Well with where the story is going, he won't stay mindless. I won't say i know for sure, but it seems pretty obvious that Bonney is gonna use his memories she found to restore Kuma's memories at some point. I dont know how this will end, but since Kuma is severely injured both by Saturn and Akainu i think he did while protecting Bonney, Vegapunk and Luffy. I wouldn't compare Kuma to Snape being that I remember that he (at least in the books) relished making Harry's life hell at his worst. He projected that hatred of his dad, James, who bullied him in the past, onto Harry. Film Snape is more sympathetic (Mostly due to Alan Rickman, RIP); he's more of a grump, but still disapproving of Harry. Kuma was more seemingly cruel to Luffy _when he had to be,_ and respected him more and more. I'd compare him more to Magneto; a man with badass powers and a tragic genocide-related backstory (Max being a Jew and Bart being a Buccaneer), and had every right to act on his darkest impulses. However, unlike Magneto, who _did_ act, and tried to enforce mutant supremacy with his powers, Kuma uses his powers to help all innocent people and take on others pain (while still having to use violence at times to protect the innocent). It also helps that Kuma had a great love interest who was supportive of his powers, parents who instilled in him a positive role model in Nika, and friends in Ivankov and Dragon who understood and supported his interests and ideologies, compared to Magneto, whose wife left him because of his powers, and his friend, Charles Xavier, left him too because their ideologies were so fundamentally different at the time.

His faith ever since the first pages of his backstory is already established that it lies on the Sun God Nika, who is basically the Messianic figure of the slaves. The whole idea of his character is influenced by Christian iconography (the church, the cross on the wall, the outfit he wore when he was younger, the literal BIBLE on his hand) and is a direct reference to Catholic saints (the sacrifices he made). The Celestial Dragons in this world are a bunch of normal humans who want to play God, yet without the system and the Marines protecting them, they become utterly vulnerable and powerless, which is the opposite of what a god, like Nika, is.

The one good thing about this is that the regarding whole “memories” thing vegapunk did keep his word. He just kept them all on a random room and never did anything with them or told anyone about them, and the decision ultimately had positive consequences.

Ok so I have a few questions...so Kuma is established as an incredibly kind and selfless individual to the point that it causes him unnecessary pain. If that's the case, then why did he show zero hesitation in bombing the people on Thriller Bark? It's not like the World Government has cameras on him or anything, so couldn't he have just...not attempted the orders given to him and then lie to the WG saying he did it later? Because even though we're only shown the Straw Hats after his bomb goes off, what about everybody else? Are some dead? If so, wouldn't that make him a murderer, and go against his characterization of being extremely compassionate towards everybody? Even just a thought bubble of him apologizing to the Thriller Bark people for what he's about to do(the bomb) would be enough, but we don't get even that, he just bombs them without hesitance. And you can't just say, "Oh but the WG would punish him for not doing so", because not only did he not kill the Straw Hats, but he also didn't take Luffy due to his deal with Zoro, so he ultimately failed his MAIN mission but we never hear him being punished or anything by the WG for his failure. If the WG won't punish him for THAT, then the literal bombing of Thriller Bark wouldn't be unavoidable too, right? And if he didn't make the deal with Zoro, would he have just taken Luffy, DRAGON'S SON, and give him to the WG? How the heck would he explain that to Dragon? And why was his ultimate decision to not take Luffy be because of Zoro, and not because of him being the Revolutionary Army's leader's son? And what would he have done in Sabaody if Luffy didn't impress him with his previous actions in the story? Would he have just...killed him and the Straw Hats without hesitance? His thought bubble during his sending away of the Straw Hats are about him doing this because Luffy will one day save the world as Nika, and not because the Straw Hats don't deserve to die. His care of the Straw Hats seem to only be because of what Luffy could do to save the world instead of some selfless unconditional kindness. This wouldn't bother me as much if his previous characterization by Oda wasn't that of an extremely kind selfless person. If somebody could explain to me what I'm missing, I'd really appreciate it.
I'm not sure if this videos uses the last few pages of Kuma's backstory, because im not watching it but the culmination of everything we just learned about kuma illustrated as a running panel! On the day he's supposed to keep his bargain with the WG and have his personality erased,Vegapunk is ugly crying (as am I) and Kuma apologizes for any potential harm or trouble his life may have caused people. Vegapunk say's; "Kuma, listen to me; Your life hasn't caused anyone harm or trouble, but your death will pain everyone who loves you!!" Brother, if you are going to write an essay analysing and comparing the book of Job and the story of kuma, atleast make sure you actually read it. God didn't torture Job, God allowed the devil to torture Job to test his faith. The point of the story in my opinion is to show that it's easy to be good and faithful when life is good and nothing ever goes wrong. God allows suffering and evil because it makes us grow in virtue. Overcoming it makes us better men.
You also equate God to the celestials? Did you perhaps forget the New Testament where God lowers himself to our human level to be a servant, teach humility and allows himself to be betrayed, ridiculed, tortured and killed for our salvation? Teaching us that humility and self sacrifice are the highest of virtues?

