- hello!!! its been a while xd. ive had this in the works for a bit but didnt know when to release it but just wanted to right now since the actual thing will probably come out a little longer than anticipated so have the song!!
i experimented a lot here, i feel like a little bit of it's original charm got lost but also improved a little ^^
the mixings weird here but better in the newer versions of the song. that and i was lazy to make a visualizer so i just made a thumbnail lmao.

Not to be a hater, but the new running transition at 1:16 feels much less impactful than the original. Firstly the original made it feel as if Alan needed to run out of true fear while here it feels more like a command. Secondly, I think the text shouldn't have a higher feeling of speed than Alan's need to get away. It feels like the text's change of pace if greater than Alan's, which takes away from Alan's few moments of characterization. I don't love this change.
Well if you play the actual game Alan only does something on his own twice, which is trying to walk in the opposite direction while we push him forward, and the fact that he continues running if we don’t press anything while he’s being chased, which makes the spin dash pretty accurate as we (the player) aren’t in a rush to watch him die and the fact that that we control him like a video game character, adding to the the fact that it’s in character for that to feel like a command

2 the reason sonic exe caught tails the second time he ran is because the first time tails ran he used a spindash but the second time tails didn’t spin making himself slower.

while I do think that v1 had a better vibe to it imo, this is still a nice update to the first version and it's still really enjoyable 👍
I'm just imagining for when You Can't Run happens, for the 16 bit section it would be replaced by an 8 bit section and X is using that unused laughing Sonic sprite
Edit: Now I'm just imagining it's progressing through different styles of Sonic games instead of regressing back to 8 bit, using the 8 bit style, then Sonic Blast or 3D Blast, Adventure, Advance, Mania, etc.
I feel like neither of these would be implimented but I legit think it would be a neat idea

As you all know, most of these songs are based off of the drowning theme from the sonic games. But did you know that 2:14 is actually based off of a part of flying battery act one of sonic mania? Great remaster! Loved the details like Alan's eyes being red from crying and the whole "Try harder" from Sonic.Exe. (Don't know which one it is) Just wondering, what's with the brick structures at 1:05 and the random bricks during the 2:10 section?
It was in the og 2023 remake of.exe which this is based off of. You can see it when you hold right to Ru ^Y-OUCANTRUN>< in hide and seek zone.

There should be a hidden ending where if you FC the song tails escapes through a big ring to the Hidden Palace Zone. Also For a YCR mix you should do Knuckles since You Can't Run is the name of the Knuckles level in the original game.
You can't win 2011X's Games, its always rigged against you. You can only delay the inevitable. Also, that's not Tails. Same as Knuckles and Eggman.

@honord.1811 I just rewatched the old one, it's kinda hilarious that you don't see all the differences. Let me name some of the few I saw: Animation for each note hit, score, time, and miss ui, sonic.exe remake background later in the video, better trip animation, head snap, text on screen saying try harder and run, instruments being moved and mixed around, and just overall looking cleaner. Can't believe you missed all that and still asked what changed 😂
late reply but the background in angel island changed and the laugh right before tails gets tripped is slightly faster i think

yoooo this shit a banger, although as a sonic fan i am condemned to yap shit about somethings🥺.
the only problem i have it's with the chase theme, in the original around the first two sections (where tails dashes through agnel islan and cave/go back the tune in the back rises but then a beat plays before turning back into the original pace it was and repeating itself, but after the second time they apear in angel island the tune keeps rising, that combined with tails' higher vocals almost makes it sound like an act of desperation, causing the chase sequence to be sound tense (another thing the adition of 2011's smile getting larger with the rising pitch of the background tune is a perfect touch to v1) as for this, it reminds me of the regular show scene where Mordecai, Benson and Rigby where jamming in benson's van
p.s: i have no idea on music beats and shit so if some part sound incoherent, blame me

I've been rewatching this, and a thought just occurred to me: When Tails is laying there, unable to run, he still has his tails. The song could possibly have an extension with him flying with the last of his strength as a vain second wind of sorts!
IIRC, how accurate X's game is always changes, hence why Alan didn't have any of Tails abilities in 2011 but did have them in PC Port (at least the remake's iteration). And even if he did, I reckon he tried them a few times, and X still ambushed him.

@@AwesomeGamer-om4hm in 2011 alan was intact able to use tails’s tails to push himself to go faster, I guess it’s a lore thing like sonic canon where tails slowly learned how to use his tails to fly instead of propelling himself forward
@@Supers_channelI think it's moreso of the nature of X's game. Tails using his tails to go faster is his running animation, and flying is his gameplay ability. In 2011, Alan seems to lack abilities aside from running, jumping, and the Spin Attack.
