Sorry the bike issues interrupted your ride. Wow, that hotel tell looks awesome (have seen it in some of your other videos as well). Have not traveled in that part of the country much but certainly hope to someday.
It's a favorite if only because of its location, great restaurant and perfect parking accommodations. That part of the world was heavily hit by Hurricane Helene, so they could certainly do with our help and support right now.
Money is of course in the eye of the wallet-holder. I have friends with much more expensive motorcycles that think their own bikes are 'cheap'. What I can say is, what other motorcycle has active cruise control, automatic dual-end suspension lowering, shaft-drive, adjustable heated seats, heated grips, electric windshield, center-stand assist, cornering lights, cornering traction-control, cornering ABS, blindspot monitoring, semi-active electronic-suspension, machined-finished parts, forged wheels, titanium exhaust, premium paint, multi-media system, keyless ignition and filer cap, color TFT, easy access valves, excellent dealers, and envious residual values? I'll make it easy, it's precisely 'none'. That's why after 40 years the GS is still the biggest selling large capacity motorcycle in the world... by a significant margin. The new boss is the same as the old boss. IMHO I don't see that remotely changing during this decade at the very least.
You should have Traded for an RT or a 1250 GSA and catch up with your friends down the road. It will take at least 3 years for the 1300 to become Reliable then there is the subjective Looks that purists like me cannot get used to.
Well opinions vary, so I try not to tell people what they should have done. I can say that I've owned 10 BMW's. All were early bikes of the first year of manufacture, and this is the first problem with a new BMW that I've encountered. I do believe that the better redesigned supplier provided relay should solve the problem, but my dealer is also replacing my switchgear housing just for comfort as well. My friend has already covered about 25k on his R1300GS without a single hickup. BMW do stand by their products and issue proactive recalls, whereas others (KTM 790 premature cam wear for instance) don't appear to. Looks are subjective. And having owned five GS/GSA's, I can say that I clearly remember the meltdown that purists had when they moved to an asymmetric headlight cluster, but eventually they got over themselves. Now it's symmetrical again (and brighter) the same purists are up in arms again. It's like fashion, wait long enough and what's different becomes in vogue again. Having owned the 1150, 1200, and 1250s. I can say that the 1300 is a significant improvement. Every component except the TFT and scroll wheel is 100% new, so it's amazing that it's so right from the get-go. If I had to guess, I'd say your next bike will be an R1300RT... and you'll love it!
@@RichDunn Definitely a 1300 RT for me, or if the problems continue as it is, I may go back to the K 1600. I loved my 2019 K 1600B except the Transmission Recall tear down despite the fact that my bike did not have any issues. Cheers and good luck.
@@Boxer1250RT I've come so close to buying the K1600B. It's the best production motorcycle engine ever in all probability. Even smoother than a Wing I think, although Honda's DCT in that is incredibly smooth. I think the '24 onwards have the redesign so shouldn't be an issue. the reverse gear is welcome. but I wish it had the touring screen as standard, but then it wouldn't look so pretty!
@@samuroadventure1227 Yes, my friend has already covered about 25k on his without any issues. It's probably a specific batch problem with a single supplier. That said, my bike as still playing up after fitting the new starter relay - see day 3 vid!
The Starter Relay is now an official Recall - #: 24V-557 Engine Starter Relay.

$30k for a motorcycle??? Doesn't seem like a smart decision.
better than sending billions a month every month to Israel
