doom is actually really good right now, damage wise, but he feels so shit to play right now because he gets countered by himself with the new bugs :(
they literally gave him two bug fix buffs that I never noticed and then gave him two bug fix nerfs that I definitely will notice

Doom’s punch could’ve used a hitbox buff tbh. There’s times I’d shave someone’s ear off but get no hit regs. Meanwhile flats shooting Kiri Kumasi hardly near a cass and gets a headshot

Doom feels fine in lower ranks only issue is if they just go poke and have a brain you lose, also running into a stack is pretty much a guarantee way to lose, he’s easy to hit boom dps passive
It feels like you get emp a lot more , but why play doom when you can play Winston for more consistent damage or even dva
Updated thoughts after day 2 of 12+ hrs of ranked: ball is extremely good and can be played by ppl who don’t OTP him as long as they have the basics. Many of the tanks can be good but once counterswapped become completely unplayable. Zenyatta is almost required, brig and bap pair well with him. Once people figure out how to play pharah she is going to be decent. Junk is terrible. Tracer and widow are insane in high elo rn. You can play pretty much every hero and have success, but you’ll have an easier time on the ones in the highest 2 tiers in this vid

@@szyl In low elo, he absolutely *rolls* lobbies (with a decent baller, that is) until the enemy team swaps to counters, and since ball is regarded as annoying by people who don't know how to deal with him, this is a common occurrence. Ball is one of the most vulnerable heroes in terms of counters because he has enough decently common (and *easy* (see: hack, hinder, boops, trap, etc.)) counters to fill an entire team, meaning ball gets shut down the moment the enemy decides to win, and since most of your balling skills are useless on other tanks, you're either a no-life tank player who's mastered ball and is decent with other tanks you can swap to or a ball practitioner who can only win against people who don't actually try to beat you.
Ball is the strongest hero in the game until the enemy decides that they'd rather not deal with you, at which point you can either swap or say "F it, we ball."
@carlbot2 ok but the thing is, the vast majority of people trying to play ball are not decent ballers and just end up feeding ult charge or having virtually no impact at all, effectively leaving the match at 4v5. Seriously, for every 1 decent ball player, I see 9 terrible ones that probably thought that since metal rankers couldn't deal with them, they'd be able to cut it in diamond+

Stevoo, who was top 500 on symm since 2017 is stuck in low masters on symm with 42% WR. Symm is the worst hero
Doom atm is like playing on permanent 700 ping, the two different punch bugs feel like they affect maybe 80% of punches if you try use him correctly (playing around cover, since the existence of walls is what sets off the bugs), and slam doesn't come out from where you actually land and locks out your camera turn too early so regularly misses.
Give him like 2 patches (one for them to claim they fixed it but make it way worse, then one to actually sort of fix it but permanently ruin some old tech as collateral, such is the way) and he's gonna be crazy good with how brawl-y the new health is and with passive shield generation bypassing the dps antiheal.
The bugs are actually tilting this season and it’s annoying

About zen. I think he’s so OP now, that it’s in itself a very good argument for Sombra. With her virus he immediately gets the DPS passive nerf, plus the damage+width buff on her shots makes it easier to hit him.
Id been playiing a whole lot of sombra last season, only came back for like the last 2 weeks though, but she just "feels" way better now. Maybe its because my virus and magdumps are easier to hit consistently - that and hitting a virus means a super long debuff and that is tassttyyy
Sombra tracee shreds weak supports. By weak I mean healers that don't have a good way to run away or not immediately die to a flanker
I like how they wanted characters to not have to rely on the team as hard as they used to but ruined flank styles for Hanzo and Junkrat. Like I feel bad for the people who actually enjoyed those playstyles because before you could play either flank or frontline spam. Now it feels like both those characters are actually just spam characters.
But interestingly enough because Hanzo fires logs and has the cooldown on Storm Arrows reduced he's doing fine.
I’m ngl Junkrat should not ever be better than niche. One shots and spamming should never combined and I’m glad the devs made junk ass this season

The fact you feel the need to hate on Junkrat reeks of metal rank, inexperience, and skill issue, because if you knew just how bad Junk was even before they nerfed him into the ground, you'd agree that he is one of the heroes in most dire need of a buff/rework.

