Let's hope the idiocracy of right wing grifters, Snyder stans and toxic fandom will not start second-guessing, review bombing or bad-mouthing a truly brilliant and aspirational film into a box office flop. Much as I liked the Snyderverse which was DC's only game in town for a while, Cavill was not Superman but a Kryptonian superhero. Cabill, as charismatic a player as he is was wasted by Svyder not allowing him to embody the empathy, joy and compassion which make Superman the greatest superhero in comics history, vital qualities which Gunn has most apparently invested the Corenswet Superman with, the first with Christopher Reeve vibes! I can't wait to see this billion dollar movie!!!! BTW, only Gunn can pull off Krypto!
And the average movie goer is who this promo needs to appeal to for Superman to be the size hit DC needs for this cinematic universe to truly take flight.
Well probably they want families with children to watch this film, even David Corenswet explained that the reason he insisted on the Trunks is that he wants kids to not be afraid of Superman so he kinda dresses like a professional wrestler. So definitely they want more families to watch this. And it's actually good that they're bringing back the family aspect in superheroes and not just target middle aged single people who always take themselves serious.
Gunn did something weird by stating that the suicide squad and Peacemaker season 1 (except for some parts of the finale) are canon, with creature commandos confirming that it takes place 2 years AFTER the suicide squad, as long as any project within this new universe doesn't feel like homework like what Marvel has been doing post-endgame, we are good. If we do the math, this Superman is in his third or fourth year of active service since Creature Commandos established that the suicide squad took place two years prior. In that movie, Amanda mentions that Bloodsport sent Superman to the ICU with a kryptonite bullet. The upcoming Batman Brave and the Bold movie will feature the caped crusader and his son, Damian Wayne, meaning that this Batman has been around for roughly 10 to 20 years. On the one hand, it is good that they are not doing ANOTHER origin story, but on the other hand, newcomers could be overwhelmed. I only hope Gunn & Co know what are they doing with this
The continuity is already a mess for a "reboot" where the first film hasn't been released yet, if you don't count The Suicide Squad. But since that film is canon, the DCU is already at a disadvantage. Gunn should have started with a clean slate.
@@DeathFORcameO For a interconnected cinematic universe it matters. Especially since that's how it was pitched and advertised by Gunn himself to general audiences.
While I'm sure this DC Universe won't be my favorite interpretation of the comic book mythos and its characters, since I love the grounded take the DCEU started out with, I do really appreciate that the world of the DCU isn't meant to be our world, but an alternate world with its own unique look, style and culture, giving it the freedom to just have fun and do a lot of fantastical worldbuilding.
I think the teaser was good in showing us the tone of the film. I’m definitely curious to see how it unfolds. The only real concern I have is that I’m hoping it will have its own style, not a rehash of the Reeve movies or the Marvel films.
So Gunn should change colour grading based on your personal opinion? Its a COMIC BOOK movie - the org comics had really vivid colours - you can't moan about not having an original score and then complain when the visuals are different 🤔🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for your review on the teaser trailer for Superman 2025. Overall, I like the teaser trailer. I will be watching to see how the film turns out 💙❤️🔥 I like Man of Steel ❤️💙🔥
I have mixed feelings about this trailer. Some of it looks incredible, but some of it looks a bit off. Hopefully the final edited movie will look great throughout.
Superman is inspired by his silver age version which has alot weird elements like kaijus the cinematography doesnt look try hard it looks real. Superman does have its own score
Krypto the dog saves THIS trailer ... I hope the film is an success, but this trailer has the feeling of TV level production to it and not DC Comics re-launch high streaks
Ugh I hate that u fell into the trap of trashing MCU when discussing DCU. I just don’t get it- not necessary especially since a lot of us are loving Deadpool & Wolverine, Guardians3, Shang Chi, Wakanda Forever and X-men 97 and Agatha all along (lots of good stuff in phase 4&5!). Can we just stay on topic and not try to pretend MCU ever fell as low as DC did, they haven’t!
I didn't trash the MCU (as a whole)... at all. I spoke about specific comic book universe movies from both the dceu and mcu. Hell I didn't even list specific examples. I liked most of the movies you just listed actually. I'm just giving a subjective opinion on the state of universe movies as a whole. While I like some of them there's some I haven't liked. Consistency is the word that comes to mind, and if you know me and my content, you'll know I've gravitated more towards the separated comic book fair. That doesn't mean you can't feel differently about it. Just sharing my own opinion. And again, I didn't single out MCU, I just said my thoughts towards both the DCEU and MCU as a whole in recent years.
@ appreciate the response. I don’t know u and not that familiar with ur content, as I’m just getting to know u, and I’ve liked ur content thus far. Just was annoyed, as were talking about the DCU, u start taking shots at the MCU- wasn’t necessary or even needed it didn’t enhance any point u were trying to make instead u were coming off as ‘yet another negative MCU/Disney guy’. There’s no shortage of that kind of negativity these days some of it warranted and some just because it’s the thing to do. Even if u honestly feel that way I don’t think it needed to be said in ur DCU video. It turns out ur not so against projects in Phase 4&5 as u pointed out in ur detailed reply. So that further irritates me cuz u liked a lot of the projects but casted this blanket dissatisfaction. U didn’t harp on it just in the intro basically I replied in real time so glad that wasn’t a main part of ur video.
For me the use of John Williams score is indicative of Gunn's inability to look and move Superman forward. Nothing about this trailer looked or felt unique. I keep waiting for a WOW moment and after the trailer, I'm still waiting.
@DeathFORcameO Then why didn't Zack Snyder use it? Because he wanted his Superman to fly on his own. I thought Gunn did to but why come up with something unique when you can settle for nostalgia? We saw how well it worked for Superman Returns.
No it didn’t, it had a lot of its colour muted in post - save for some scenes where it looked amazing (the scene where Faora takes Superman and Lois up to the Kryptonian ship for example) however, I really dislike his suit here, its vibrant but the material of the suit and high collar just look awful, I don’t know if it will be tweaked further before the release of the actual film, but I doubt it. The Movie is going to have to be seriously good and if a sequel gets greenlit that suit needs serious reworking. *sigh* I’m tired 😌
Sorry, I should’ve been more specific. I was referring to the design…how well fitted it was on Henry and not baggy. A lot of people were saying that they will fix David’s suit in post when they saw the onset photos but clearly we can see nothing’s been changed with the design or how it fits him or they didn’t iron out all the baggy parts because I’m sure it would be a ton of work to do that in post.
IT IS SO Laughable , really, it is so bad, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for KIDS UNDER 16 MIGHT LOVE IT , BUT Any one or most people over 16 will find it WEIRD
it's so bad, so awful, the CRINGE, THE CHEESE , THE Old fashion LOOK to it don't work , it too CAMP AND BUBBLE GUM Looking , like a made up PLASTIC WORLD that looks SO FAKE , like the brandy bunch TIMES
What are your thoughts on the teaser trailer for James Gunn's Superman movie?

