This is exactly what I need to know about in our building project for the heated floors in our dog facilities.
We have now prepared the land by adding leveled 3” minus gravel with a 6” layer of leveled and tamped decomposed granite.
We will now be adding the wire mesh layer (to deter dogs from digging) and another final layer of decomposed granite to cover the wire mesh.
Once that last bit is complete, we will be ready to pour the outside five 10’ x 30’ cement runs with drains (patterned after another one of your older videos).
Then, we can secure the wielded metal fencing we have purchased into the cement and place the five 12’ x 10’ cedar sheds in place in front of the cement runs.
Once that is completed, then we can really begin to prepare the inside of the sheds for heated cement flooring.
We are doing all of this work on our own little by little.
Thank you so much for all of this foundational detailing from the home build near your place. It is extremely helpful to see the process unfold.

You're MOST WELCOME and thanks for the donation!!! If only MORE people appreciated the value and the time I'm spending putting all this information up to watch for free.

Not so sure if the sequence of vapor barrier and then foam and then pouring concrete is right.. i think it should be foam then vapor barrier and then concrete otherwise the foam can float up..

Believe me, my method is right. An ASTM-1745 vapor barrier on top of the gravel will ensure the foam stays nice and dry even though it's closed-cell. I started to watch the video you sent, but it's a boring lecture. I gave up after 1 minute. Bottom Line: You put in the vapor barrier wherever you want. Just remember, you get one chance to get it right. GL as we say in Morse.

it is correct. vapor barrier on top of gravel.

@shenoyglobal, Joe Lstiburek, the building science guy, agrees with you. Putting the vapor barrier next to the cold ground and having the insulation above it will result in condensation on the top side of the vapor barrier, inside the building. Putting the vapor barrier above the foam means it's not next to a cold surface, and therefore condensation will not collect on the barrier. This has now been proven over and over; I'm surprised so many builders keep on using old methods that have been shown to not work as well.

Yes, the vapour barrier always goes on the warm side of the insulation.