There's better ways to balance characters by giving reworks or changing their timings.

Seeing most of the supports immediately go into the top tier was very amusing and very not surprising
i kind of wonder if it's just because each person's tierlist is seen through the eyes of their own primary role (for Eskay that'd be support). I like Metro's tierlist a lot better, and he rightfully puts certain supports low on the list. In the eyes of a DPS, it's easier to see which supports are easy to kill and don't provide you as a non-support with as much value.

@@veenasacrificedhercup9385 nah I wouldn’t say broken. They’re now even with DPS, with tanks being the ones who get shafted. Due to the new DPS passive, supports are forced to healbot a lot more. For example, you can no longer run to flank as Kiri, because even if you do, and manage to get the kill (which is harder now due to health buffs), your team will have died. You now can’t be a DPS Bap or Kiri, as you’re forced to pick between damaging the opponents or healing your team, but since healing is harder now, you’re unable to do both like you used to.
@360noahscope they somehow manage to shaft tanks even harder. I think tanks should not be affected by the passive, or it should be like 5% instead of 20%

As a master pharah 1 trick I can confidently say pharah is slept on and one of the strongest characters atm. Problem is no one knows how to play the new pharah. She’s gunna be meta I PROMISE!
I liked her better before, the dash is nice but the rest of the changes ain't it.

Junkrat has been reduced to spamming which is such a shame. Double/triple mine is suicide, combos/airshots leave the target with 10 hp, and that makes a competent pharah or echo very difficult to deal with. Hopefully he gets some changes again soon 🤞

Dva is like she's been the last several seasons. Great on her strong maps. Great when you need to peel for your team a lot. But sometimes.....she's just useless at anything more than enabling your DPS.
Pharrah I think people just need to figure her out. Kinda how half the community thought Sombra's rework was bad at first. It's gonna take time.
On DVA I'm finding I'm not able to go in and burst down squishies so much now, often getting melted in the process.
As you say, staying with your DPS and enabling them seems more effective now. You also need more patience and teamwork to secure kills.

@@abudgie6909Going by my last few games, Winston vs DVA seems to be balanced pretty well right now. Ive struggled against a few good Winstons, but some ive been able to burst down in or outside their bubble if ( I win the shield danceoff!) or else I just chase and burst down.
Both characters with lots of mobility, can be a fun matchup!

I can't speak for Top500, but I honestly think the new Pharah is very good depending on the map. There are maps like Dorado which have been really heavily associated with Pharah because of good verticality and cover where she is now a really bad pick, but I think she can still be pretty dominant on Control maps. Jet Dash and Concussive Blast (along with the faster rate of fire) can allow you to very quickly dive, kill targets and escape through chokes in places like the mega rooms on Nepal Sanctum. It's very situational because you need to have geometry that lets you get close before diving without them being able to see you, so it's a very different play style to old Pharah and heavily map dependent, but when it works it's strong.
I really like it, idk how I managed before the rework it just seems more natural.
Still getting used to the new fuel system tho.

Pharah is actually feeling so good right now for me. I’m a pharah main and her rework is a little weird to get used to, but because she doesn’t have to rely on mercy anymore she is really good for flanking. Her new ability gives her much better movement. I’ve been getting at least an average of 30-40 kills as her even with games I struggle on. Also the projectile size and speed projectile changes make aiming with her a lot better. Hitting someone mid air isn’t as much of a nightmare as it was before.
Maybe it’s because I’m in lower ranks but if you do good on pharah, they’ll counter you and hyper focus you to the point they don’t even pay attention.
trying to play junkrat this season is genuinely so depressing, even if i win i feel an emptiness that cannot be fed because i'm not able to get those sweet combos anymore
Thank you Eskay for giving the massive Junkrat nerf some attention. Seems the entire community is oblivious to how bad he is now. Only thing more frustrating than your favorite hero being nerfed is no one acknowledging it.

