would be fun to see a HK skull being the knight a rare skull, becoming The hollow knight in unique and then becomes pure vessel or smth. hell, he can even be a base legendary speed skull that can be a magic damage kind of skull
I completely agree with this and want this in the game as soon as possible.
Wait, what about a Hornet skull which starts at unique and is called Protector, and the legendary is Sentinel

knowing the lore the knight wouldn't really evolve into anything afawk so it'd probably be a legend skull
i could also see it playing exactly like in HK too with the pogo [tho it probably won't be broken or anything like as the nail was in Dead Cells (god that was funny)]
the skills would be nail arts and spells and dealing physical damage builds soul which you could then use to use the spell skil. which spells and nail arts you use would be dependent on what direction you're pressing/holding and the spells would make skul invincible as the animation is playing like how the slam spell in hk works. the spells would also become their void versions when skul's health is low too. tapping the spell skill button would cast the "fireball" hk spell and holding it with no direction would have you heal like in hk too. to counteract the healing your soul will continuosly drain out of battle like ghoul's flesh and king's cells. oh and both skills would not have cooldown, this is balanced with the fact that nail arts need concentration time and spells expend your soul meter. the soul spell skills would also deal a bit more base damage then the nail art skills
the idea here is that just like in hk you are fragile but as also just like in hk you can circumvent this with knowledge and skill of the game and using windows your enemies give you. the hybridity of the skul's phy and mag damage would also allow you three potential damage options with a balanced and safer dual damage option where you focus on both nail arts and spells, a more in the now phys build where you can get concentration items and damage increasers to spam nail arts for big damage and only using soul to heal, and a magic build where you play a game of patience to build up soul and then unload your spells on the enemy for again big damage.

Yes, been waiting for a Minotaur run, imo he's right up there with Ghoul for best power skull in the game. He just hits so hard, his swap is great, and the stun even without any support puts in work. If you get your items, he just destroys anything not stun immune. I would however like to see another itemization pass, because some things are still just so terrible, like freeze, and some builds you just fall into due to the sheer number of items that have their inscription.

The Return of MAH BOI! Minotaur is just so fun. Just a big bulky boi who is here FOR CRUSHING. Such a solid skull. Just a big powerhouse of a fella. Still probably one of my favorite skulls actually.
In relation to the run, one second of extra stun duration may not seem like much, but with the Legendary armor and the fact you get extra damage amp vs. stunned targets, that extra window for damage amp into the secondary hit from the armor can actually add up to quite a bit of extra burst. Not the most exciting buff, but it IS a potent effect. Your attacks were doing about 1.5k-3k damage on average during your stun windows, and then Armor would pop and just slap the hell outta dudes. Good times.
Also, if you wanted to do a Rockstar run while also still aiming for a new Enhanced Inscription to look at, maybe Fire Rockstar? Gotta get those Pyrotechnics! He doesn't do any innate fire, but a lot of what you do as Rockstar actually flows really well with what the Fire items want you to do (Use skills, spam attacks, and dash consistently.) so it could work out pretty well.
Took some time, but after 121 deaths I successfully finished my first run... I wasn't that bad with DC :D
It may be redeeming, that is was only the second time reaching Joan and the first time reaching the Hero.
And which team made it possible? Well, I assume it is easy to guess :D can only be the survival dream team Shield and Ghoul :D Ghoul also part when I made it the first time to Joan.
What is funny is the fact that I initially avoided power skulls. I normally prefer nimble characters. And especially Ghoul with his growing presence was my antithesis :D Like you mentioned in a lot of videos. The survivability of those two is crazy. I ate so much damage in the hero fight, that with every other skull it would have been over :D
Now it is time to get some consistency into beating runs (or it was a one time wonder, who knows) and unlocking more stuff before venturing into hard mode
Update goes hard, was able to get the -new boss, not the slightly more hidden one- 2nd try, but only 2hp left. Been checking skul news every day since it came out on PC and am very glad us console folks have it!

