Awesome work! For filing on a radius, try reversing the technique: start with the tip of the file down, and lower the handle end during the stroke, so that you end with the tip up. Makes a nice smooth radius with no flat spots (although I'm sure your stuff doesn't have flat spots anyway!)
Watching you and every other apprentice smith testing for journeyman constantly remind me that I still have so far to go in my skills. Good luck at the show
Always a pleasure to watch a true craftsman at work. The knife is beautiful, obviously, but the reveal of the finished piece was also great video work. Nicely done!
Great job on the knife, the camera work is nicely done, but you should get a mic so the volume doesn't need to be constantly adjusted. Love the channel though!
Great videos! Very informative, and the camera work really adds to it too. What would be your suggested/preferred steels for some different applications...a few suggestions for knife blades, axe heads, hammers? Would you consider doing a video on that?
Wow just amasing work whith that but lollll😂👍🏼 Just one thing i would of done is to put a mask on when charpening the knife 😬. Whith the view under when charpening you see all of the metal dust 🤭😱. Other than that you are the man to go to for blacksmithing 👍🏼🇨🇦
MAAAAAN that bad boy is slicker than two buttered ninjas. This was a nice watch, I just uploaded a video of taking a less refined blade from beginning the rough grind to the quench. One day I expect I'll have the skills developed to pull a blade that fine off.
Best of luck at Blade. I hope to be there in 2021 for my Journeyman Stamp. Would be 2020 but I am planning on going to my 50th-year high school class reunion and I can only afford 1 trip a year. But then I am an old fart living on a fixed income. LOL.
Nice piece of wood. Did you coat it with anything or just polish it? I do my Rosewood hand plane handles with mesh polishing cloths. They start at 1500 and step up about 11 times till finally get to 12000 mesh. Glass finish. I use shellac as they are just for show. The users get a more durable finish. Try the mesh cloths. They are available on ebay. They are 4"x3" and like 10 or 12 sheets of different grits. 1500-1800-2400-2600-3200-3600 etc up to 12,000. Its just amazing to see it gradually turn to glass. Some woods only benefit up to much lower grits like 3k but with a finish applied....glass it up to 12k.
Fantastic work Liam! If your other 4 knives are of similar quality (which I have no doubt they will be), then you will have no problem getting your J.S. rating. Be well.
Have you ever made a handle with spalded wood? or are handles made of spalded wood too weak? Hopefully you know what I mean cause I dunno how to spell that word and nothing comes up with autocorrect
Incredibly instructional - thank you!
They have already done a collaboration in the past. They collaborated on the khopesh build.
What a beauty!!!!!!! Your videographer is doing a phenomenal job!!!

Great job on the knife, the camera work is nicely done, but you should get a mic so the volume doesn't need to be constantly adjusted. Love the channel though!