I mean its just my personal anecdote but I think new Pharah is insanely strong as long as you play her literally nothing like Pharah used to be played. The reduced self dmg from rockets + the 250 hp + the fact that she has 4 different mobility cooldowns means you can play her like a real dive dps. She always has a way in and out. The key with new Pharah is not to hover around. Its okay to be on the floor. Use the cooldowns to execute dives then jiggle corners on the floor during the neutral. I think shes actually OP I have 100% winrate so far with her. Zen orb and discord are now better than Mercy pocket on Pharah
Its crazy how you have come to the polar opposite conclusion as Metro, I feel like that's a sign this season will be a bit of a wild ride when no one can really agree on what's good, what's going to be meta, etc.
As a metal rank Rein’s bad/maybe worse here too. Unhinged reins be charging across the map and blaming supports because not even double pockets can save them from the dps passive
I feel like the perception of all top ranked youtubers seem to be well aligned. KarQ also "ranked" the heroes in a similar manner (Not in a tier list, but an overall evaluation of the state of the game), so that seems to be a rather accurate rating

Been playing hog for pretty much all my tank placements and i immediately felt the difference in how hard it was to make anything work. Take a breather especially feels absolutely worthless when in a fight at all, lowers damage taken but the dps passive makes it so the healing i get is next to nothing. Even as an 800hp character i just feel so petrified of exploding immediately lol. Hooking is a bit easier at least but securing a kill off it is much more difficult and risky without pigpen. Im no top player or anything but ive played the character around 1200 hours because he is my fav tank and has been since the very start of OW1 and it has never felt this hard lol. Also your assumption was correct i got flamed every single game as well lol.
Tanks in low ranks blow up even faster. It might not make a huge difference in high elo (because of good positioning), but because of the DPS passive it is way harder to make up for your tank's bad positioning
in metal ranks all the "bad" tanks are still strong cause bad target priority is going on often, I'm not excluded from that statement xD
So sad about the Hanzo change. I’ve spent over 75 hours grinding Hanzo to improve my aim and finishing skill. I was finally getting good at him, but it’s not rewarded anymore. I just do not agree with the dev’s direction/choice to lower the game’s skill ceiling. More skill expression is always a good thing, and this ain’t it.
I was taking the most absurd aggressive off angles with Zen last night and absolutely shredding people. He's sooo fun rn, and borderline dumb tbh.

@@anettelma123 yes, and you should learn to read, to simplify it it means +0.1 meters of size for projectiles that have a speed higher than 50m per second, it is a way to categorise wich projectile got buffed based on their speed, the faster got less size buff, slower got more size buff
The new DPS passive alone feels as though it was already a good solution to the fear that nothing was going to die. The sweeping bullet size changes just feel like a knee-jerk overreaction

rein in metal ranks is good, i’m plat on tank and for the most part unless they hard counter i can just walk main and swing. i have no doubt that high gameplay rein sucks for most people, but lower rank he’s good cause people don’t know how to avoid him
Honestly zen being meta rn has been pretty fun thus far haha. Ik he’s very beefy with crazy dmg. But he’s pretty killable but also defends himself really well
14:58 well if they go double hitscan then you just can't fly around the map you can still do your dives and poke them from range same with d.va you can also beam her down through matrix so idk
I don’t normally play zen, especially not in ranked for my skill set, but for my placements he heckin boosted me for reaaaaaaaaaal 😅
Plat Mauga main perspective. He's my go to counter dive pick and because dive is so Meta I've actually been winning lots with him. Charge slam DVA/Winton when they're on my backline, overdrive can save a squishy getting dove as long as they hit their shots, getting burns from poking distance setting off the DPS passive. Your teams support picks def matter but like you said bad positioning is so punishable not even bap /kiri can save you. As long as you dont get caught in the open without your charge he's been much harder to play but I still have a high pick/win rate on him this season.
Reinhardt + Lucio is the best combo in the game to negate the DPS passive. Reinhardt is very strong ONLY if paired with a Lucio who speeds him at the right times.