Good start, I hope the masses appreciate the comic accuracy of the tones and vibes, but I worry it will be lost on the average moviegoer
And the average movie goer is who this promo needs to appeal to for Superman to be the size hit DC needs for this cinematic universe to truly take flight.
Very fair take, some are trying to be too negative or too positive, it was solid but the colors are just off to me, like a kids movie or something

Superman's theme should not change ngl. To have a steady identity for Superman.

I'm still not convinced about David Corenswet but i can already feel Rachel Brosnahan has more vibes than Amy Adams.
I don’t know how I feel about it. The suit needs work. I will have to see to be sure. I will hold hope
Krypto the dog saves THIS trailer ... I hope the film is an success, but this trailer has the feeling of TV level production to it and not DC Comics re-launch high streaks
Eh I’m just gonna watch it to see David Corenswet shirtless lol I’ve heard he’s ripped now.
Hear, hear! Gunn better provide the goods.
So this is going to start a bunch of movies that will lead to an Avengers Endgame type movie?
They currently don't have a Justice League type team up movie. I reckon It'll depend on how these first few DCU movies will be recieved.
What's with the hairy dog ?
It was never all hairy.
This is not TINTIN !
Can’t please everybody

Nope, it's cheap and bad like I knew it was going to be.

John Williams theme is like a James Bond theme, why change it for the sake of uniqueness? It is special as it is.

Looks like a little kid movie. Man of steel was awesome. I like cavil.
So a perfect Superman movie then
What's wrong with a family friendly Superman?
You hate kids? Superman should only be for middle aged depressed dudes? What a weirdo.
Did they make superman gay?
Yeah Lois Lane is a dude now
4:40 my dude, Henry's suit looked exactly like the set photos in the finished film lol
