I feel the same about the Tom Petty Wildflowers box. The box is beautiful and done really well, but it is such a chore to listen to .

I gotta admit, I like the uniqueness of that box set / I buy box sets for the packaging & extras along with the music, so if I just have one box set like this, I would enjoy it because it is different.

Awhile ago YAZ put out a box set that was that crappy bound book like what you are showing. I agree with you, I am not a fan. The only thing I will say about a lot of box sets I end up buying, I wait till I get them cheap- I usually wait. This was the case with the YAZ box set. I like being able to pull out the album jacket and this is stupidly attached.

If I got that box I’d definitely put them in 8 black outer covers with cut out center and nice Mofi inners.. I would keep the albums on my shelf to play and leave the box up on top of the shelf to display. Would be well worth a 10 pack of black glossy cardboard sleeves from Sleeve City! That’s just me! If they sound good why re-buy them?

It’s a cool presentation, but not practical. Won’t get much spin time for me as I’d be too lazy to pull that whole book out every time I want to listen to a record.

I don't own it but I heard The Mars Volta boxset was pretty bad. Apparently it has a piece that allows you to display a record from it but it is not all that sturdy and seems like a pain to deal with.

I have the same box set and I hardly listen to it since it’s such a pain in the ass.

I do tend to agree. I don't listen to it near as much as I would if it was a bit more accessible. But the good thing is that every album in it is a banger!! Love Rise Against.

The Joe Strummer and the Mescalero's is pretty much the same way!! I don't like it as well

I have to say it is a great box set. But I agree if you use it as "everyday" records to listen to, it is quite uncomfortable.