Kuma is imo the most tragic backstory. Him sucker punching Saturn was glorious, and I can't wait for it to be animated. Shame it didn't do any permanent damage.
The one good thing about this is that the regarding whole “memories” thing vegapunk did keep his word. He just kept them all on a random room and never did anything with them or told anyone about them, and the decision ultimately had positive consequences.
The best part about Kuma is how he never strayed to a path of vengeance or sth like that as he was always surrounded by at leat 1 good person.

Ok so I have a few questions...so Kuma is established as an incredibly kind and selfless individual to the point that it causes him unnecessary pain. If that's the case, then why did he show zero hesitation in bombing the people on Thriller Bark? It's not like the World Government has cameras on him or anything, so couldn't he have just...not attempted the orders given to him and then lie to the WG saying he did it later? Because even though we're only shown the Straw Hats after his bomb goes off, what about everybody else? Are some dead? If so, wouldn't that make him a murderer, and go against his characterization of being extremely compassionate towards everybody? Even just a thought bubble of him apologizing to the Thriller Bark people for what he's about to do(the bomb) would be enough, but we don't get even that, he just bombs them without hesitance. And you can't just say, "Oh but the WG would punish him for not doing so", because not only did he not kill the Straw Hats, but he also didn't take Luffy due to his deal with Zoro, so he ultimately failed his MAIN mission but we never hear him being punished or anything by the WG for his failure. If the WG won't punish him for THAT, then the literal bombing of Thriller Bark wouldn't be unavoidable too, right? And if he didn't make the deal with Zoro, would he have just taken Luffy, DRAGON'S SON, and give him to the WG? How the heck would he explain that to Dragon? And why was his ultimate decision to not take Luffy be because of Zoro, and not because of him being the Revolutionary Army's leader's son? And what would he have done in Sabaody if Luffy didn't impress him with his previous actions in the story? Would he have just...killed him and the Straw Hats without hesitance? His thought bubble during his sending away of the Straw Hats are about him doing this because Luffy will one day save the world as Nika, and not because the Straw Hats don't deserve to die. His care of the Straw Hats seem to only be because of what Luffy could do to save the world instead of some selfless unconditional kindness. This wouldn't bother me as much if his previous characterization by Oda wasn't that of an extremely kind selfless person. If somebody could explain to me what I'm missing, I'd really appreciate it.
His emotions were 90 present removed, thus he was emotionless, but he did so pity and let them survive, maybe only pity was left in him

On the day he's supposed to keep his bargain with the WG and have his personality erased,Vegapunk is ugly crying (as am I) and Kuma apologizes for any potential harm or trouble his life may have caused people. Vegapunk say's;
"Kuma, listen to me; Your life hasn't caused anyone harm or trouble, but your death will pain everyone who loves you!!"
