Not sure if you have researched it all, but there's a lot of hidden power in that motor. Look up Sportsman 500 intake fix, or just take your seat off and look at the Polaris intake setup. It's super restricted. Same with the stock exhaust, very restricting setup. with opening up the air box, rejetting and a slip on exhaust guys are finding big gains on these things. Such a great quad.
Thanks for getting back to me about the ebs clacking noise. When going down a steep hill and using either brake it clicks and clacks. 2013 Polaris 500 ho with EBS. Putting up a short video of the one and only time i got stuck. RIDE,RINSE,REPEAT!
sorry for the late reply but i love it!! its fast and powerfull, I havent been able to get it stuck in mud yet. ive used it to pull out small trees and vines. me an my buddys made our own path in a untouched forest and i was in 2wd just hopping over fallen trees and logs. so far i have had zero cons at all. i can keep up with my friends that have the racer quads but i can also take the lead and make new paths and clear debris. its a very good ride man you will be happy with the purchase!
Yes the camo has held up very nice! the old polariss had the problem of the camo fading to a nasty camo but they fixed it from what i have seen and been told by the mechanic bc i asked him the same thing. Mines does not have the power steering but I have no regrets on it i honestly dont notice the difference other then going on rocks lol that quad handles real well!
yes i know lol It only got up to 57 bc #1 i backed off to make it in my drive way and #2 i was going up hill #3 im a heavy guy haha but yes i have got it up to 65 with no problem. Its a great machine!
i got the same one, camo and all. ive been researching the "polaris noise", cant find much. i thought i would ask you if yours makes any of the clacking noise going down hill or when stopping a little fast? shop says normal. Ride rinse repeat!
ehh too me it seemed pointless to pay more for a model just for power steering, i havent had trouble with it at all but im all upper body strength so i never noticed any trouble after i got use to it, my arms were sore the first day haha but other then that im just fine with out power steering, now if i was climbing up ruff terrain like big logs and rocks and stuff the power steering would be nice!
pshhh what kind of question is that lol I wasent going to baby it for 20 hours. I'm just now hitting 18 hours now and its been months, wasent going to do that. i babied it for a lil bit but then i put it thrue its passes. and is still working like a new machine and getting the job done lol
Nice video. They are pretty fast really. I have a green 2013 model and a 2008 EFI model. I have a video of both in mud and water if you want to check it out on my page. It's called 2013 polaris sportsman 500 vs 2008 500 efi.

I’m getting to used to my 400ho thinking of upgrading to a 500, this spring. 👍
Did you drive it fast when you first got it? Or did you follow the 20 hour break in time?
Nope! love it! ive been on the dunes, mud pit, gravel pit, state trails. hasnt disappointed me at all!
POLARIS SPORTSMEAN IS MY LIFE
yes i know lol It only got up to 57 bc #1 i backed off to make it in my drive way and #2 i was going up hill #3 im a heavy guy haha but yes i have got it up to 65 with no problem. Its a great machine!

It's probably just the auto breaking system my 03 has the same thing unless you put a little bit of gas which then it will roll pretty fast
The noise is on a lot of quads. This noise usually occurs when braking quickly. It's just the braking system, nothing to worry about.
click, clacking Noise is normal on most polaris. they said is normal operation those clutches. All do it so guess is normal ;)

I bought two. One red and one white. And I love them, bought at Nelsons also.

Get a Big Gun exhaust for it if you're looking for more speed and a better sound.
