD is something we will never see from major corporation devs again and yalls team seem like the only ones willing to do the work to make a vampire game that all of the fans will love and enjoy. Its my hope that if you go about making your own game we will see options never presented in "offical" content. personally I want to play as a Tzimicse in a video game and option 4 gives me the best chance at that.
I finished playing VTMR earlier this week and I can't wait to be able to eventually play the mod when its finished. It looks really awesome so far, Skyrim as a base was a really good pick for an undertaking like this. Edit: Option 1, no doubt about it. I do not wish to see the story and themes of the original game detracted or entirely butchered with Options 2 or 3. I came for VTMR, so I would want this project to be as close to VTMR as it possibly can be. It's a shame my favorite coterie members, Samuel and Lily will have to be axed no matter what option. I don't know that much about the actual lore of World of Darkness as I've only played VTMB and VTMR, so take my next opinion for a grain of salt, but I also heavily detest the idea of Serena surviving to the modern age instead of Wilhem. I don't think it'd make much sense both canonically (from my limited knowledge) and thematically since Cappridocians were nearly completely wiped out somehow and because Wilhem is the one who first talked with Christof about the Road of Humanitatis near the beginning of his unlife, which is referred back to when we reunite with Wilhem, now aligned with the Sabbat under Ecaterina, in modern times. I don't think Serena could have that same kind of pay-off in the story. I know character depth wasn't the original game's strong suit, but in terms of all the coterie members, Serena had the least going on, she just wasn't that interesting to me. I know rewrites of the story are happening, but I'd still opt to use whoever is replacing Wilhem in this particular aspect of the game's story. tl;dr The story beats should remain the same, characters should also remain true to their original personalities but be given more depth that helps elevate the themes of guilt and redemption in unlife VTMR prominently has. Option 1 all the way. Option 4 is second best especially if the team is itching to make new stories and new characters. I wouldn't mind seeing what would come of this, but I'm mostly just looking for a good remake of this classic game. Thanks for the update, it was fun seeing what was new and what was changed from the last one. I wish the best of luck on both legal and development sides of the project since a lot of these sorts of things falter and are never finished for one reason or another. I hope I'll be able to play this as a finished remake of VTMR in the future :)
Serena is mentioned in another canonical WoD work, making her safe territory. We looked at every character, and if they were not mentioned outside of the original video game, they had to be cut.
Option 3 or 4 are a total win, for me. You guys get to make a project that keep the spirit of the original, without the fear and uncertainty that dealing with two of the most greedy an litigious companies in the videogame industry. You also dodge any possible comparison bias from the players or the creative chains that making a remake brings. Us players and supporters, on the other hand, get to play and enjoy a true product of passion. EDIT: Yeah Yeah... no such things as option 5. Got it! 🤣
Only just discovered your project but this honestly seems like good news to me. Since so much of the original game leaned in to Masquerade canon, being freed of the obligation to adapt the vanilla storyline with-you know-actual sophisticated writing, your team can go to town now, poring through all those wonderful source books and making something completely unique. You've got license now to improve on the original in any way you deem fit.
Option 4 Cut loose and enjoy the freedom you have! You can still pay homage and respect the original very easily this way, yet still explore exciting story ideas without your hands being tied! Go for it!
It is really exciting for me to see this project have been developed this far. I'd definitely stick with Option 1, and in Option 1, you can also add VTM DA and Modern materials while sticking to the original story too. Thanks for your hardwork!
Option 4 seems like the best bet. It's the least likely to have any potential legal issues, and it allows for more writing freedom. If you can't basically remake Redemption, then you may as well make your own game with its own interesting storyline and characters, not restricted to the original plot or pre-existing characters.
