- The 2014 Eurovision Song Contest took place in Copenhagen, Denmark and was won by Austria's Conchita Wurst. The victory was headline news around the world.
The Grand Final of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest took place on 10th May 2014. The slogan for the event was #JoinUs which was an attempt by the producers to incorporate social media into the shows.
Rise Like A Phoenix
Austria won the 2014 contest with Rise Like A Phoenix, performed by bearded drag queen Conchita Wurst. Immediately after her victory Conchita became a household name. The Netherlands finished in second place with Calm After The Storm performed by The Common Linnets, which became a big hit following the contest.
37 countries competed in the competition in 2014
195 million viewers tuned in for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.

Aleksander Pagels the one that premiered yesterday.
They're not really doing it for quality, they are doing it every Saturday so people across Europe can relive the shows because 2020 was cancelled. They also have a revote for a new Set of results you can find on Twitter
2014 was really one of my favorites years. Such a good show, awesome stage, sweet postcards, San Marino and Montenegro in the final and so many amazing songs.

Me and my family will always remember this night! Watching together Eurovision as every year and then the bearded lady took the trophy back to Austria after 48 years! Some might say it is a corny event, but I see it as the one evening a whole continent is sharing the moment and celebrates together!

Holy crap! This Eurovision is real. I thought it was fake, but of course being in America, we don’t hear about this stuff. After watching the movie, I was just curious and typed it into the search just to see what would come up.. and WoW!!! Only to find out this is the real deal. I thought it was just a movie. Nice 👍

John Oliver talked about the hamster wheel, the Russian twins and Conchita Wurst on Last Week Tonight in 2014, when that show had become really popular, so I don't get why people are so surprised.

Personally, that year I loved the designing of the show (postcards, point presentation, interval acts, logo), but I felt like the presenters and most of the songs were not that great..!

this is the best win ever! how amazing it is that just the simple freedom to be yourself and getting validation for it (something a lot of us experience everyday without even trying and take for granted) can make someone so happy. her tears of joy made me cry too. she achieved so much more than only winning a song contest on that stage. happy pride month!

2014 is already commercially available on DVD. This is not new to anyone. The most valuable thing the EBU can do is to release the pre-2004 Contests, which have never been made available officially.
