Ustad Shujat always brings out the best of any lyrics, songs, poetry, folk songs with the mastery of his prowess over both vocal and sweetest sitar music. In this piece, Ghalib's poetry has been so beautifully rendered. "Hui Muddat Ghalib Mar Gaya Lekin, phir bhi yad aata hai, Woh harek Baat pe Kahena, Ki yun hota to kya hota"
Ustad takes me to another world of solace, peace and joy. Such a soulful combination of voice and sitar. How can one be so simple and such deep singer? Incredible . Running short of words.. much love and more
Our Honourable Ustad SitarVadak Shujaat H. Khan.... Bhaijaanji, when gets moved by any poetic line.. written by any poet .. from anywhere, simply closes his eyes to feel the depth of each of those words first.... and in a very natural way, his fingers start to find out the exact tune, matched with the line and he himself starts singing on and on and on... and finally completes his chosen raag... and then starts playing with the speed... in a full swing.. till the end.. as I have marked each time. Each soothing, touched tuned word, goes on recurring within the inner soul of each comer in the hall.. even after leaving the hall.... with no end to reach The End.. . even. High Regards !

Thanks. I remember having read this translation of yours in Frontline or Caravaan. But I m afraid u have completely misunderstood the second sha’r. It is the killer who who wd repent all through his/ her life bcz of sense of guilt or whatsoever and would keep weeping. Thus repaying all the blood on his / her hands ( obviously, bcz each tear is worth forty blood drops). So, why should the murdered fellow weep and how come bcz he ( the lover) is already dead. Plz correct the translation. Another related sha’r , again from Ghalib is: Mahaba kya? mein zaamin, idr dekh; Shaheedan-e- nigah ka khoonbaha kya! ( Worry not, I take the responsibility, look here ( and I get killed); No blood money is paid to people killed by looks ( as the sole responsibility of not withstanding the beloved’s looks lies with the victim himself)
Ustad Sb has very soothing voice and fingers fr sitar. This rendition in jugalbandi style and with his melodious voice Ustad Sb plays sitar as jugalbandi accompaniment. Lovely post.
Yes very correct, his voice is really calm and symphonic. It's full of devotion and meditation. It really gives inner peace. Only pure hearted people do understand the value of a gazhals. Feel proud to find so many people in this category in this age.
Yes, such a beautiful voice. Every song he sings is astounding because of his wonderful voice and playing, so much emotion, and I don't even understand the language.
