@@JQ127-c4e Regarding the Lynne/Bevan situation, this is what I can gather based on the fragments of data available online: - Lynne and Bevan's relationship grows increasingly fractious during the early '80s as Lynne increasingly integrates drum machines and samplers into his production methodology to compete with contemporary new wave and synthpop, gradually freezing Bevan out of the group. Bevan likewise seems to have viewed Lynne's increasing emphasis on elaborate studio production over touring (in which he, as the erstwhile loudest drummer in the Brumbeat scene, would have been most visible to the public) as a further admission that ELO was evolving into a Lynne solo act at the expense of its remaining personnel. Lynne, meanwhile, probably resented that Bevan, as a co-founding member, was receiving a considerably higher fee than his creative contributions would suggest (given that Lynne adamantly viewed ELO as "his band" and comprised the bulk of its creative force, frequently pulling all-nighters on studio production with Richard Tandy's assistance while Bevan largely played pool or drifted around local bars). - Following the tense production sessions for "Secret Messages", Lynne places ELO on temporary hiatus to advance his producer career. Bevan departs to join Black Sabbath. - Bevan and Lynne regroup for "Balance of Power (with both legally required to appear on the album as co-owners of the band's name). Lynne provides the majority of instrumentation, reducing Bevan's role even further. After the completion of "Balance" and its brief followup tour, Lynne places ELO on indefinite hiatus, meaning that he technically never quit the original group, and declares his disinterest in reforming the band. Through these events, Bevan remains connected to ELO's longtime manager Don Arden (presumably as a means of remaining in Black Sabbath's vicinity as backup) - as Arden had scammed Lynne out of $4 million USD a decade earlier, I suspect this further eroded Lynne and Bevan's relationship. - Circa 1988, Bevan (having reached an impasse after quitting Black Sabbath a second time over their decision to play in South Africa during the apartheid era) approaches Lynne with an offer to reform ELO and embark on a world tour. Lynne rejects this immediately (as Bevan knew he would, according to a 1995 interview), yet Bevan opts to move ahead with the reunion. Lynne subsequently pursues legal action against Bevan, in which he eventually consents to disbanding ELO and enabling Bevan to form ELO Part II under a set of agreements. While unconfirmed, these regulations allegedly concerned the share of royalties Lynne would receive from the group, the configuration of Part II's live setlist (over 70% of the setlist had to be Lynne-penned songs, with Part II barred from performing some tracks altogether) and the stipulation that former ELO bassist Kelly Groucutt would not be involved on any level (due to the settlement terms of the infamous 1983 lawsuit between him and Lynne). Bevan ostensibly vows to uphold these terms. - Bevan proceeds to violate virtually every term of the contract (most notably through rehiring Groucutt as a frontman). Initially neglecting Part II altogether, Lynne becomes increasingly frustrated at both these breached terms and the number of ELO personnel (Bevan, Groucutt, Mik Kaminski, Louis Clark and Hugh McDowell at various points in the group's lifespan) willing to reunite without him, which I suspect he viewed as a betrayal. Lynne also repeatedly sues the group over a frequent promoters' mishap advertising the group as the original ELO (see his case against Phil Bates' Electric Light Band decades later). Given that Part II's fortunes steadily declined after 1991, this presumably placed a further dent in its revenue, awakening Bevan to Lynne's views on the band's existence. The final bridges between the two are therefore mostly burnt. - As Part II plays successively smaller gigs, Bevan opts to retire upon hitting the age of 50 in 1999 and, responding to legal action from Lynne over the violated contract terms, decides to sell his share of the ELO name to the latter, immediately ending Part II and marking its transition to "The Orchestra". Bevan and Lynne have scarcely communicated since, although Bevan has suggested willingness to mend the tension more recently.

