He was so good in highschool, when he wants to play in the NBA, and at the time la Lakers general manager went to a pre draft practice for all the top players, he was so impressed by him after he got back to LA and because laker was draffing in the bottom half and he knows Kobe will be gone by then so he persue the team owner to draft him, the owner agreed with him so GM put together a package of players trade them for the team with second pick , when local sports media found out that trade was like GM pretty much give away half of the team to get this high school player, they all critical about the trade most of them are critical him gives away half of the team which means it's going to take few years before they can get the right players for the team, but GM was confident in his decision and lower back him up the GM slowly rebuild the team with drafts and free agency and he was right those players later play a big hand when Lakers win the NBA championship, but his NBA career is not smooth to start with because he has such bad teammates and he sees it's his responsibility to win games with him so his teammates give him a Nick name black hole which means he is like a black hole with basketball once he got it, It will never come out just like a black hole some people said he was too selfish with the ball and should have more confidence with his teammates but later he got a new coach and slowly he has teammates get involved with the game and with that laker finally won the NBA championship, but here was a story from a local sports talk show host One more on his show he told a story about him and Kobe,it was two evening ago he was in a restaurant eating after he took his family to see a movie and in the restaurant he saw Kobe came in and being a friend so he said hello and invited him to sit down with him to have dinner together, but Kobe declined said he needed to go back to his house for a work up, the Host was impressed with Kobe because he had just won a NBA championship and was the best player in NBA plus this is after the season was over and on a Saturday evening most people would use this time to relax but not Kobe he still wants to get better and he said that is the reason why he is the best player in basketball because he was not satisfied with himself and wanted to get Even better than before, but he didn't gets better and he got a new nickname black mamba which is a African snake and is very poisonous one bit from it you die they called him that because during the game and with the game close he would make a Play to turn around the game and like a black mamba it kills the other teams spirit to play with Lakers it's too bad he was killed in that tragic accident he was going to a game which was sponsored by his foundation and he was will respect in the sports world that year the Los Angeles baseball team honored him with everything dodger players has a little patch of numbers 24 on their uniforms and I was moved by that when NBA season started Lakers retired his number which is a great honor because when a team retired a number it meant that no one is good enough to have the same number uniform
