Am I the only one who loves these looks? They're etheral yet simple, classic yet casual. It looks like something the goddess Hera would wear. I don't find it boring at all, I find it cohesive with all the flowing fabrics and draping and gold jewellry
The colours and textures were so subtle yet luxurious, the silhouettes so modern yet feminine and so wearable and friendly! And that gold fringe ... breath-taking in its movement and fluidity!
Amazing feminine collection, fulled with gracious looks. Women on catwalk are like breathy angels with perfect silhouettes! This collection is wearable what is important to understand. I LOVE this collection! Dior thank you for creating it!
They are not perfect silhouettes. They are half starved and barely do clothes justice. I want to see real women who have some meat wear these. I want to see real smiles and emotion. Their drab dull expressions bring the clothes down.
@@mrmrswelch7641 Perfect silhouette is not the same as body shape. The reason why I love this collection is that if you know how to sew or if you ask a tailor to try to recreate the look for your body (no matter what is the shape (apple, rectangle etc)) you will get a feminine piece of wardrobe. Please, notice that this collection puts an accent on the waist line and in some pieces on the bust as well. It creates a curvy line in all body types. Draped pieces sit well on different body types as well. About smiles and emotions - this is the show for clothing, not acting. People who attend the show (or see it like we do) should pay attention to the clothing, not to how pretty (or not) models are.
The gorgeous fabrics - the structure of each piece - pleating- draping - fringing and knotted soft colors that reflect the sky at dusk and twilight- the sun gods of our imagination- - jackets that are a work of art - a true master
@s b I bet every designer was dressing someone you who didn't have the best rep... Plus that probably before you were born... Fashion is problematic in general... So stop with the dramtics
Yeah I'm not sure why it's a trend right now for runway models to look and walk like zombies... I'd honestly prefer non anorexic, smiling people who walk down the runway with a bit more flair to them. Also with hair and makeup that makes them look good instead of dead and zombielike. Sometimes i see the instagram of one of these runway models and i think "damn, she's actually beautiful when her hair and makeup are not all weird like that"
@s b Of course I believe you, but holding onto things that happened so many years ago is unnecesary. Cruelty and discrimination happen everywhere, even on places we never thought it would, not only in germany of france. Do you think the people that works today at Dior are nazi? I doubt it.
I love and respect Maria but she should have her own House as this glamourous urban warrior valkyrian trail is her signature. I don't doubt the clothes are beautifully made but I wonder does it really challenge les petit mains in the Atelier. I remember seeing a documentary where some petit mains said with Galliano every collection was such a task to accomplish they were pushed to the limits but eager to go to work everyday as they loved the challenge of making the impossible happen. I wonder how they feel now. It must be quite monotonous now. This collection isn't bad as such but just safe and quite forgettable really.
Galliano was theatrical and he created a spectacle, but after the show, you couldn't see anywhere those dresses. Maybe in the museum and Dior's archive. Rarely on the red carpet. He challenged our imagination and he was thrilling without the doubt. Maria is more grounded in that sense but maybe more talented. I think these shapes are challenging enough, materials are really beautiful, and they add to the overall look of the collection. And I can imagine that someone will wear these dresses, they will continue to live...
Totally agreed. I think currently Valentino and Iris Van Herpen are the Haute Couture front-runners. This is all really quite bland and predictable. Plus gold lamé effect....havent we seen that a million times over?
A runway model is just a walking mannequin. They can't smile on the runway because if they smile the audience's attention wouldn't be able to focus on the clothes that they are wearing. And the fashion show suppose to showcase the work of the designer not how the models' expression in the clothes.
PeachyEats as true as that maybe the models are just walking hangers. They are there to show the clothes not them. I was a runway model many years ago I started at 14!
DIOR AND ROMA WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HOMAGE TO ANTIQUITY!!! MARIA GRAZIA KNOCKED IT OUTTA THE BALL PARK AND THE SOUNDTRACK IS 🔥🔥 MARIA IM SO GLAD YOU STUCK TO YOUR ROOTS WITH THIS ONE ROMA FOREVER!!!!
Maybe they want women to feel good about their looks. So rather than have gorgeous models that women compare themselves to and look in the mirror and think they look ugly, women see these models and then look at themselves in the mirror and think, "damn! I look beautiful!" 😊
I’m a sucking for neutral colors. I love it! Everything looks rich and luxuries. It’s full of classic silhouettes while still remaining current. Nothing looks dated. One thing... the headdresses did make me think of modern day Game of Thrones. Lol
i think is the same thing over and over again in a different fabric,,, all this drapes, pleats ,,,, its not ugly,,,, but shouldn't be the same,,, nope.
if this is the result of "if women rule the world", well i dont know. i dont see why this should be a special feminist approach to fashion. the way the fabric is draped around the body doesnt differ from other designers and is done in an old fashioned, dull way like you have seen a thousand times. there are many attempts in fashion history which took ancient Greece as inspiration and by doing that, opened a new aspect or even revolutionized the evolution of fashion. To name just a few: Fortuny, Mme Grès, Vionnet (I think she really undertood the "feminism"of antique greece draping and translated it perfectly in her own time). Later on there is a beautiful collection from Yamamoto who plays with the same idea through the lense of Vionnet. What could be an interesting point here is the confrontation of stiff fabric for the suits and the fludidity of the drapings. But also this chance has gone by trying to transport the idea of draping into stiff fabrics, which leads to awkward results.e. g. look at the jacket at 3:34. : the ugly bulge on the belly. There exists a collection from Romeo Gigli summer 1994 which is about the same idea. his drapings are innovativ and still modern today . and his jackets are a perfect match to the whole. But i must admit i m a big fan of his work. For me he is a true "feminist" .
This looks like Valentino when she was member of the CD-Team there. John Galliano and Raf Simons had their unique takes on Dior, but it looked and felt like Dior. This is just old, boring Valentino. The women look like angsty teens instead of emancipated women.
John Galliano not working for Dior anymore is work of the devil. His Dior collections will live on FOREVER. We need them in full HD or remastered to 4K. The Egyptian one especially, and the soundtrack was also A+
I love Maria Grazia, but well, I don't buy haute couture, so my opinion may not matter, however, it looks so old and boring! I couldn't even watch until the end.
Some of you make comments as if these couture shows are just for you guys to watch, we all get it you all love Galliano, but what you all seem to not comprehend is that the whole purpose of this shows is to sale and make money, under Gratzia and Simons the house of Dior net-worth has increased tremendously
I love the beautiful feminine goddess look, paired with the #bossbitch look. Mix of ancient and modern look. Women ruling the world looking like goddesses but having a fierce battle ready focus. Uhhhh I'm in love!
