I have lived in Taiwan for so long I don't like walking either. When I visit Canada my friends and family think I'm lazy, but for me, I can't understand how they can live in such an inconvenient country haha. Even walking from the car across the parking lot to the store is too much for me

Haha, I'm starting to understand why TWese tend to react with utter disbelief when I tell them I often do more than 30'000 steps on a day, checking out different cities or just enjoying a long hike along the East coast. And I'm starting to understand why sidewalks and pedestrian infrastructure in general are so annoyingly bad in TW.

He's a friend of mine for back in the day (early 2000) when Taiwan was still very off the beaten path. Anyways, congrats on a solid channel and on the fact that making videos is now your brad and butter, no more teaching. Not many people can afford to do that. I know you must be constantly looking for some content ideas and I was thinking about that as well. Taiwan has changed insanely since 2000. How about a video on these changes, maybe interviewing this time some locals, asking them what they feel like, how these changes affected them and what was positive/negative. Food for thought...keep it up!

Prozzie, I could not stop laughing, so true, after 7 years in Taiwan, I can say that I too put on slip on sleeves and wear my jacket backwards. When it is 38c in July and driving down Youyuan Rd I always hide under a tree or awning while waiting at the Red light.
Love the energy, Prozzie! Frugality is not considered a virtue in the western culture, every move with the slightest hint of frugality is considered cheap. To Taiwanese, there is a BIG difference between being frugal and cheap. (Prozzie, less under-shirt only scenes could potentially increase your subscriber count… 😅)

Yeah, in Canadian residential neighbourhoods, Canadians don't like people making loud noises late at night either. I don't think the "problem" is Taiwan....
But Canadian cities have districts for bars or nightlife where louder noises are accepted. Taiwan has no area or zones for that kind of think so people often live close to bars where things get loud
American in the original means people from the Americas. But today it only means people from the USA. Many Taiwanese still think they are also 華人. But 中國人 and 華人 all called "Chinese" in English...... Like Malaysia and Singapore's ethnic Chinese, they call themselves Malaysian and Singaporean, but think their ethnicity is Chinese. Actually many of them's ethnicity is Cantonese or Hokkien. South China in ancient is Baiyue's people living land. Vietnam is probably the only independent country descendant of the Baiyue ethnic group. (But Vietnam's middle and south are Champa people.) There is one ancient song named "Song of the Yue Boatman" It's sung in the Old Yue language. People have to translate that song into the Han language. This song is probably the oldest East Asia LGBT literature. East Asia did not oppose gays in ancient. It is Christian culture (or Abrahamic religions) that makes gay become a sin......
I think lots of Taiwanese people maybe don't like foods that are as sweet as western foods but I wouldn't say they hate it. And lots of people in Taiwanese actually love cheese! It's just hard to find good cheese

I think he understands the situation but Hollywood has been kowtowing to China for a while now. They want use soft power to belittle Taiwan and trick western people
Also, to please the crowd of Chinese Americans who were brainwashed by their parents or grandparents who were born in China to think Taiwan is part of China. But they don’t know the true history or refuse to accept the truth.

Actually back when I was in Canada 20 years ago if ppl call me Chinese i was totally fine with it, nowaday due to political reason and having lived in Taiwan for the past 10 years I can now say I don’t like ppl calling me Chinese

Yeah, in Canadian residential neighbourhoods, Canadians don't like people making loud noises late at night either. I don't think the "problem" is Taiwan....
But Canadian cities have districts for bars or nightlife where louder noises are accepted. Taiwan has no area or zones for that kind of think so people often live close to bars where things get loud

I think lots of Taiwanese people maybe don't like foods that are as sweet as western foods but I wouldn't say they hate it. And lots of people in Taiwanese actually love cheese! It's just hard to find good cheese