I had been checking about every day for the update on Switch but no joke a couple of days ago all these rouge likes had an update to download(might not have been new I just kept checking games till one didn't have an update). Madshot, Double Dragon, Have A Nice Death, Death or Treat and Doomsday Hunters. I got into Doomsday Hunters as I had only done a couple of runs before. A pretty good isometric twin stick shooter rouge like, you might like it if you haven't tried it before. Just went to download the Skul update after watching this vid and Brotato also has update today.
I was SO happy to finally see the update and dlc drop for PS4! Overall it's a great send off for the story, but I still have some lingering questions about what was up with the previous Demon King. They never seem to explain why he killed the Hero's original party members after being saved.

My 2024 has sucked, I'm ready for 2025. I started the year off with covid, which was immediately followed up by a case of labyrinthitis (aka vertigo).
But its always a good day when a Skul video comes out, so its not all bad

Yesterday I went to sleep at 1:30am cause I saw that the update was out... Got minotaur and shield and breezed through the whole thing, I couldn't wait anymore!!! I have to wait until next week to get the DLC cause I'm broke... But still 🔥🔥🔥
I would love to see a 'start' with a sin item (probably the gold one?) And build something out of it :)

By no means the most OP build ever. But full uptime balrog with revenge (and bone scream for good measure) has been my favorite build lately. Would recommend
I made a Hercules stun run. Nothing could resist me xD It was awesome ^^
okay, so as a console player, thoughts on all the new skulls despite having only played two of them:
-Guan Yu: Honestly, kinda suffers from Monkey syndrome of wanting to run everything but can't because of the 9 slots you're given. cool character, but damn is he slow at times. Unrivaled Strike is a cool idea for a move, but I wish you didn't have to jump through so many hoops just to do it. Maybe if they changed it so that the casting speed gets faster the further into your basic attack combo you're in, it would feel a lot better. It would also make the enhanced version a lot more interesting as well.
-Ascetic: Arguably a better Genie. Genie to me, his whole shtick is that he's a bit of an evasion tank of sorts with all his skills giving some form of i-frames. Ascetic does a very similar thing while also dealing pretty good damage, has fast skills for a power skull, and as a whole feels very fun. A skill cooldown run with both him and Genie is something I shall try in the future.
-Haven't tried Sparty, Thor, or Arthur yet, but out of all of them, I'll probably bounce off Sparty the best. Hell, Sparty kinda seems like a reverse Guan Yu but also a little bit better

I spent 6 straight hours doing Thor over and over before I finally got my DM10 clear including dark skul. Man is it tough. Slaves skills locking him for so long feels terrible but aside from that, all the new skulls and items are just incredible and for only 4 dollars!
Minotaur is my all time favorite skul and will always be.
The slam jump actually deals pretty big damage IMAO, i usually focus on it when i play as Minotaur, although i haven't been playing skul for a while, or anything

Picked it up as soon as i could, first run with the absolute on an omen masterpiece build. Lost on the last possible phase against the emperor (dm5), then absolutely demolished with thor/archlich omen 2 (idol of the forgotten and lunar eclipse which was dropped)/ treasure 4 (enhanced sword) to absolutely NUKE the final boss. after that I went back to quickly unlock the others so i could attempt a king run which i dropped for an absolute/champion pure damage run on dm6, still havent unlocked dark skul but I'm gonna have a blast trying to gradually get to higher and higher dark mirror levels!
Not gonna lie, but that ninja thing before stage 1 on the final boss...got me

I just tried out a DM 10 rare mummy run built around go getter and magic items. Cloud storm, invisible knife.. made it to dad but it might make for an interesting video beating dm10 with rare mummy .
I think it would be a cold day in hell when the almighty beelz does a mutant Minotaur build (Which is my favorite run I’ve done with him, bonus points for ent or bomber being the other skul)
remember when master fighter thieves longbow and gunpowder were like the essential for physical boys to deal with dad ? I miss those days a bit, now I rarely use master fighter bc I can't fit it with its inscriptions *sigh*

i got the game for christmas not too long ago, and recently downloaded the console update and bought the DLC, it's been fun.
still struggling on beating DM 5. but i did manage to at least beat the emperor and Dark Skul
also if it's not too much to ask, could we get a video going over the enchanted inscriptions and their effects?

