That’s because you’re at 6300 ft in elevation at mountain resort. Salt Lake City Valley ranges from 4400-7100 ft. When you met up with Stradman, he’s around 4500. You do get drunk quicker at higher elevations if you’re not used to it. For me, it took a couple days to get used to the elevation. The biggest thing is to drink WATER. Trust me, it helps.
As per the wildfire smoke, Cali, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Montana, and Idaho all have enduring really bad wildfires this summer and fall. :(

Cops don't need a radar reading if "based on their experience you were observed well over the speed limit." The ticket will say "vehicle was observed at well over XXX mph." They they can decide whether to give you a speeding ticket, failure to follow observed sings, or reckless driving ticket. It's, of course, much better to just be nice to the cop and he will hopefully write you a ticket for failure to observe traffic signs, which is rather inexpensive and low of points when compared to the alternatives.