Cautiously but optimistically voting for number 4 as that has the most potential and the safest bet in my eyes, though if wanting to stick to the remake route then 1 would be the ideal. I know the original point of the project was to be a remake of this game, and as much as I would love to see that vision come true, I do feel like the legality of it is too temperamental to reliably feel safe pursuing a super faithful remake and I think the absolute worst outcome that I have been dreading the thought of for awhile now would be to see this project and all this work get shut down because one of the IP holders changed their mind on permissions for whatever reason, which we see happen all the time unfortunately. That's the cynical reason why I'd lean towards 4. However the very positive and perhaps overly ambitious reason is that I think with all of this groundwork laid out into ironing out the mechanical foundation of the game that's detached from the main plot itself, there's serious potential here for an entirely new story and content set in this universe with a lot of work and care put into the feel of it to make it fit into the World of Darkness proper. Also all of the creative and narrative freedom for you guys to do what you want with it and to also maybe extend that freedom to the players to have a solid VtM roleplaying experience. Ultimately though, that all comes down to what the team feels they can realistically and reasonably see through and write for this and what your main goals and ambitions with the project are. With all of the passion and effort and care for making this fit the WoD feel and lore, I think either route will turn out fantastic and will be a worthwhile experience that I'm looking forward to.
Wow the amount of love and care has gone into this is amazing, and the fact we're seeing how the mod is becoming its own thing is perfect.... sadly we cant say that about bloodlines 2
Once again passionate nodders making a real video game with much more effort and faster than any major game studio can in the last ten years ( Except for from software, they're the real deal)
I have never fully experienced VTM: Redemption. I watched Outstar play it over a century ago and enjoyed it for the most part so I definitely will not be upset with a more faithful recreation. But both that Let's play she played and the game itself were made in different times. Now companies like to have a stranglehold on their IP's and are perfectly ok with sacrificing good faith with their customers. More than anything I want this game to be made with no strings attached, no corporate bastards mandating yours or our fun. My vote is either Option 2 to have Christoff and his story returned to us with less anxiety of needing to kiss up to Activision, or, if there is even the slightest complication, my choice is number 4. If I were to be specific about Number 2, I think a happy middle ground, plot wise, is to make Christoff our central protagonist, starting and ending with him, and in the middle we play as a custom character handling a similar or related problem whom we can then later recruit as Christoff. We can have both an established protag and then one of our own invention within the same coterie.
I can't believe I just found this. I spent years on the original, and learning to make maps and building a whole city in there. This is so exciting, even with the issues you encountered
Option 4 is the most interesting one to me, but I think that's cause I'm just hungry for a new vtm game with actual character creation and an unvoiced protag.
I like to see you make choice 1; this was a game that had such a good story. But given the legal issue you may face, choice 4 may be your best bet, which is a good a new story by also sad not getting to replay your take on one of my favourite game. Now when you're ready to play, downloading can be fun, it can be a pain, so I have suggestion have you looked at what Fallout London did when working with GOG Galaxy.
I’ve been dreaming of seeing VTMR remastered with updated textures and enhancements, but after watching this video, I’m almost speechless. The game already looks fantastic! It’s tough to pick an option, but I wanted to share some thoughts. Option 1 seems like the best way forward-it keeps the core elements we all love: the story, characters, dialogue, cutscenes, locations, quests, and more. It's the easiest to implement, and most importantly, it holds great value for longtime fans of the game. Options 2 and 3 are less appealing to me compared to Option 4, so I’ll set them aside for now. As for Option 4, which proposes creating an entirely new game with fresh characters, dialogue, locations, and lore-it feels like the kind of thing that deserves its own separate release. Why not launch a Kickstarter and develop a full standalone VtM game on Unreal, Unity, or another engine? Writing new lore, dialogue, and crafting meaningful character dynamics takes a lot of time, and those are exactly the things that make a game truly captivating. It might be better to focus that effort on building a new game from the ground up, find a publisher, or even start your own studio. This way, you could make something truly original and earn the funding and recognition it deserves. In the meantime, Option 1 feels like the perfect solution for fans who just want to relive VTMR in its best possible form without compromising the essence of the original.
