Kratom is a tree. The leaves are used as a recreational drug and as medicine. Kratom is banned by some states in the U.S. due to safety concerns.
People use kratom for withdrawal from heroin, morphine, and other opioid drugs, as well as cough, depression, anxiety, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.
Using kratom can also be unsafe. Kratom use has been linked to serious side effects including hallucinations, seizures, liver damage, withdrawal, and death. Due to these and other serious safety concerns, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues to warn people to avoid using products containing kratom or its ingredients.
    How does it work?
Kratom contains a chemical called mitragynine. Mitragynine works like opioid drugs such as codeine and morphine to relieve pain.
    Uses & Effectiveness?
    Insufficient Evidence for
    Anxiety.
    Cough.
    Depression.
    Diabetes.
    Diarrhea.
    High blood pressure.
    Pain.
Withdrawal from heroin, morphine, and other opioid drugs.
    Other conditions.
More evidence is needed to rate the effectiveness of kratom for these uses.
When taken by mouth: Kratom is POSSIBLY UNSAFE for most people. Kratom can cause many side effects, including tongue numbness, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, need to urinate, constipation, aggression, hallucinations, delusions, and thyroid problems. Kratom in large doses may cause trouble breathing, brain swelling, seizure, liver damage, and death.
Kratom can cause dependence when taken regularly. People who use kratom regularly and then stop taking it may experience decreased appetite, diarrhea, muscle pain and spasms, twitches, watery eyes, anxiety, trouble sleeping, anger, hot flashes, and fever.
    Special Precautions & Warnings:
Pregnancy: Kratom is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when taken by mouth during pregnancy. Babies born to women who have used kratom during pregnancy have experienced withdrawal symptoms. These babies required special treatment for addiction.
Breast-feeding: There isn't enough reliable information to know if kratom is safe to use when breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.
Alcoholism: People with alcohol dependence who use kratom appear to have an increased risk of suicide compared to those who use kratom but are not dependent on alcohol.
Mental disorders: In theory, kratom might worsen existing mental disorders. Also, people with mental disorders who use kratom appear to have an increased risk of suicide compared to those who use kratom but do not have a mental disorder.

I’ve been taking Kratom for over 6 years. I’ve never had any issues with taking it. The only problem I’ve had was my pain went away, my anxiety went away, and I lost 80+ lbs which is good because I was heavily overweight. It’s saved my life!

Entire comment section is a bunch of butthurt junkes and soi bois whining and crying about how good kratom is and don't listen to this guy and something about their moms or fathers dying of cancer. Nobody gives a damn about your junke soi boi problems or your families. It is hilarious how high people are supposed to be stereotyped as "super chill hippies" when every pot and the opioid user is a triggered Reddit mod transincel troll. Baseem was fully honest about overdosing, but also never said buy/do not buy and said how they openly hide the serious side effects or Kratom big or small doses by you people on forums.

I struggled with Opiate addiction for years. Lost my 20+ year career in Fire/Rescue, lost my marriage, contemplated suicide more than once, couldn’t hold down a job…
I was desperate and eventually read about Kratom in February of 2022.
It took all of thirty minutes after my very first OPMS Gold shot to feel like myself again for the first time in YEARS.
It totally ended my desire to find opiates. Zero desire for that Oxy. It reversed years of chronic pain, GI issues, I was able to actually get restful sleep, had energy to get out of bed and get back to living life.
I am now several weeks into an incredible career (not a job, a career), and am well on my way to rebuilding a life that I can be proud of.
Actually switched from OPMS Black shots to the Borneo green vein capsules yesterday. Still need to get the dosage dialed in, but so far, the caps seem to be working just as well at a lower dose than the shots.
This stuff is a God send.

Well it's his experience and we should respect that. But you are absolutely right. This plant is not part of the "opioid family", it's actually part of the coffee family oddly enough. I think what he means to say is that the alkaloids interact with opioid receptors. That isn't inherently a good or bad thing, it just is what it is. I think the biggest caveat that should be taken from this is that if you are going to use this it should be done responsibly as we don't have studies on the long term consequences. I do think it's worth having on the market.

  • @therealpsychotrader
    @therealpsychotrader Год назад +3

I appreciate you being honest and open about your experience and so truthful of your own faults regarding it. I have been using Kratom for around 5 years now and it's taken multiple bouts of sickness to get myself disciplined in its usage. Right now I take 1 teapsoon 3 times daily. These are at set times, (7am, 12pm and 7pm). Every dosage is taken along with a mushroom complex, and green complex with probiotics. These things are EXTREMELY important in order to keep your gut balanced. There are ways to maintain long term and keep your overall health, but it really takes research and testing with your particular body type. Things like your overall diet outside of Kratom are also a huge factor. I have a pretty sizable food forest that I have created on my property, so I am also not ingesting garbage food from the store (exceptions to this though). My point is that as long as you're actively living a healthy lifestyle, and being proactive to support your gut, you can almost completely mitigate the bad effects. Regarding libido, I have not experienced a decrease so I cannot comment.

