They made a remaster in the form of "Initial D: Legends", but it's only first season and it consists of three movies one hour each. Some races were cut off and overall storyline feels rushed, but animation is really good. Right now you can watch "MF Ghost", which is a sequel to "Initial D", but I don't like it, yet many people seems enjoy it. My main problem with the new anime that races are held on wide high speed roads. It doesn't make sense to use drift on them and Toyota GT86 has zero chances against modern supercars in those conditions.
@@ReasonX3MF ghost just feels too goofy for me personally, specifically the fact that somhow a gt86 can casually keep up with the likes of a 488, r8 or huracan.
@@somerandomdude2085from casual observation it does seem goofy but the in universe explanation is mostly down to the tires. The tires are provided for the race and the grip to weight ratio makes it so that a lot of the powerful cars there are probably running tires much thinner than they would come from the factory. Also the tires would be more prone to longitudinal wear and more resistant to lateral wear, meaning tires would wear out more due to acceleration and braking rather than cornering, which high horsepower cars would suffer the most as they would likely put down too much power, and the race tends to favor more balanced setups closer to the cayman and a110. I did see someone say that tire characteristics like that don’t make sense, but I mean F1 has tires that specifically wear out more quickly to give a reason for pit stops, and considering mf ghost takes place in a setting that has advanced further than reality, I’ll let it slide.
One thing we need to accept is that the problem was really the car and not the driver, you still need a car that has some power and a good handling to race, the 86 is a fantastic car but she has a limit too, theory is proved when takumi tried the impreza that was 10 times better
