  • Another memory tip: in DKA the “D” comes 1st so they’re Type 1 diabetic.
    Summary:
DKA: Type 1, breaks down fat = Ketones = Ketoacidosis. Which causes metabolic acidosis and increased potassium, Kussmauls respiration’s, blood sugars = 200-800, priority treatment = insulin
HHNK (HHNS): Type 2, commonly caused by infection, not enough sugar brought into cells, liver makes more sugar, patient becomes dehydrated, blood sugar 800-2,000, priority treatment = fluids.

Thanks so much! Reading about the difference and then "watching" your youTube was very helpful! I've been an R.N. for over 20 years, but we all need a refresher!

Never seen your videos, but I'm studying for medical step 2 and this was a perfect review, thanks. Also I actually cracked up at the ending there. You should keep that for every outro

Hey great videos! I just got accepted to do my final clinical rotation in the ICU, starting in a few weeks. Can you do a video on vents please? I know the basics but some pointers and things to look for to impress my preceptor would be great! thanks

Shoon I really appreciate your uploads. I've watched many of them, but dude that outro is just plain jarring! The outro is not bad, but the volume Equ bump at the end is just too much of a differential from what is going on in the main video.

Thank you for letting me know Jerry genuinely thank you. I’m just giving up on the outro for now. Appreciate the advice bro!
