- The steep curve in the progression of freestyle riding in the early 1980’s gave rise to a relentless flow of radical new inventions. With the release of the Haro Freestyler in 1982, Haro Designs had set the standard for innovation, with a concept that would energize the scene and launch Freestyle BMX into the main stream. But in the spring 1984, another breakthrough moment in the history of our incredible sport would come to pass.
In the winter of 1983, Bob Haro welcomed a fourteen-year-old, Californian skate park prodigy named Mike Dominguez to his freestyle team. Mike D had risen through the ranks of the Vans team in the early 1980’s, developing his trade along side a talented group of young riders that included Woody Itson, Martin Aparijo, Eddie Fiola and his friend Brian Blyther. During his first months at Haro, Dominguez met with company head, and designer in chief Bob Haro to discuss an exciting new concept, a concept that would help to reinvent and redefine the future of vert riding. That concept would become the Haro Sport; the very first dedicated vertical trick bike.
Within a month, Dominguez was seen blasting eight feet plus on an early prototype, known in folklore as the "Single Top tube Sport". In April of ‘84, Haro unveiled the Haro Sport as the Mike Dominguez signature model and Mike would become the first marketable athlete in the history of Freestyle BMX. The combination of Mike’s talent, and the vision and creative flair of Bob Haro had delivered a masterpiece. The Haro Sport would become a fixture in the Haro line up for many years to come, becoming the weapon of choice for the most advanced vert riders on the planet including future Haro stars Ron Wilkerson and Mat Hoffman.
In celebration of this milestone, Haro Bikes is proud to release the 1984 Haro Sport Mike Dominguez tribute bike. Built closely to the specifications that Mike rode back in the day, this bike becomes one of a series of iconic Haro models that will be released through the vintage program in the years to come.

Watching all this videos I decide to fix my 83 mongoose californian I got since 1984 and I just purchase a haro f1 just for fun,I'm 55 years old and bmx bring good memories back from the 80's when I was a teenager,awesome times..!...my collection begins...😅🤣😂

Had a chrome freestyler I picked up from an old man in a wheel chair. $25 buck😱. Gave it to my brother in law, thought he'd ride it.. Last I heard he put it out at the curb.. So pissed! 😡they didn't even ask if I wanted it back. Gotta love family. Bike was pristine.. Great video brings back so many good memories.

The first real BMX bike (unless you count a dimondback) I got was a Haro Sport way back in 1983, powder white, free style white mag rims. I remember being so proud of myself, I was self taught and could bunny hop, 360 foot jam, tail whip. They were having a BMX trick contest in a big town about a 150 miles from us and I begged my mom to take me to it ( I was 13) so i could enter. I only knew trick I had learned on my own and had no idea what I was in for. There was 62 people entered and even though I was in over my head, I still finished in the top 20 at a respectable 17th place. I was so proud it wasn't funny and seen people do tricks on a BMX that I had no clue could be done. That day still brings back some of the greatest memories of my life.
Once I turned 15 i gave my bike away to a cousin and I got a Dirtbike and started racing. To this day (I'm now 51) I regret getting rid of my Haro Sport, I LOVED that Bike.

Love it! I have the ramake Haro Mike Dominguez (Non Rider), remake Haro FST (Rider), Haro 20 Year Anniversary Ryan Nyquist (Rider), Haro Lineage (Rider). Rider = bikes I actually ride and have current geometry, Non Rider = Sits in my living room and can't believe I ever rode these bikes back in the 80's.

Had an 86 sport , exactly all same colors (not a Mike Dominguez tho) but this is the bike I want .. only prefer the peregrine mags .. but still take it … beautiful bike

Wow. Beautiful bikes. I had a kuwahara when I was young. It was white , purple Ame grips on it. I was told it was a magician but it was not. Loved the bike do much then stolo

Yep I had an original of this model as well as a couple of Masters and I must say I preferred the Sport shape and colour out of all the models even though I loved these bikes I definitely took them for granted.

My best Friend had one in the early 80's it's long gone now but he found another but he seems to think it's a FST built up very similar to you're bike.

The Redline parts killed it for me. Haro makes those same parts. It would have been better, I think to use a blue unidirectional or team disk and Haro Fusion cranks or something.
How come the forks dont have flip up pegs I had all the old school haros
I have my dads old 84 sport we restored about a year a go first mags he got for it he jumped out of a ditch and split them in half
What is the difference between the Sport, Master, Team Master of that year? I notice that the decals are obviously different, but what about the bike and options themselves? Any differences?

First thing is first, "gyro", don't belong on that bike? Next the grips, and that Dominator seat needs to go, in place a Kashimax Aero. Don't get me wrong, that is a deadly bike, I'm getting the one with Vector bars.
Back in those days, redline cranks were the best on the market. Haro didnt have there own yet. That's probably why there on here, in my opinion.
How do you guys get ahold of old vintage bikes & parts because I would like to get ahold of you guys to see if you guys can get me some of the bike parts I need to compleat my 1989 Haro team master just like I had when I was 16 , there’s no price I would not pay .
You can get lots of stuff on eBay now days and loads of other shops do old school stuff aswell,I'm in uk and I get stuff off Alans Bmx they do lots of cool repo stuff and they ship check them out 👍🏻
