    That’s a nice upgrade to the first Condor XL that I have, some nice extra features. I love the blackout and that’s the one thing I would like to have. Nice review 👍

      Thank you!
      I never owned the first one but I love this one! We almost bought a used first generation condor but ended up going new because of all the upgraded features.
      We upgraded from a CVT Shasta which was a soft cover tent! Definitely love not hassling with a zipper now! And yeah the black out lining is a game changer!

    Great video and great looking family you have there man. I love this thing, I'm 6"3" so when i buy one it has to be this big. Oh also just an fyi that clear pouch can also be for a tablet (your kiddo would love that) just slide it in there, connect a bluetooth speaker and you're all set. I'll subscribe to your channel and just may have to get myself a beanie as well.👊🏿

      Yeah it’s an awesome tent! Dude that’s sweet I didn’t know that. That’s a great idea for the kiddos and for some family time especially if you get stuck in some crappy rainy weather! Haha and thanks for subscribing and the support!

    What kind of roof rack is this mounted to on the Rav4? Thanks for the nice review of this Roofnest tent!

    • @ignitedbynature
      @ignitedbynature  4 месяца назад

      Thank you! I appreciate that!
      We used Yakima Skyline racks for the RoofNest tent. I do want to say that these racks snapped on us and Yakima would not cover them because we bought them used off of face book market place.
      So, if you buy some, buy them new so that it will be covered under warranty.
      We live down a dirt road that can get pretty rough throughout the year and I think they snapped because of how rough our road is. Not sure if it was Yakima or because I bought it used…but I didn’t want to mention that.

    • @fauxhemia
      @fauxhemia Месяц назад +1

      do you recommend the yakima?

    • @ignitedbynature
      @ignitedbynature  Месяц назад

      I recommend whatever has been proven to work and whatever you can get your hands on for the best price; look at the warranty too.
      We bought our racks used and they were the racks that were recommended to us by Rack Attack in Boise. We bought them used to save some money and not through rack attack.
      The racks broke the first year….but the racks we used were actually only rated for 160 pounds and we live down a rough dirt road so I imagine the daily impact and the weight of the tent made them eventually give out.
      Yakima would not cover the warranty because we bought our racks used…so just keep that in mind too.
      With that being said, we are going with Yakima again and buying them new this time and getting the model rated for 180+ pounds. Rack attack is giving us a discount for there mistake so I am going with Yakima again because that is what Rack Attack is recommending.
      Haha, so I guess we will see how the new model does on our road.
      Also, just some food for thought, I had my previous rooftop tent, my CVT tent, on rhino racks for 3 years and never had an issue.
      I hope that helps.

    I don’t know if I missed this, but how much does this tent weigh? How many people did it take to get it up there?

    • @ignitedbynature
      @ignitedbynature  6 месяцев назад

      The tent weighs 180 pounds so you will need two or three people to get it on. My wife and I had a hard time taking it off her car and I am probably going to call some of my buddies up to get help putting it on my truck. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Noticed you guys got the Condor 2 XL over the mini for the Rav4 - do you feel any drag or driving imbalance given the longer shell size? Thanks!

    • @ignitedbynature
      @ignitedbynature  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes we do have some issues with drag on really windy days, but normally we don’t have any problems with wind. The only thing I have noticed is that the tent interferes with our antenna and XM radio haha 😂. It’s more noticeable when driving in mountainous areas where the signal is weak, then it seems to cut in and out quite frequently. We took the tent off for the winter and haven’t been experiencing this issue anymore, so we have pretty much narrowed it down to that.

    For clarity, are you saying that when you pull the rainfly back, there is no way to get the bar out of the way? Does it lay against the tent or just stick out in the open obstructing your view. Thanks for the vid👍

    • @ignitedbynature
      @ignitedbynature  8 месяцев назад +1

      Correct. The rainfly just sits in its normal spot and you can’t fold it up.
      I think it would have been nice to be able to fold it up against the tent, but I’m sure there is a reason why they designed it this way.
      I think they designed it that way so that the rainfly could hold the wait of heavy rain and also keep the rain from pooling up.
      Honestly it’s our only real complaint (if you want to call it that) about this tent, it would be nice to have a way to fold it up and also lock it out so that it could remain sturdy under heavy amounts of rain.
      We have really enjoyed this tent so far though!

      On a taller vehicle (truck or wrangler), the rain fly sits higher and doesn’t get in the way as much.

    We are torn between this one and the overland 2xl. Would you make the same decision?

    • @ignitedbynature
      @ignitedbynature  2 месяца назад +1

      I had the same issue when I was trying to decide.
      I purchased mine when it first came out from Rack Attack in Boise. At the time they didn’t have any Overland Xls in stock, and the wait list was like 6 or 7 months.
      My wife and I opted for the regular Condor 2 since we didn’t want to wait that long.
      I honestly have know regrets surprisingly, but I also don’t need to throw any bikes or kayaks on mine so the overland package is not really necessary
      The overland is also 250 pounds vs 180 for the Condor 2 XL. So it’s nice having less weight when you take it off your rig.

    I need to buy one of these. How is the mattress?

    • @ignitedbynature
      @ignitedbynature  3 дня назад

      It’s a great tent. The mattress is honestly one of the cons of this tent. It’s not very thick and needs to be paired with an air mattress or extra foam pad. The Air mattress works better because you can deflate it and leave it in the tent.

    Hi does it close if you leave your pillows and blanket inside?

    • @ignitedbynature
      @ignitedbynature  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yes it does, but you have to put them in the interior duffle for it to actually close. That is the big black zippered duffle at the back of the tent that I show you in the video.
