Just flew my protos 380 on brain2 the other day. I was blown away by the feel. I'm so used to vbar now. One huge difference was stability near thr ground. Brain2 stays locked in making landings /hovering easy. Vbar is all over the place. This is noticed on 9 helis running vbar. In the air they feel similar, but brain2 feels smoother overall. Just more natural I guess. Hard to describe. Wonder if it's the vbar or just my settings. Might switch a few other helis to spare brain2. I have and see. Vbar is just getting too $$$ for me. The units have not been reliable either. Two units have gyro issues. That's ridiculous for the money they cost compared to brain2 .
This was helpful. I’m building a Nimbus with the same setup. Do you have a HobbyWing setup vid too? How close were your gyro gain settings based on your initial setup?
Thanks for the tutorial Jeff, just finished my Nimbus build and got it flying thanks to your help! One quick question, I Actually installed an 11 tooth pinion on my build. What rpms should I set the governor too? I just heard they run better with the 11 tooth
Awesome glad it was easy to follow and setup!you can set your head speed to what you like. You can also use a head speed calculator and put in your exact gearing and it will tell you what head speed it will be at max say 90% throttle and you can go from there. But you can use the same head speed settings I put in this video.
Hey Jeff, just a silly question. Are you using IKON’s governor or Hobbywing’s governor in this video? I reckon it’s IKON’s. If we would like to use Hobbywing’s gov then we wouldn’t need to insert the gov’s single wire to RPM slot in the IKON right?
so I recommend a minimum of 8ch. The NX8 or NX10. If you want a really nice radio that will last you forever, I would recommend the IX14. The reason you want eight channels minimum is so you can set up things like rescue auto level and as you get into bigger, helicopters or scale helicopters, you will have the channels you need for retracting lights any of that good stuff. Also, I am a big believer in buying more radio than you think you need.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Many thanks so I will keep my eyes open those 3 models you named. There a lot of good deals on the used item market over here in germany like a smaller version of eBay.
Hi Jeff. Would you have an idea why IKon2 would not let me get pass the throttle check even though I lowered TH to a negative number. Actually, I tried everything from TH, throttle travel, throttle trim, and even reset throttle end points on the ESC. On occasion, I was able to get past the Throttle Check warning screen and was even able to set swash direction. But, when I tried to center servos to 90, that TH warning came back. I'm wondering if it had anything to do with the governor but I had it disabled. I ended up returning the IKON2 after 6 hours of various attempts to get past that stage. Just concerned, I'd have the same problem if I tried another IKon2 on the NX6 transmitter I have.
Normally, when that happens, it’s because the throttle trim is not low enough and it doesn’t see a true zero throttle and then you’re trying to go to a negative value and hold mode and because it already didn’t see it zero throttle it’s not going to see the negative value. Sometimes, if something like that happens, I will delete the model file in the radio and start over because every once in a while, something could happen to the file and it just will not allow you to do things like that. The iKON is an incredible Fbl unit. to the file and it just will not allow you to do things like that. The iKON is an incredible FBL unit and very easy to set up compared to a lot of the other ones on the market. Give it another try you will be very happy!
great information on the icon setup
Thank you! I appreciate it!
great jeff, I wish to see OMP M4 review and comparison with Goo-sky and raw 420 soon
Thank you! Hopefully I can buy the M4 very soon!
Hey Jeff... What size heat shrink do you use to tidy up the servo wires? 1/2" or 1/4"? Thanks!
Nevermind, I found the video you made on how to wire up your heli professionally! Excellent vid by the way. Thanks!

Hi Jeff, great vid, great information! But before flight you have also do the governor set up, thats right…? Thank you.
Thank you! So yes, if you run the governor in the iKon you will need to set that up before flying. If you want the governor to work.

Thanks Jeff - would not it bee a interessant vid, if you show us your esc hobbywing setup? Thank you and have a nice day!

Once you have pitch at +12.5 and -12.5 and then you do the same for aileron, do you need to set elevator too? Thank you.
No, you only use the Aileron for your Cyclic pitch range.
Which Spektrum radio would you recommend to me getting back into rc helis, Jeff?

Hello jeff. I just got the 470lp. Do i need the program card for the included esc?

how you like this heli ? over a t-rex 550
It’s been great so far! Definitely like it! It’s bigger then a 500 by a good bit. But it’s a great heli.
