    Hahaha that awkward moment when there haven't even been enough Asian NBA players to have a Top 10 list.
    Edit: learning about Wat Misaka was amazing though. Gotta love the irony that the NBA let a Japanese player in before black people even though we just got done fighting a war with Japan and interning them...

  • @mx9499967
    @mx9499967 9 лет назад +131

    actually,it is not true to what you said about wang zhi zhi. He is not a slacker, he trained himself badly, in that time, coach did not trust any Asians in the league, he had limited time to prove that he is as good and powerful under rim as Yao Ming. Also, the China basketball association(CBA)made him to leave Nba indirectly. What happen was The stupid CBA announced If Wang did not come back national team for coming national competitions, and they would never allow he to play in China again when the NBA season was still ongoing. He had no choice, he left season, and went back for national matches, then no one wanted to sign a player who has to leave half season due to personal issue. That's all I knew. All the Chinese basketball fan know CBA is a joke, even it is still ridiculous exist now.

    • @jzen7156
      @jzen7156 9 лет назад +6

      +Sean Meng You are right. Wang got offer from some American colleges when he was 19 and was playing for national team for Atlanta Olympics. But he could not go there bc he had to play for his CBA team. Then a couple of years later, he got drafted by the Mavericks. But he still could go to America bc his team does not want him leave. He waited for about another 2 years so he could go to NBA. He went to NBA at almost the end of the season. It was so hard for him to play well at that time because he didn't have enough time to practice with his teammates or understand those plays. At the end of the season, his CBA team wanted him to go back to China and play for the National Games,(this was on the agreement for letting him come to NBA) while he wanted to stay in America to train himself and play for the summer leagues. So he decided to ignore his CBA team and Chinese press. Then shit got big... He was kicked out of the national team while he still wanted to play for it. And Chinese press had to stop talking about his news and playing his game videos. So he lost his commercial value for those NBA team who wanted to sign him. That is why he was struggling to play in NBA, although he was talented and trained himself very hard. Now we could only imagine what if Wang had been to America when he was 19 , or played for the Mavericks right after he got drafted? We can only blame the stupid system or policy, and the way they were running the General Administration of sports and CBA at that time. But, I'm glad that at least, they learned the lesson from Wang's experience, so they dealt with Yao Ming in a smarter way when he got drafted by the Rockets. Moreover, Wang is the hero all the time. Like what Yao said, if there was not Yao, there still would be Wang; however, if there was not Wang, there would not be Yao.

    We had the honor of photographing Wat Misaka for our next volume of The Go For Broke Spirit in 2018. Wat was part of the 442nd, an Infantry Regiment made almost entirely of Japanese Americans. They fought in WWII while many of their families were imprisoned in war relocation camps back in the States. We're on a mission to photograph these veterans and get down their stories before it is too late. Thanks for your service Wat !

      Sim Bhullar could be added to this list because he has actually played in the NBA, but Yuki Togashi and Satnam Singh can't, because they have yet to play a NBA game. Yuki Togashi's basketball career is over and he will never play an NBA game tho and we have yet to see if Satnam makes it out of the d league. Wang Zhelin will also probably never play in the NBA, and Zhou Qi is probably gonna spend one more year in the CBA, and we will see what happens from there. So rn we can only add Sim Bhullar to this list, too bring it too a total of ten.

      ProdigyGaming They didn't include part Asians, because if they did then they would have listed Raymond Townsend. There are so many other part-Asians, including Rex Walters (Japanese mother of course).

      BoriquenBeast lol so your telling me for example being 80% black and 20% asian won't make them asian smh, these guys have lack of information about basketball, they probably went on google and searched asian NBA players and it popped up only full asian

    Pretty good list. Lin is definitely good. Knicks should have re-singed him. Rockets did not like his style of play, but he's good. I'm glad the Lakers got him.
    People don't give Yao the respect he earned. He was great, and the saddest part is that, due to injury, he never reached his true potential. His career highs were good, but they could have been top five center of all-time good. He was just that skilled.

    In an interview with Rick Quan, Rex Walters responded to the question of feeling that he was a pioneer for Asian-Americans. He responded - "I consider myself Japanese-American. I just don't look it. People are always surprised. Now we got a guy like Jeremy Lin breaking barriers, I'd like to think I played a small part in that". He later added, "People ask me who I am? What I am? I am a Japanese-American, I take great pride in that." - wikipedia
