This matches so well the feelings I have right now, reading there will be no more after season 8. Where is the time I watched the show the first time, out of niccesity because my mum was watching it. Ever since, I am totally in love with it! There is so not enough stuff around about George Gently at all; I hope that will change.
This is just wonderful, you couldn't have chosen a better song .I love this series nice to have a video from it,you have selected some lovely tender scenes. I wonder why it takes so long for the dvd's to come out,all the other series are on sale while they are being shown on tv. still no sign of series 5,cant wait to see what happens after the cathedral scene shootout if they decide to make another series.Thank you so much for sharing this, wonderful tribute to Martin on his birthday.
Oh, the makers of the episode have chosen for me (as I said in the description of the vid), but I have always loved this song. As for Series 5 DVDs - a kind member of Martins Place informed us yesterday that Acorn is making Gently 5th season, Region 2, available now instead of September. Just google "acornmediauk".
This is not a modern song in the sense you mean. it was sung in the 60s by Judy Collins, although I'm not sure she wrote it. I learned it from her "Clouds" album. You must be quite young, Don, to think this version is "imitating" the late 60s. Judy Collins sang it much more as a straight folk ballad, with more melody and less chord modulation. Absolutely haunting in its ORIGINAL 60s version.
I have to clear a misunderstanding here. As Vinnie explained in another comment and I wrote in the description of the vid, when this episode was aired in Holland they replaced "It's a wonderful world" with some other song. And this is the song that Vinnie Gijsbers asked about - as I found out it's "Losing You" by Terry Devine-King. This is the modern song that Don refers to and NOT Who Knows Where the Time Goes which indeed was sung by Judy Collins and actually is at the end of the episode.
Wow, it seems it's a modern song made to (successfully) imitate the late 60s soul style, who would have known! It has a similar rhythm and tune to a a song from The Temptations called "I've passed this was before."
Hi I researched a bit and here's the answer I came up with - "Losing you" by Terry Devine-King. I found a link where you can listen to it, but cannot put it in a comment, so please check the descriprion of this vid for it.
Hahaha don't matter. That's a shame to hear. Here in Holland it plays without any concernes. I will record the beginning of the episode and than I upload it on RUclips. You'll get the link from me!
Most probably It's a Wonderful World isn't licensed for your country too. If you have the episode recorded you could try to find it on Shazam. I'm sorry, I can't think of anything else. I found out what the Dutch replacement song was in a Dutch forum about TV programmes.
Thanks for your research greenheartvids. When this episode was aires in my country Argentina, they replaced this song, for another uncredited. I am looking for that song and singer since last year. Why do they do this? Copyright issues? Perhaps you can tell me who can i write to, to find out . It was a female singer and the song talked about leaves falling and a girl leaving alone and slowly. Thanks again!
On the original episode of 'The Lost Child' there is a song playing at the beginning of the episode. It plays for about 2 minutes. What's the name and artist of that song???? Sounds a bit like The Four Tops or something in that genre. Please help me!!
This is not what I am looking for i'm afraid. That song is btw by Louis Armstrong. I'm from Holland, maybe they put another song in the intro because of the songrights here. This is the link to the site, maybe you could recognize it uitzendinggemist. nl /afleveringen/ 1323944 (put it together)
I have been searching for a list of the music from this episode and can't seem to find one online at all. I am desperate to know what the song is called that plays just before they come across the adopted baby's mother on the beach. It's instrumental only and so there are no lyrics that I can use to search with, as I normally do to find out song titles. It's played from just after they leave the house she shares with her friend that worked at the baby home, until just after they find the real mother for the first time at the beach. If anyone can put me out of my misery I would be soooooooooo grateful. :)
Thank you so very much for your reply. Unfortunately it must have had different music when released to different countries as this is not the same piece. I notice below in other questions about music from this episode that this appears to have been the case. I'm in Australia and the episode version I saw had a different price playing. But thank you for your effort. It was very kind of you to supply a link as well. :)
But, of course, it's Louis Armstrong, silly me... This is what happens when I work and reply to comments at the same time. Sorry, but the video of your link won't play, it needs Microsoft Silverlight downloaded.
I am in Australia and want to find the name of the song the two women sing at the end of this episode. It's hauntingly beautiful, but all I can pick up is something about finding a boatman. Can anyone help please? x♥ ♪ ♪
