Oh Mr Tewin Tourer, despite your excellent riding and observation skills, you broke a rule at the zebra crossing when the mother and child were crossing!! You know that though eh? Great videos man, I always laugh when you call them names
To be fair overtaking that tractor on the double white lines isn’t exactly crime of the century, I’d probably do the same given the circumstances. If you have a very slow moving vehicle doing say 25mph in a 40 or 50 zone but you have a very clear view of the road ahead and you can perform a safe overtake then what is the point in staying behind just because some arbitrary white lines in the road tell you not to. It becomes common sense at a certain point, you still have a functioning (hopefully) brain that enables you to risk assess and perform a safe and relatively low speed pass. We are sticklers for the rules to our detriment in this country sometimes I believe.
It’s a bugger being perfect eh ? These are just things we expect to come across every time we leave home, exactly why you can never let your guard down.
I enjoyed this video, it was a typical hazard perception/observation ride out. This is how cautious you should ride and to anticipate the unexpected. Thanks for sharing
The ability to engage in banter and witty repartee at parties is indeed a useful skill. As a Scot however, even I know that it’s “you’re” and not “your” in their King’s English. Just saying like!
Number 9, the mad BMW car overtaking very fast and blindly in a 30mph village was the only one that scared me - a lot actually. He looks like a high energy accident waiting to happen. The other drivers seemed to display normal occurrences of everyday rather poor driving that need to be dealt with, as you did, with your defensive riding skills. One other thing...I rode an RT in London for some years and only after a year or two did I realise why I often found myself riding behind cars that were travelling slowly....The thought that I was on a police bike! In a rear view mirror the driver can see your "police bike" outline and not be aware that you have no blue and yellow stripes and no uniform. Many therefore slow down. You might want to bear that in mind when a car pulls out in front of you and then fails to make good progress. (I've been a biker for more than 40 years)
They always do that at the clock roundabout. Mind you, not sure you are squeaky clean - the little girl's foot was still on the zebra crossing when you moved forwards.
You do encounter your fair share. Thankfully you read the road and can predict most of the time. Do you find the additional mirrors give you a lot of benefit over the standard pair?
The additional mirrors are very useful especially when I have soft bags on the pannier luggage racks. The OEM mirrors are also set to their maximum outwards to cover the blind spots.
I'm a stickler for the rules as much as anyone but for gods sake man your on motorcycle with more torque than a cruise ship, just blidy untertake the red car bimbling along at 11:19 Also the cyclist at the end, is it really that much of an issue? If anything they're out your way! Didnt you learn anything from starwars? Only the sith deal in absoloutes
Overall shows why defensive riding is important. Stand out idior for me was the fast BMW ocertaking in the 30, they will arrive at their own accident, just a matter of time. Only point I would say, the mother crossing with toddler at crossing I felt you didn;t give them enough time, but that is the thing not one human ever born is perfect, we need, hopefully not too often, others to allow for our mistakes. Good riding.
They shouldn't be every day occurrences. Just an example of the abysmal standard of driving in the UK by goons who complain about high insurance costs. Driving test should be massively stricter.

Thought the same. Seems more daft to sit behind a slow moving tractor with a clear empty road ahead
Highway code says you can overtake a cyclist or slow moving tractor over double white lines provided they are doing less than 10mph (rule 129?)
@@billh6967 Fair enough. I’d assume it was doing less than 10 😅
It’s a bugger being perfect eh ? These are just things we expect to come across every time we leave home, exactly why you can never let your guard down.
Never ride overseas, you'll have a heart attack.
Ride in Malta if you dare frightening! 😢
Drive safe and all the best for 2024

Bet your a barrel of laughs at a party 🥳 🎉

They say ride like you're invisible. This Video proves why that is sound advice. Happy New year TTT keep them coming in 2024.
Hey! May I use this video in my next episode? Watermarked and linked to your channel of course.
No, you may not use this video.
Sure thing. No worries@@thetewintourer

I use the a27 in the south of England commute between Chichester and Brighton , that's defensive riding,,,,,
Goods video clips. Hope you have a good new year. 🎉

A very standard day on UK roads. Shocking, but your defensive riding kept you safe. It's why I get across to Europe as much as possible.
Aside from going over the centre of the roundabout, what do you think 15 did wrong?
Failed to give way to traffic from the right!
You should try riding in Birminghamistan. You'll get ten times that footage in one trip.

people who don't see you, live in their heads, totally wrapped-up in their own little world
ah you must be near me. hopefully i’m not going to appear on one of these.
Love motorcycles and rode them for years but the standards of the modern day driving and the state of today’s roads isn’t very inspiring to ride .
The right lane, right only, …and push on straight forward “technique” seems to be becoming more popular… Merry New Year

Still another great collection though. I would hate to be one of the bad boys driving badly for your camera to spot.
I bet if you could actually speak to these numb nuts drivers, that they would have no comprehension that they had done anything wrong 🤔.

How many miles a year do you ride?
About 12k a year.
Only no9 the overtaking BMW was a complete idiot, The rest are just every day occurrences.

No respect for motorbike riders. Sad and dangerous. Riding in UK villages looks pretty scary to me. I’d be crawling.