Zen is also the second if not first best hero in the game. He isn’t a glass cannnon anymore and has become just a monster. I’ve seen multiple teams already in gm using zen as the tank while the actual tank is supporting the zen😂 it’s insane
I'm metals, but I'm having the best Pharah gameplay I've ever had. She's just different. I couldn't figure out how to play her before, but this kit makes sense. It's probably because I tried playing like this in her old kit.
She's like...a slower, flying S76 I guess? Shoot and scoot.
I only played some Pharah yesterday and she feels just terrible. The best way I found was just to stay on a high-ground, float a few meters into the air, shoot a rocket, likely miss since you don't have the same height advantage anymore, and go back behind cover before you explode to hitscan heroes, which counter you even harder than before. The faster rockets don't help to much, as you have to shoot them almost horizontal alot of the times. Feels like using the direct hit from tf2, which is the worst rocket launcher.
Trying to use mobility to go in or flank just got me killed as I would need it to go back out but now it's on cd.
Would it really hurt to give her rocket launcher some meaningful knockback so I can just rocket jump farther than 2 meters? So I don't have to rely on stupid cooldowns for much needed mobility. It already has tradeoffs built-in as you trade ammo and health for quick mobility.
Being a reaper main in this update is so satisfying in the metal ranks because of the crazy high self sustain and the tank destroying damage output close range. Being a tracer main is also very enjoyable now that I don't randomly get one tapped by half the heroes.

I’m like a plat player I didn’t see mercy AT ALL for the first 2 days so I decided to play her I think she’s fine personally but if they have a winston it’s kinda over unless your teammates are in good fly spots. You just can’t pressure a winston to leave you alone. I will say you do need to know how to use your gun if a tracer dives you which is easy now cause you shoot out school busses with every bullet up close. I won 1 and lost one and they were both kinda close? I see a lot of healers lately only heal tank cause they can’t get them full anymore please don’t do that ik dps have the healing passive now but if you can heal them until they at least get behind cover to safety please do, I’ve lost so many games because the healers think someone has to be full hp to win. And I also see a lot of kirikos heal botting your dmg does way more use it :3
im so glad you said pharah was terrible, im also someone who played a buncha pharah without mercy and she feels so bad now. like i def am not used to the fuel rework but i found part of the fun of pharah was managing your fuel and seeing how much you could stay in the sky and that feels gone
My very first game on pharah, I walked out of spawn, tried to fly around the edge of the map and immediately fell to my death because you can no longer hover. It feels so bad.
Lmao, skybox andies malding a lot i see. Before rework she was, like, the only F tier character in the entire game. Now she's still not good, but miles better than she was.

So I play for varsity level high school esports team, and our tank plays ram and doom, but he had an idea to simply get the tank of the other team out the game as soon as possible, so he went hog, he'd hook them into pig pen, I'd throw a discord, ana would throw anti, and we had a bastion reaper, their team couldn't follow up to save their tank, so hog can work if you have a coordinated team
I've had my best success so far with Reaper/Soldier/Mei, had to drop boy Junk from my main rotation 😭they did my boy wrong. We just wanna make stuff go boom dammit 🤣. Honestly aside from some crummy games I'm enjoying the new patch and feel like at least my games feel a lot less like a straight roll. Had several that started that way but were able to have huge comebacks, even meeting a few more friendly players than usual thankfully ❤

Which is why this will age horribly. All of the supports sitting in the top tier doesn't make any sense. Mercy and Moira in bottom tier looks horribly off as well, but it's because this is based on speculation not actual gameplay. People speculated Hanzo is dumpster tier, but with Mercy boost he's incredible right now. Moira is tough against the health pool increase, but she's great in a role where she's flanking with the current dive meta to destroy the support backline. Brig? Who is she even whip-shotting consistently to keep up inspire right now?
Tanks are just perma stuck in a rock-paper-scissors meta. There's no way blizz can balance tanks in was satisfying way in OW2 and it honestly makes me want to quit. Playing tank feels worse than ever and I yearn for a main tank friend

This is why I play open queue. Admittedly though im losing a lot of games in bronze because my DPS would rather watch me 1v2 tanks instead of swapping

i used so be a parah main ageesss ago but i was playing her before the patch and i had abt 90% airtime and 60% direct shots but new pharah i struggle to get above 70 and becuase of her shot speed buff it feels so weird to play, i find myself missing so much because of how fast the rockets are
I understand that you are better than me at every single role and character in this game, but I'm just not in agreement with the tank portion of this tierlist.
Maybe at the highest of high levels the game is just that different, but I disagree with almost very single placement.
Otherwise the DPS/support stuff seems solid (except maybe pharah as I don't think people have had enough time to adjust their playstyles to truly see where she's at ATM).