Im new to the game and have only gotten to around level 4 so im not sure how viable it actually is but i recently did an attack speed and low skill cooldown build for Samurai and that was pretty fun.

The stun duration lasting 1 more second I think it's intended to help rack up more damage.
On its own, it gives you more time for amped damage from dizziness 4's amp.
But there's items that do fixed damage after the stun, depending on how much damage you did to the enemy.
More time = more opportunities to rack up damage.
Yes I am defending what is arguably one of the worst modified inscriptions of the game.

Managed to bring 4 Duel to the end finally, it’s… it’s not worth it. Even with the best Duel items and other things to help, it is just, bad.

I would love to see Vlad the Impaler as a skull. Start off Common (Vlad the human) and once he's legendary he becomes Dracula. Bleed synergy and healing. Mmm.

It is kinda rough how you can go into the community servers and struggle to find many resources for the game
While it isn't focused on Hard Mode I did make an overexplained run guide a while back that more or less covers about 90% of what new players might need to know as they get started.

You know, some of these skulls (like Minotaur and Ascetic) are part of the same mythos.
What if you did a normal mode run where you rigged in two skulls from the same mythos and did a themed run?
Can't rely on me for asking what's goin' on in the outside world, my ass remains writing my horrid depraved fiction and I guess occasionally streaming from inside my imp cave.
And yeah, this is kinda what I suspected for the niche inscription runs! That just running one of them and then a bunch of meta or just generally really good items beside it would not only be competitive but maybe even strong as hell. Now I'm curious if poison could do the same... Plus doesn't poison have two legendaries if you count the chimera item? Hmmmmmm... It's a shame there isn't a good dedicated poison skull like how bleed has sword.

Is the version you are playing the basic version with add-ons or do you have any mods installed?
I've got mods installed as well. But it's also the most up to date patch.
It may just be me but can someone tally how many times archmage shows up this run? Also how many unique skulls showed up
Samurai can't one shot anymore on DM10. Warrior definitely can. I one shot dark skul with a strike build warrior for 221k dmg. Filthiest build I've ever had by far.
I only managed to complete the base game with rookie mode on.

Patience and practice. You'll need to learn what each enemy does and the best way to avoid being hit by those attacks. I tend to focus on who I want to play and at least getting 2 skills on them before I worry about item rooms. Others do things differently though, I just prefer having a strong character first.
Defensive builds work wonders. Especially Ghoul and Shield.

You stand near it for about 30 seconds or so and it shows you where the location of one of the Pure Quartz is. You need to collect them all to open up the secret Dark Skul boss fight that I do near the end.

I dare you to do a true roguelike skul run new save no upgrades from normal mode to dark mirror 10 a single death means that you restart the entire thing also no grinding for good rng you may only play each difficulty once if you die you have to get rid of all of your dark quartz also every single run has to be streamed in order to make sure that you aren't cheating also you are allowed to unlock every purchasable item if you do so you are not allowed to keep it

Can somebody tell me what's the best build/skull or both to beat hard mode 10? I'm really struggling right now because I just got back To the game after a while and I still haven't beaten it
Ghoul or Shield. Get 2 Revenge for healing. Some Antique will help as well. If you go with Ghoul grab the Piety dark ability (veeeeeeery bottom left one that enhanced healing gained). Super Baby for more HP. Collection Desire if you have 4+ inscriptions to boost it. Stack a few damage items and go nuts.
Anything else on the build is adjusted based on what you get. Good curse abilities, defensive items like Knights Determination. Which quint you find etc.
