Nice to see a more balanced take on Rodgers Jim.
The various pundit takes on Rodgers have been almost negligent and shows they havent watched LCFC for a full 90 minutes in a long time. I think everyone likes BR as a person and there's the sense of 'where do Leicester expect to be' but it's far more serious than that, previous achievements and investment aside.
Look at the stats from the past 18 months and you see Rodgers has consistently worsened the side (even when investment was available) to the point where they're significantly worse than the side in 8th that he interested from Puel. Fans are always a good indicator and LCFC fans have been appalled by the level of the team for 18 months now, any replacement will be an upgrade at least in the short term.

What Toney is doing is unheard of. It's his 2nd season with a team who have the 2nd lowest budget and the lowest wage bill in the league yet he's comfortably the 3rd top scorer in the league. That's more impressive than what kanes doing this season. He's played 3 fewer games than Kane too.

@@alexmiddleton2276 not really comparable in a team which had players like Mahrez, Kante and Okazaki around him and had a total spend just in that season of £50m and a total incoming of 10 new players to the first team compared to brentfords summer spend of £30m and just 2 incomings with only 1 of them getting more than 90 premier League minutes. Adjusted for inflation Leicester spent upwards of £85m. Brentford haven't spent that in both premier League season combined in arguably the most stacked period in the leagues history.

Crazy to think that Chelsea have picked up the same amount of points as Nottingham Forest in 2023. That for me is a sackable offence for Graham Potter.

I don't think Potter anticipated what would happen when going to Chelsea and not hitting the ground running, having been a supporter of a club managed by Potter you could see just how badly the Chelsea job has been weighing on him and how he has been trying everything (Cucurella and James as CB) just to try and make it work.
I actually think Leicester would be a good fit for him, but perhaps it is just a little too soon.

I know it might not seem like a big difference, but pronunciation-wise there is actually a big difference, at least when speaking danish🙂 There is also a danish player in Barcelona called Christensen (ex Chelsea player), which is pronunced the same way as the Leeds player, but just spelled differently.

      What an overreaction lol
Only thing that's changed between last season and this one is that he's getting less protection from the midfield because the press is being bypassed too easily. He's always had these weaknesses but his strengths going forward make it a no brainer for him to start. Sign Rice or Bellingham and he'll be back to his best

@Daniel Smart I don't think it's an overreaction to say hes been awful this whole season but at the same time I agree with the other comment that's it's less a problem and more a symptom of our problems . Hes never been good defensively hes basically a winger/midfielder playing in his position. While he's not gotten the assists he still leads our team for passes and third in the league with passes into box behind de bruyne and odegard . It's easy for people to start saying get rid of him but he's still so important to our buildup and attack and without him we'd either need to find someone with his quality (very unrealistic) or completely change the system. When our midfield did work we touted him as the best rb in the world I think we need to fix midfield first before making a big decision on trent

People can’t keep blaming Liverpool’s midfield for how atrocious Trent has been. He’s been as poor as the ageing midfield.

It may seem illogical for cucurella to start there when badiashile is on the bench, but tactically it makes sense, especially when you see what potter wanted to do.
I think potter wanted to have centre-backs good on the ball to push into half spaces and able to provide crosses into the box from the half space above the box. This would provide a needed overload on the wings where it seemed that villa were defending a 3v3 situation in the channels without said center-backs. I dont think badiashile is potent enough going forward to provide those crosses that potter wanted for this match. Hence, the decision to not play him. Besides, cucurella has shown to have played this role in previous matches, whether at dortmund, leeds, or Leicester. So, choosing him over badiashile is one of those that choosing him seemed logical, but hindsight is 2020.
The main problem with this tactic is that neither mudryck nor felix are potent in the air enough to contest those whipped-crosses into the box, only havertz. Of course, chelsea need a 9, but auba is frozen out (with 10% aerial duel success rate) datro fofana is getting time with the academy, and broja injured so not many options at the front to choose from.

    • @euanmabrown97
      @euanmabrown97 Год назад +1

They don't have the aerial personnel for this kind of tactics, classic example of Potter trying to be too clever. Instead of coming up with 16 different tactics a season, he should just create one that actually plays to his squad's strengths.

So happy Grealish got his goal and assist as that’s all people use to measure players on now, every time he got the ball he occupied 3 players. I’d take a guess he probably gets a lot of second assists and everything he does is what Pep asks, like the lack of shooting and going for a cut back when the shots on. He’s been unbelievable since the WC.

When do you think Brighton will be able to stop selling players and retain them to push to the top. I am pretty sure their training facilities are new/top; also can they and the Stadium be increased? Also, with London being a 30min straight through away; even having Drivers for the players and their partners to enjoy London life; but have a massive home that looks at the sea, can they flip the script; having people look out of the land rather than in and build a truly big club? Do they need to be making bigger noises in other countries to get the word out, what size crowd/stadium the need?
