I think you both will make reasonably strict and loving parents. That said, both of you will make world-class grandparents someday!!! My own grandparents had antics a lot like you, and I worshipped the ground they walked on. Your grandchildren will adore you like no one else ever will.

yes! 2 kids + 2 of there friends (son who is about 3 years older than me and had just gotten his licence, his younger sister whos my age, 13, and 2 other kids 14 and 15) were struck by a drunk driver coming back from a football game. none of them died, although all of them faced serious injurys, and 2 of them (son and one of the friends) both almost died. these were all kids who attended the middle and highschool that i go to, and this was a huge thing in my area for a long time.
There is no right or wrong answer in this for you two. The fact that you are taking the time BEFORE you have even gotten pregnant to address issues that may come up and discuss it is a very clear indicator of what amazing parents you will be. No parent knows what they will do in a situation until it arises generally so you are already WAY ahead of 70 percent of people who already are parents. ❤❤🎉🎉

When Sam said he’d leave the kid in jail, I really did laugh out loud because that’s exactly what I told my now-grown daughters I would do if they ever called me from jail. Specifically, “If you get arrested, go ahead and call me but just know I’m not coming to pick you up until the next day. So get comfy.”
To this day, both now in their 30’s, if that story comes up the end of it is always “…and we both knew mom meant it.”
All that to say this: the best advice I can offer that I didn’t learn until my oldest was 6 was -> never threaten a punishment or promise a reward unless you are prepared to do what you say. It teaches a child to stand by their own word while it also teaches that there’s no use arguing with you because you won’t be changing your mind (which is a MUST when raising teenagers). 😉

When it comes down to it, I think you both will great parents. I agreed with you on pretty much all of these. Closest thing I'll ever get to being a parent is a PCA to a mentally disabled adult (which has it's own challenges!

I think that the fight needs to be a self defense situation, if they are being bullied with words than that is not justified to physically attack the bully. If they are attacked or touched inappropriately than it is justified.
If they cheated on a serious test like the SATs or something like that, you shouldn't pay for any of their collage.

In all honesty, there are scenarios parents wouldn't know how best to handle until they actually happen and you both have to confront them head-on (while always maintaining a united front). Obviously, there are factors to consider: your kid's age, why they did it, their overall personality/demeanor (which makes it rather easy to predict a child's overall tendencies), whether or not it was unlike them to do it or they've consistently shown that pattern of behavior, honest mistakes or repeat offences, etcetera. Thankfully, your faith in God is strong, so you can always seek His face for wisdom and guidance on how best to instill discipline/responsibility in your children. im 13 and i just realised by this video, how unstrict i would be as a parent. i want to be a parent so bad when im older because i love kids and the thing with a lot of these questions like if they were drunk, skipped a class, got below a c things like that theres a reason. i wouldnt punish them for any of those because if my kid got below a c and wasnt trying in school they could be really hurting. they could be sad and has no motivation to do anything. i would ask them what is wrong and help them through it. If they were drunk, kids do stuff like that, obviously its not okay but i wouldnt punish them if they did it because they felt pressured or something. Again if they skipped class i wouldnt punish them because i skip classes sometimes and they are for reasons that i have been on the verge of tears because someones picking on me. i have never told my parents about being picked on but theres still always a reason and instead of instantly grounding them you should let them know your there for them if they need.
use this on kids 9 and younger, dont make them go to there room because i would love that as all my toys were there so when my mum introduced me to "naughty step" i was not happy and didnt do alot after that (the naughty step is where u are made to sit on the last step of your staircase in silence for 5 minutes and if u get up or speak before the 5 mins are up another 5 mins gets added)