@@bulatlarina show off 😁👍
Yes music was like this forever then we wouldn't be able to go back and listen to this be great music
I listen to ELO every day and this song is my morning song as I get ready for work. Love love love❤️
Valerie……. Did you danced this song when you were little darling 45 years ago or just you missed?
Those times when the music was driving you to do crazy things and everyone was playing to Hunter/ Pray games.
Beautiful times that never comeback
Really sad
I wish that everything was gold, i wish you were here to hold..
Pure genius!
As Paul McCartney once said "ELO picked off where we The Beetles left at I am the Walrus".
Albums such as A new world Record, Out of the Blue and Discovery really prove this statement. That's why, ELO, The Beatles and Queen are my three favorite bands.
(Edited* quote is actually from Roy Wood who worked on Band on the run with Paul)
Manx Marvel I love these 3 bands as well! And I would also throw In the Moody Blues and Pink Floyd.
@@mihalidellaportas892 I see you are a person of good tastes. Although I don't listen to the Moody Blues often I think they deserve as much praise as they get if not more for how innovative they are.
Beatles!
When you spell the Beatles..Beetles..your NOT credible!!!!
@@newspapertaxis1 Touche. I was also 15. I still like ELO and Queen but much prefer David Bowie, The Velvet Underground and the Kinks over the Beatles (Beetles).
The string arrangements in this are so good
This is Popmusic from Heaven! Jeff Lynne and Brian Wilson is the Popmasters int he world !!!
Always makes me sad this song. But it's hauntingly beautiful.
Songs that evoke the emotion sadness and melancholy are the deepest and best. Jeff has written quite a few songs that belong to that category. Already listened to Help Yourself from the 2019 album From Out Of Nowhere?
My favourite ELO Album..The Great DISCOVERY.....roll on 2021xx
Yeah it was definitely their best. I still have it on vinyl and still play it today 41 years later!! Great memories but I don't know where the time's went.
God I just love ELO.Jeff Lynne is just THE BEST.
I love this song so much...so much!
gorgeous
ELO at it's very best. My favourite band for 31 years and i am a long-time fan of the instrumental band. 1986 was such a delightful year. Shame about two members that have passed away. Electric Light Orchestra will remain in my heart forever.
What a beautiful freaking song omg 10/10
This song is 4:14 in length, again I'm seeing 4s all over the place! :) Jeff, you are just magical...period.
I'm wishing ❤❤❤
Little darlin' don't you cry,
You know I'll try to be there with you by and by.
When everything is going wrong now don't you cry.
I'm wishin'.
Little darlin', far away,
I see the world go rollin' by my window pane,
But I can only wish that I was there again.
I'm wishin',
I wish that everything was gold.
I wish you were here to hold,
I'm wishin',
Little darlin', the night is long,
I thought I'd be back now
I must have got it wrong.
You and California call me in this song.
I'm wishin',
I wish that everything was gold.
I wish you were here to hold,
I'm wishin'.
Little darlin' I see you,
You're cryin' in the sun
I gotta be with you.
I'll make it all come true.
I'm wishin',
Little darlin', I'm wishin'.
You know, I'm wishin',
I'm always, wishin'.
I wish that everything was gold.
I wish you were here to hold,
I'm wishin'..
Everything gold,
Wishin'.
Hold love on to love-
Hold love on to love.
Beautiful song 🎵 cheers & and wishes to people that need hope on their wishes ✨️ 🙏 ✨️

The intro sounds like something I remember being out of Mario Galaxy, can't put my finger on exactly what track(s) though.
My kids ages 36-20 love them!!! Wonder where they got that? Husband saw them in 78-79 in Vegas I saw them 3 times 3, nights in a row at Hollywood Bowl and at United Center In Chicago in 2018
I can imagine that these sounds come from heaven every time I listen ELO music
I've been an ELO fan for years and just now stumbled upon this song. I got to experience it for the first time with my year old daughter. Thanks Jeff and Rich.
Hauntingly Beautiful.
One of the most cherished vinyls in my collection!
You Rule Rogalio.
Its up there with Chicago Transit Authority and The Wall for me
Uno de los mejores temas de fines de los 70' . El disco Discovery es una obra de arte !
A truly great album....... and this is one of my favourites
elo songs are so perfect and i aint even mad!
Great song 👌🏻
Reminds me of my childhood when I found an audiotape from my parents' stuff ... As soon as I listened to it, I was captivated by these melodies ... 40 years later, I was able to recollect the name of the band and find it on internet ... So happy! Lovely impressions are timeless. Thanks for sharing!
I'm wishing I was back in an era when music meant something ,, like Elo songs..there's meaning in them,, ..longing...unfulfillable longing....sweet.
TEMAZO !!!!
One of many great tunes by ELO, brings back so many memories of when I was 17 😜
Gd that bass. I swear the base goes hard every fking song. Prove me wrong.
The Best!!!! I don't think we will hear this type of talent anymore!
Este tema tiene una base de swing , muy al estilo de las grandes bandas norteamericanas de los años 40 s. Grande Jeff Lynne.
Esto es musica
Music of EPIC PROPORTIONS!
Love the piano solo. Great song from a great album by the band of the 70s
unreal song ............elo story of my life ........
July 2023, still enjoying ELO!! Amazing band!!!
When I was young evry song on every Skynyrd album was fantastic. Just like the Beatles. But Jeff Lynne and the band exceed theam all by bounds. Even now, 50 years later I still find hidden gems in the ELO archives. That makes my ears smile.
Will forever be a fan of ELO and Jeff Lynne and have loved ELO since 1975. My ears heard the bliss of ELO and that was it for me...forever. Amen. Jeff, hey from a super fan in FL. Stay safe. Bless U.
Underrated one on Discovery.
Jeff Lynne really proved himself in this group. He grew up in this band. All the men who passed through this group though over the years are very good musos too. We are the winners to have such a top band to appreciate as well. ELO are one of the best. We all know that surely.
A New World, Record, Time and this album, Discovery are my favourite three albums. Period.
ELO with Jeff Lynne are fantastic :-))... Who needs modern shite music when you have ELO?
This song is so awesome........thank God we have ELO and so very many greats to listen to. Thanks to all artists for being gracious to let is hear this music on You Tube. If we can go to concerts one day again......I'm goin to see everybody! I'm goin! 🌹❤🌹
Best song ever 💚💙💜!
One of their best songs. genius song writing
discovery album is my second best album ever, don't get me wrong is it a master piece, thank you Jeff Lynne for sharing your beautiful music.

I love ELO ❤️ Amazing time !!!
This album blew my mind when it came out, nothing comes close from the era. Expertly crafted audio from start to finish.
The piano bit with the slightly off key (?) notes is a gem.
ELO Discovery where there's not a bad song on the whole Album!
reminds me of my boyfriend. he lives in california, 8 hours away from where i live. i love him with all my heart but sometimes i just wish he was here to hold
Fav song on album maybe! So good!!!!!!
Another beautiful dream come to life
