Thank you for validating how difficult it is to work from home with a sick family member. I taught FT and my spouse is terminally ill. I couldn’t manage it all without boundaries, and my job performance suffered... I was let go last week after 19 years: not for gross violations, rather for not meeting deadlines or not responding to inquiries or emails in a timely manner.
I am devastated and so scared of not having stable income, benefits, etc. not to mention the shame I feel.
I want to somehow turn my situation into a positive, to serve others... but I’m not sure how to yet. Maybe once the dust settles... Thank you

Interesting. I just learned that my employer offers an AEP program that is actually pretty good. They sent me a list of professional counselors who are available in my area and it's very robust. I plan to take advantage of this benefit when needed it's included as part of the benefits, so why not? As a certified life coach and counselor-in-training I see the benefit of having access to professionals who may be able to help employees work through life's many difficult challenges. Thank you, HR Party of One for this video!

All they really do is get rid of people as quick as they can. At least from what I've seen at Publix, don't know how other companies are. I essentially was suffering from depression which caused an alcohol abuse problem and they simply got rid of me before I was able to recover. I think it's best to learn how to live with no income like just in case if for some reason you lose your job and are unable to work. Thankfully, I learned how to speak Spanish and now work with someone from Querétaro, México.