a handful of us nerds did the Shadowrun Returns mod 'Snes Reboot' - from the old Super Nintendo game 'Shadowrun' - trying to find out who 'currently' holds the IP to that was impossible. so we just did it anyways - finished as it can be - we've had no hate mail
I vote option 4. You have the oppertunity to go full enderal and make your own VTM game now. Quite frankly i enjoyed the idea behind redemption more than i enjoyed the story. it didnt really dive into the topics that made it so interesting. There are only a few important concepts that should remain imo: 1. The new main character originates from medieval times. 2. There will be a timeskip. The idea of a medieval man having to struggle and learn to thrive in a modern setting is a fascinating concept.

My Vote would go for Option 4
Got it! 🤣
5? There is no 5
@@tsivilsඞwhere we're going we don't need 5
I would choose 4th option
I like to see integrity even I the suits are garbage. Will continue to follow the progect.
Looks really good! Great job to everyone involved. Can't wait to play it!
Going to have to go for option 4. Seems the safer option, and i'm rather keen on the idea of a mostly or even completely original VtM game 🧛
This is now the most wanted game for me. Vtm r was such an important game to me when I was growing up
Option 1 is my choice. I will also log into Discord if necessary to cast my Vote for Option 1. Great Work Galejro
Take 4. Show them what makes a good story driven game.
I'll play the shit out of this no matter which route you take.
In my vote i like 1 and 4
Option 4
Cut loose and enjoy the freedom you have!
I pray to caine and every mage out their to allow this thing a proper place in reality
Удачи и терпения с первым пунктом, игра моего детства должна повторять сюжет с вашими дополнениями
I vote option 4
Lo espero con muchas Ansias. Saludos desde Lima, Peru. Gran trabajo ! Plan 1
4 for sure
Wow the amount of love and care has gone into this is amazing, and the fact we're seeing how the mod is becoming its own thing is perfect.... sadly we cant say that about bloodlines 2
Shooting is more like Fallout 4 than some fireaems mod for Skyrim, quite impressive =)
I vote for 3 and 4. Great job! Can't wait.
Really glad I saw an article about this, I'm excited.
Once again passionate nodders making a real video game with much more effort and faster than any major game studio can in the last ten years
( Except for from software, they're the real deal)
Dude the elevator is the number one-and-only candidate for "fasttravel" implementing 🙏
I can't believe I just found this. I spent years on the original, and learning to make maps and building a whole city in there. This is so exciting, even with the issues you encountered
4 for the win
My vote is 4.
My personal vote: option 2, alternatively option 4, if 2 is unfeasible. Do the thing that is legally the safest route for you.
Holy moly, this looks insanely good.
I can't wait for you guys to release this and show White Wolf how it should be done.
Amazing what you are doing! I can't wait to play. Greetings from Brazil.
This is so wholesome. I wish you guys the best and will keep an eye on your development! 🤘
Thank god this project is still alive!
This mod is gonna be sooo good 😮
I’ve been dreaming of seeing VTMR remastered with updated textures and enhancements, but after watching this video, I’m almost speechless.
Very well done. All involved should be proud. We are very excited!
Great job guys!
i pick Option 4
AWESOME!!!
I would pick 4, give us some new story not the same old stuff especially as you can't make a close remake anyway.
I vote option 4.
You have the oppertunity to go full enderal and make your own VTM game now.
Quite frankly i enjoyed the idea behind redemption more than i enjoyed the story. it didnt really dive into the topics that made it so interesting.
There are only a few important concepts that should remain imo:
1. The new main character originates from medieval times.
2. There will be a timeskip. The idea of a medieval man having to struggle and learn to thrive in a modern setting is a fascinating concept.
Ummm just stumbled across this and this is a game I've wanted my entire life. Thank you all.
Option 4 100%
Option 4 all the way, the original story has been told and it's time to venture to new grounds. These reports proof that you can do this!
