    As others have said, it would have atleast been nice of them to announce there would be no 12 days this year, as it's a recurring yearly event. To wake up Xmas morning, not see it, and them essentially ignoring anyone asking about it on their social media's was a bit annoying lol

    • @BatmanStatueCollector

      Yeah a simple "hey guys sorry it's not happening this year" would have gone a long way.

    Sideshow is struggling. No doubt about it. High stock, massive sales, better competition, high shipping, etc. They need to release their sculptors to other statue companies. Also, where is the communication?

    • @Titan7170
      @Titan7170 Год назад

      We pay for shipping.... If they losing money its their fault who told them to release edition sizes 3-4-5-6000 pieces of one statue... They should not have tried to compete with the secondary market!

    It would be ashame if Sideshow significantly slowed down their statue production, as I love their statues and their price points. For the quality combined with the size you get, it's hard to beat them. I don't really want to shell out the $1200/1300/1400s for Prime 1 or XM type pieces. Sideshow is the perfect middle ground for me, where the quality is there but the price point is manageable.
    I don't see any other companies doing what Sideshow can do quality wise at that price point of around $600. If I have to switch to other more expensive companies, I'll basically have to get half as many statues, and I would prefer to be able to spread my money around a bit for more characters rather than committing so much money to one piece.

    SS just should give the DC-Licence for 1/4-Scale to Tweeterhead. SS doesn't do anything with that anyway. Just watch, what Tweeterhead did with their incredible 1/5-Scale Masters of the Universe Line - that is probably the best Line, when it comes to that Scale. Tweeterhead would also nail the 1/4-Scale DC Line for sure and would bring us finally a larger Group of different Characters.

    You hit the nail in the head Chris.... Sideshow is not the top dog anymore and that is one of the reasons they are doing distribution for other companies. And those other companies do their own reveals and announcements so Sideshow ended up not doing as much, thus the reason I believe 12 Days was canceled. But that's okay.... I think they are doing fine and I think they will have some original pieces coming soon.... I'd like to see more Court of the Dead stuff....

  • @AlexApproBAT
    @AlexApproBAT Год назад +2

    The lack of communication from SSC is the largest disappointment of this situation. It wouldn't take much to acknowledge the event's cancellation and providing a reason, however brief or in-depth. / I expected to see PCS's Gamerverse Blade during this event. Ant said that he'll go up for PO in Jan, so I'll at least have that reveal to look forward to.

  • @jimgalla540

    Hulk. Raising prices by selling 1/4 scales statues at 1/3 scale pricing is not the way to go when sales are going down. Burst that statue pricing bubble and more people will start to buy. Changes in personnel is not an excuse for poor performance or lack of communication.

  • @dickfacealvaro
    @dickfacealvaro Год назад +3

    There is way more companies doing statues now BUT sideshow has a particular price point that appeals to a lot of collectors that can't afford the other companies, more expensive statues so I think they will survive.

    @rmartin2819 Год назад +1

    Love your optimism for statue collecting!! I am looking forward to see what the next reveals will be, but sucks Sideshow didn’t communicate anything and just dropped what had been an anticipated event. Might be the end for Spooktacular also. I’m looking forward to some Tweeterhead reveals but maybe slowing down will be good since overhyped and promised items were not good for collectors either.

  • @frankleone7685

    I think it’s a mixed of things. Hot toys likely didn’t sell well (with Star Wars being a big bust this year) and just overall too much stock. They have stuff from years past still they can’t get rid of, when before it would sell out quick.

  • @charlesanthony1532
    @charlesanthony1532 Год назад +1

    I think the issue is Sideshow has made some mistakes in remaking the same characters multiple times and combined with the rising the edition sizes on top of the competition (XM,QS,PRIME 1,JDN , DARKSIDE,TWEETERHEAD) and the increase in retail prices and shipping costs . I have been collecting sideshow since they started and never remember then having so many sales and that was the telltale sign that they were hurting .

    • @jn6305
      @jn6305 Год назад +1

      The large edition sizes and sticking to popular characters are two of the reasons why their prices are barely more than half of what their competition is charging

    • @charlesanthony1532
      @charlesanthony1532 Год назад

      @@jn6305 I agree sideshow got greedy by making the same characters over and over . On top of that they raised their edition sizes . For example look at spider-man how many venoms and Carnages and spider-man do we need ? I had to buy XM Studios Spiderman Villains to get the characters I wanted .

  • @dickfacealvaro
    @dickfacealvaro Год назад +2

    I don't think Prime1 is doing 1/4 scale because people aren't spending because with lifesize busts, jnd and crazy stuff like the hulkbuster, things are getting more expensive yet everyone else keeps making more. I think it's more that doing it 1/4 opens up a new base of customers.

  • @ma9ical1
    @ma9ical1 Год назад +1

    Given the over-saturation of the market and the poor outlook of the economy, it is actually a relief for the industry if one of the big players is reducing its offering, focusing on distribution. I can predict already that many Prime 1 prototypes, in particular in 1/3 scale, will no longer be produced. You can already see their move to 1/4 although their prices are still ridiculous. It will be a tough 2023 for the statue community

    SS's stock is so high right now. The New Dr Doom PF exclusive hasn't even come close to selling out yet. In the past, that would have sold out in 5 days with an ES of 750. They have too many statues in the warehouse. Statue I thought would have been long gone by now.

  • @Dyon_Cole_QuietStorm

    Sideshow has shot themselves in their own foot. Extremely high ES counts devaluing pieces out the gate. Horrible QC issues, likely because they have such high ESs. Paint issues. Statue delays. Pieces even on sale not selling. Sideshow is the Walmart of statue collecting unfortunately. Prime 1 and XM have quality that is light years ahead of sideshow. Pricier? Yes but QUALITY WINS THE DAY

    Yeah weird times. Myself I would only have budget to buy Sideshow and for the whole year I’ve only been interested in the one new 1/4 Suicide Squad Harley Quinn. They made a serious mistake ordering too many things to be brought into their warehouse that now they have so much stuff that they're trying to get rid of creating special events and special sales just so they can remove some of their figures and accessories I mean for example that Sideshow holiday special wasn't really anything new it was a combination of Cyber Monday and daily deals nothing new about it and with new stuff coming out with Marvel and Star Wars it's going to get worse for them but I feel they might get a little bit of a break considering that Chinese New Year has been moved early so that would give them time to have a few reveals but it's unfortunate that they couldn't tell anybody that they were canceling instead they put a double your rewards when you purchase an item and a free shipping and keep their daily deals

    Sideshow is the company that got me into collecting and I love many of their pieces. That said the competition is stiff and I have gravitated towards the competitors in the past few years. If sideshow wants to strictly distribute they should give up or share the licenses with companies like XM so that they can sell in the states or create statues in specific scales. Between them not showing up at NYCC and 12 Days I’m disappointed with them.

  • @bluscorpion

    They probably didn't have anyone to put it together, they just had two major employees leave, which makes me think others may have left also. And now I'm learning from you that Martin Canale left. 😲 I don't think it's the economy, because I've seen new art pieces sellout within months of relief. Sideshow may be more affected by competition: XM has been putting out piece after piece in their Marvel line, and Prime one puts out quality work. Also: Sideshow has been releasing new stuff all year, so I wouldn't read too much into it. There's been a lot of complaints on the group page that the release dates get pushed back, so they probably want to wait. I'm still fairly new to Sideshow, and wasn't too impressed with what they put together last year. So I'm hoping they're putting together something more exciting.
