The Elvis thing was a rumor. People tried tracking it down but it usually always lead to someone lying.

Seemed like one of those things where some people felt they had ownership over it and then got jealous when he got called that. Im sure the culture of the time played a part. Always just seemed a little silly to me. Music has been inspiration based for most of history. If anything its a compliment.

Movies require larger resources and more complex coordination of people. It's why they are so compromised right now, because of the sources they have to go to to invest in a film project. Advancements in and accessibility of tech has certainly democratized a lot of the processes, but even on a small indie scale, it's still a huge group project.

Arcane is mainly cgi with added hand drawn explosions and some effects but mostly computer generated models

the issue is not even that they are changing the characters, its that they change it with an agenda/purpose/objective behind it, despite what the common fan thinks of it, and its so transparent that people cant help but feel angry.

Finn was the character teased for new Starwars that I was most excited for. Then they made him comedy relief and I found myself asking why they threw away a character that had so much potential to be interesting.

Ironically about the Pinhead thing, the new Pinhead is actually closer to the one in the book.
In the original book Pinhead was very androgynous with a feminine voice, and the reboot seems to be going with a variation of that with the new actress playing her.
Doug Bradley will always be iconic as Pinhead, but I'm willing to give the new one a chance.
In addition, Clive Barker (the author of the book) is working on the reboot, so this isn't a case of "changing Pinhead just to change Pinhead", but rather a different interpretation from the author himself.

I grew up in the 70's and loved it. Sanford and Son, Good Times, The Jeffersons, Superman/ET, Star Wars and Six Million Dollar Man. Halloween, Friday the 13th and Superfriends. Straight Outta Compton was not accurate. Arabian Prince was written out of the movie. He was one of the original N.W.A members.

If you make a movie and market it as “based it on historical events” you have to be as historically accurate as possible as that is how you are marketing your own movie.
1:40 - They talk about representation and seeing yourself in media but I do not want to see someone like me. I'm boring. We want to be entertained and connect with things we find righteous or relatable but that is different. I connect with personalities, not gender or race. And as you say the real issue is when we already relate and love and established character and they change it into something it is not.

Pinhead was originally a woman in the books, and that's the defense some try to make. The problem is that most people know Pinhead as the dude since they only know the movies. In visual media he is long established as a he. So, let us see the storm to come. *eats popcorn*.
Also, don't get me started on how they change Mary Jane. It was possibly worse than cheese and crackers Jimmy Olsen being raceswapped into a black underwear model on the CW Supergirl show.

I think it's more a matter of people being upset with the woman king glorifying an indisputably vile society, whereas 300 it was the embellishment of the heroic defense against invaders. Sort of similar is the Cruella movie, trying to rewrite the past of the character in an attempt to make a psychotic puppy killer a sympathetic admirable self made woman.

The only ones that would be cool live action are Atlantis and Treasure Planet. Lilo and Stitch has potential but it depends on how they do Stitch and how well he interacts with Lilo.

There are youtube videos of the black people that sang with with him. They loved him and he also fought for them because he was suppose to do a show in texas and they told him he couldnt bring those back up singers that were black and he said to them if they cant come then im not coming. the thing with the little mermaid is I hope they take the approach brandy and Whitney Cinderella took. was it diverse? yes but it is one the few examples of good creative liberty of a known fairytale and people can't shake the feeling little mermaid was not made in the spirit as that Cinderella movie or the wiz

To be fair to the Hellraiser reboot it is being more faithful to the novel. In the novel you can't tell if Pinhead was male or female. Barker himself made the change in the original movie to make Pinhead male.

There's a golden rule in the IT world and Business world, "If it ain't broke don't fix it". These "modern" film makers forgot this rule and are now breaking what were perfectly good movies.

In the comic books, one of the female characters from the films, I forget which, took Pinhead's place as Lady Pinhead for a while. Sort of like a Ben Reily as Spiderman sort of thing, but I can guarantee that's not the route they're going to go. That would make too much sense for Hollywoke. There is and only will ever be one Pinhead, Mr. Doug Bradley.
Kirsty Cotton became the Hell priestess in the comics. But in the Novella a Hell Bound Heart which is what Hellraiser is based on Pinhead was androgynous.

In the book Hellraiser was based on, the Hell Bound Heart by Clive Barker, Pinhead was a woman. They change genders because at the time, all the slasher horror villains were men

When it comes to history I think liberties are useful to help the story's translation into a platform that isnt a fleshed out 10,000 page book, help the audience digest the themes and lessons. The problems begin when your "liberties" are not really liverties but straight up intended revisionist history.