Reaper is S tier right now, the DPS is just so much more consistent than before, especailly against small targets.
Speaking of overwatch being in a counter swap meta I'm just curious why in almost every single match since even before the update do ENTIRE teams counter swap genji I'll get 1 kill in the first team fight and the whole enemy team comes back swapped to Moira zen Mei sym zarya and hard focus me until I quit or swap they will throw ENTIRE MATCHES just to chase me down and hit me with stuff I can't block they can be at the very end of the map and they will chase me back to their own spawn just to get me it's wild and happens even when I have another teammate popping off and being way more of a threat yet I still get hard focused
cass is so strong right now, its like with echo but for tracer, you play 1 round and they insta lock in cass to ruin your fun for the rest of the game
I think the pharah changes are kinda sleeper change. I alternate between plat-diamond so I'm mid ranked, but don't play enough to not re-learn fast and I'm able to clear out lobbies when I catch a groove.
I think what she needs is a quality of life buff to the jetpack: I think she should be allowed to semi-glide when 0 fuel, I think she should still have 20%-50% fuel regen in air instead of 0%, and I think she needs a slightly smaller hurt box because she's so punishable especially now.

Muaga in metals is crazy and i hate being in elo hell
I played two matches as queen, rolled by a mercy pocketed hog, and rolled by an orisa. Just couldn't seem to secure kills on supports by myself even with landing knife into headshot into melee and axe is just annoying to hit. Seems like it isn't even worthwhile most of the time, especially against the hp buff when you factor in the wind up, how obvious it is, and how little range it has for its mediocre damage and healing.
My feeling right now is that they need to buff coal and damage orb for my girl Moira. Squishies are beefier now and she only got a buff on her right click to compensate. Trying to make a flank work is way harder and people are hitting more shots. Buuut is probably an adaptation thing, she's very survivable still, can cleanse herself and such. Gonna keep playing her and see if I can hit diamond.
I saw KarQ and ML7 do8ng just fine in GM lobbies with Moira. I think she is super good in any context that isn't at the absolute top of the skill curve. Lucio/Moira with either a Ramattra or JQ goes pretty hard. Yeah, Baptiste is usually just better, but Moira can keep up.

It is still possible to 1 shot with Junk. Throw the mine, shot grenade, melee, explode mine. Then you 1 shot 250 targets. Unfortunately it is very hard to pull of 😢
I am a diamons 1 junk back in season 8, i fell like in this season i can finally get into masters with junk. My as, blizzard got other plans and destroyed junkrat, now i can only play junk in some maps and spamming the 90% of the time. Spots are becoming useless unless you are going with rip, but oh, now you have to explode rip more into enemies bc they are not dying if not. I hope that the comno comes back or junk get something like an new ability / other mine bc for one tricking junks like me( 250 hours) is not easy and funny to continue playing him.
How many of your games with hard comms? Last I checked you were in a 4 stack. No idea why moira is so low in your list when shes been in nearly every ranked GM game I'm in (Asia).

honestly i feel like kiri is not good this season. there is no reason to play her except as a ana counter pick. her healing isn’t that good and you can’t make the same flank plays as you used to be able to

As a D.Va main, I can roll an entire team until they start counter-swapping. Suddenly, it becomes much harder to win and my teams become more toxic for not swapping. Definitely, not the easiest character to play right now
I haven’t watched this yet but I’m going to predict that Kiriko is gonna be kinda trash since they buffed everyone’s health and they minimized her kunai size and the dps passive negates her healbot strat

just started playing again since ow1 only gold 2 but since changing the health, to get picks as kiriko u actually need good aim big L cant flank unless I know ima hit the two headshots body shot
Junkrat projectiles are not larger. He was the only hero not given larger projectiles. They state that they reduced their size in the patch notes. So the character who’s most difficult to land shots is the only who isn’t easier to hit shots….could someone explain that to me? Because I know Blizzard can’t. He is complete trash now. Very sad.

zen is crazy i got to diamond only playing zen in my placement matchups by just rolling the lobby
Anyone ele have games where you either get rolled for like 3cgames straight the absolutely reck the enemy team on tge next? The whiplash of this update is so so jaring, played 30 games went 12/18, not saing oh im so good its the dps fault, but being rolled is so frequent now
