Actually made one in school decades ago. Not sure how I made it exactly, but it's coming back to me now!
Love the pun
Would definitely like to see you make another one out of 1/4" plywood
As everyone is saying, a brilliant project, made more enjoyable by that lovely but simple carving kit! Have you coated those wooden knife handles with Linseed yet? Maybe along the same lines as the boomerang, possibly a catapult that fires wooden "ammunition" at a flat "target" - a game of skill? Yes a great boomerang project - many thanks for doing that one!
Brings back memories of making and throwing boomerang when I was a child. Woodworking that I had forgotten about. I agree about the plywood. Any other lumber will just break. Good idea about using a piece of a tree which is already bent. Have never tried that.
thanks. that is the way the traditional ones were made, but now plywood is just faster. LOL
Good timing, I just recently thought I'd might buy a starter set myself.
Hi, i really like your videos, but what really interest me, is that you make beautiful things with basic tools. Like the one time you made a box with only a chisel.
That really excites me.
nice video
Greets Danny from the Netherlands
thanks Danny. i try to do those builds from time to time!

Tnx my friend, cant wait
I love little projects like this to share with my grandkids.
I never could work one of those, when I was a kid I tried 'till I was blue in the face. Nice little project video Bud👍
I dig it! Make a frisbee next?
A great little project. It is all coming back to me now!
I'd love to see you make another boomerang. When I make bullroarers for buddies of mine, I use a Stanley trim plane and my chip carving knife. Those work bonzer for the task and are really economically feasible, especially for my limited budget.
That's nice! You should make one out of home made plywood.
I am thinking the same thing!
Awesome stuff James! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Hey James, I would love to see you whittle out something like a bird or some other interesting figure and explain the process. Always wanted to learn to do this while camping and sitting by the fire. Hey and the shavings can be the kindling.
I ahve wanted to do that. the problem is fitting it in the shooting schedule, but it is on the list.
@@WoodByWrightHowTo Thank you
The trick isn't to be able to catch it, the trick is to actually be able to hit something on the return, preferably at the base of the skull.
Make a boomerang video again
Throw it into the wind about 20 feet high.
Nice project, how longe did it actually take to carve it?
it was about 45 minutes of work from board to Finnish.
@@WoodByWrightHowTo that was fast, I was sure that it was several hours.
@@kennethnielsen3864 cedar is a fairly easy wood to work with.
James, I would like to see a better boomerang, it doesn't feel right that you made it to be inferior.
one is coming. this was the prototype.
And let us watch the whole process! lol
that would be a fun live!
I got a very similar carving set for Christmas. It's made in Ukraine and they are super sharp. It came with some bandaids too. So far I haven't needed those, but I had a good laugh when I found them. My dad bought it from Townsends.us
Just checked the amazon link, and it sounds like you got a Chinese knockoff of the Ukrainian set, which is a fair bit more expensive. Eastern Europe has been making some top-notch stuff lately.
First.
WOOT WOOT!! nice work!
If you ever stop with the puns, dad jokes, etc., I'm unsubscribing! :)
LOL I think I would be dead if they stopped!
not a boomerang so wrong