Skin crawling, chills, headache, cold sweats, hot sweats, restless leg syndrome, body aches…etc.

With libido issues. Digestive issues. I would guess hydration could fix those two. Especially if you're eating it dry or tossing and washing it down. Steep it like a tea then filter through a "brew buddy" this gives you digestive system a break and you still need to drink like twice amount of water. If I do that I have no issues with my digestion and not only strong libido but strong like bull...lol if I don't drink lots and lots of water when I consume kratom I feel pretty s***** the next morning although I'm mixing it with a lot of marijuana as well that probably has something to do with it my foggy head dry eyes that don't want to open. Also I would recommend weighing your doses digitally because guessing with a teaspoon you can easily overdo it. 3 to 5 g when I lean towards three grams I feel more like I've drank coffee. if I push past five grams or more I don't feel like doing much of anything especiall banging.

I had the exact same issue where it started to give me really bad gut pain and I felt sick and feverish. You may not believe me, but it's the literal leaf matter, not the kratom. The powder should not be consumed the way people do it in the west. *** It should not be swallowed! *** I've been using kratom for 4 years daily now and had the same issue as you after the first couple weeks. I almost just gave up with it. Then someone online told me you need to make a boiled and filtered tea out of it. After doing it the filtered way, all those negative symptoms went away forever. @@maaikewilhelmina1457 It takes a long time. You put a few cups of water (I usually put 6) in a medium sized pot. Then weigh out the kratom. I do anywhere from 7g to 20g - depends on your tolerance. Put that in the pot on max heat. It will start foaming as it begins boiling. Blow on the foam or use a spoon to crush it. When the foam starts to get less, turn the heat down to medium low and let that do a slow boil for 30 mins. After this, turn off the heat and slosh it around a lot to make sure all the sediment is floating around. Pour that into an aeropress quickly and in the sink. I get two big glasses of tea from this or three medium sized ones. It lasts all day. Make sure when you have later glasses that it's fully reheated and sloshed around again or it will be an unbalanced dose. It's kind of a PITA, but once you get good at it, it's not too bad.

One important aspect you didn’t mention is the products themselves. What you experienced was likely caused by bacteria contamination of your product. These leaf powders can often be contaminated with bacteria due to moisture in the bag, improper storage, etc. They can even be contaminated with pesticides and heavy metals. What is extremely important is that one must make sure to inform themselves through online forums such as reddit, where they can buy the highest quality leaf powder. Many people use it for years without any complications. The complications arise, when you buy the stuff from random websites or even worse, headshops, gas stations, etc.

I just started taking kratom 3 days ago…….. I am trying to get myself off of opiate painkillers and lessen the withdrawals from em…….. so far so good……. Not getting “high” but at the same time I’m not getting dope sick. I did my research on kratom and weighed the pros and cons. For me personally, kratom is a better alternative to painkillers. It’s a “harm reduction” thing………

Im definitely addicted to Kratom. Been taking it about 3 months now. First few months about 2 heaping tsb twice a day. The last month the same dose but bigger heaping tsp’s and about 3-4x/day. The good thing is that it’s so much powder and so gross to have to chug down that’s what limits me to using anymore than I do now. What sucks is I feel flu’ish when I don’t take it so I know that’s a withdrawal 😑

    • @silbernagle09
      @silbernagle09 2 года назад +2

Yeah man what I found works best is start a slow taper, start cutting back morning dose first so the night dose will still help you sleep, might feel a little uncomfortable during the day but staying busy and slowly cutting back doses is the way to go. You start to get used to the smaller doses with not as bad withdrawal as stopping cold turkey but the hardest part I feel is the mental urge to dose again. You can do it though, it's worth it!!

About one teaspoon(roughly 2 grams). 4-5 grams is a good amount. 6-10 grams + is a heavy dose. More than that at once is a bit too much imo. Thanks for speaking up for the libido issue, this is a side effect that you will most likely have when taking molecule that binds to opioid receptors. Most people will pretend they don't have it but when I was taking it I was like.. man there's no way not 90% of people taking it feels like this, since this is purely logical for a drug that will release lots of Serotonin, which is a transporter to Prolactin. So down the line you have spiked up Prolactin all day long, which is one of the hormone released after having sex which makes you feel satisfied and not wanting to have sex anymore.

Please buy at least a cheapest digital scale with precision of 0.01g. There are also special wooden spoons for Kratom ~0.5g but even those require a scale for proper dosing. Teaspoon is not the right tool to measure dose of anything - even coffee, tea or sugar. Rule #1 of a smart user (not abuser!) and lifehacker is 'always measure your dose'. Another rule is 'start low, find the smallest working dose possible and stick to it'. Check out Hamilton Morris for more wisdom in this field.

