Hello Walter Roy Evans here former Buchman Studios requester. Buchman Studios was on the corner of 6th and Market caddy corner from Strifflers. I believe that was Olsen Studios you recorded. I appreciate you and admire your blog.
If your ever over in Duquesne again would love to see high school and Sherman ave. My grandparents lived 1028 Sherman ave. I heard it may be being redone? Thanks for sharing what’s going on up there. I have lived in SC for 40 years now.
That building on Shaw and Huey St. was Buchman Studios, but became the Studio of well known African American lndustrial Photographer Percy Garland. His wife was Hazel Garland the editor of the famous African American newspaper The Pittsburgh Courier. Their daughter Phyllis was a Professor of Journalism at Columbia University in New York City. Buchman's moved to Market St and 6TH St. around 1975 as I graduated in 1976 and had my photo taken at the Market St. location in the summer of 1975 for the 1976 yearbook. My grandmother was very good friends with Sam Buchman and his 2 sisters.
Sam Buchman was my cousin. I believe his first location was on Fifth Ave down by the old Robert Hall..We left in 1970 so I don't know of his relocations. Sam was a fine man and good friend of my father.

So I’m not crazy. I thought it was near the unemployment office
Thank you Walter.
Had our wedding photos taken there in 1974 on the way from the church to the reception.

Such a sham of a once beatutiful town.
Imagine what it would cost to build those beautiful buildings today. What a shame! Thankyou for sharing.
Had my senior picture taken at what I thought was Buchman's at the corner of Market and 6th in the 1976. I guess they moved after that.

I thought Buchman’s ended up at Market&6th St?
I lived in McKeesport and I don't remember that place
Easy to see how you can mix up one abandoned building with another. all of PukePort looks like this now.
Took of school pictures at west Mifflin South.
Hi walter Buchmans, but isnt that NAACP Noahs Ark place for black people now
Hi Walter. Could you go by and check if my childhood home is still standing. 3104 Grover Ave. I know it was condemned. Just wondering. Thanks!
You can google that location.
Actually, the Allegheny County assessment site could tell you that.
Where do you go food shopping? Are
there any real markets left downtown?
@@anthonytripp2251 not in downtown mckeesport
is cheke funeral home on same street?
Why didn't you park and walk around it. Get close shots? You probably could have gotten into it. I don't think anyone would have cared!
