  • How can you write a really satisfying ending to your story?

    How do you leave it so that the audience wants more ? Do you wrap up all the plot points or is it expected that you leave one open. The hardest bit for me is do you resolve it? For example 3 billboards ebbing Missouri had a anticlimax that left you cold and shocked. Can you get away with that in your first book or play? Been scratching my head with this for the last couple of weeks.

      I liked the end of Three Billboards. I think it ended on a little note of hope that there might be some kind of justice on the horizon (albeit a vigilante kind). The important thing for me is that Mildred had come to terms with her own role in her daughter’s death. I’m doing all this from memory of course and I’ve only seen it once... And like a lot of good endings it suggests a new beginning.