I do have kratom here, but I didn't use it so far, because I'm still reading up on it and while your experience is nothing to invalidate, it most likely stems from you misusing it.

    1. Thank you for sharing this. I hope your health improves.
    2. As stated, you were using WAY too much
    3. You do not know your condition was (or was not) caused by Kratom, even though it is likely due to heavy and frequent use (and over-working).
    4. Of course you had w/d’s. Taking that much of anything sustained for weeks, but also Kratom has opioid-like properties so… yeah.
It’s unfortunate you “got hooked” and it’s true its not completely your fault due to no dosing instructions. People DO need to heed warnings like yours from people who have become dependent.
I have been using tiny doses
(about 1/2 tsp) 4-5 days/week for maybe 6 weeks and I can tell I would like to take it forever - but I know enough to say IT SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN DAILY.
Yes it helps with ADHD, fatigue, pain, energy etc. Its little short of a miracle!! But that is the first warning to tread lightly. Be careful, do not increase your dosing or use more and more often.

I grew up on the Rez and we take some things that alter our state for ceremonies and we know that it’s smart to take it a controlled environment and not to abuse it , I’m sorry but your just an abuser who wants to blame the substance instead of the choices you made .

Drink lots of water and take magnesium or other supplement as digestive aid, or brew it into a tea.
Don’t take it every single day, you need breaks. Still need to eat and sleep properly. You don’t develop insomnia and the other problems u had unless ur taking too much, too often, and not hydrating properly.

I'm sorry, but I think your pancreatitis is probably not liked to Kratom use, it is definitely a lot more likely that Kratom has nothing to do with it. There is no medical connection whatsoever between the use of kratom and this sickness. Yes, there are like 2 or 3 stories of people who took insane amounts of Kratom and reported this, but nobody knows if there is even a link, it is just speculation.
Your daily dose btw wasn't that much after all, of course it was quite a bit, but not much. If you take any pschoactive substance daily you might develop some problems. If that's Heroin, Coffee or Kratom does actually not really matter.
I think basically saying "It's all the kratoms fault" is a bit much (I know you aren't). It can be a good tool e.g. for pain patients. I wish you all the best!

Please do more research before mixing drugs, wellbutrin lowers your seizure threshold more than any other drug out there. Kratom lowers it a very small amount, but when it comes to wellbutrin mixing it with any drug that lowers the seizure threshold whatsoever is insanely risky.
Even in patents using just wellbutrin at typical doses (150-300mg) the risk of seizure is about 1/1000, which is extremely high considered how often it's given out. Absolutely never mix wellbutrin with kratom, alcohol, phenibut, anything that causes seizures.

A lot of people use Kratom as a cheap shortcut to get high ,therefore abuse it . I make tea with it and add some ( don’t know how much ) to normal tea or if going for a walk I sometimes chew half a leaf ( I buy fresh from market ).
It should not be taken every day ,I use it like any other painkiller- only when needed . As it’s hard to know the dosage, best to take too little than too much .
Fortunately I do not have anxiety issues ,I only use it for an injury - which seems to help as I do strengthening and mobility exercises for my injury . If I do not use it and overdo the therapy exercises I tend to get inflammation, but if use light dose I do not get the same amount of painful inflammation - I’ve learned my lesson by knowing when and how much I can push my rehabilitation exercises. As my injury is healing ,tendons getting stronger I use it less often .
So far I have no side effects nor any other issues .just stupidity on my part for over doing the exercises. As my strength is returning,I can use heavier weights and do not need to do a lot of repetitive exercising.
I’d say taking it for no reason is not a good idea .

I'm not taking it more then once a week, and sometimes I stay off it for weeks. When I feel anxiety, I take a (small) dose and I feel a bit of a "high" that fades after an hour or two.
I have the experience like he did, not constipation, but the reverse. And the days after I get headaches sometimes or even a small fever.
And I like that. It makes me realize I need to be careful. That I can't take it just when I feel like it, but only when I really need it.
I respect herbs and nature. When they give you signs, you listen. And you listen good. You respect the signs and respect your position in nature. If you have trouble sleeping because of a herb, back off. If it numbs the pain, great, but don't use it as a lifetime painkiller. There are healthier ways, even breathing excercises that let you "control" your pain. (Wim Hoff anyone?)
It's a bit like beer really. Or coffee. One numbs your senses (alcohol) and calmes your nerves (due to hop), but in large quantities it will harm your liver.
Coffee makes you feel alert, but affects your heart and nerves.
It's all drugs in a way. It's listening to your body that's the hardest part.
Once you start to slip and slide, you're bound to hit a tree along the road.
