I love the original but this cover just hits different ❤️ Thank you Kelly, Thomo, and Georgia for sharing this
This rendition of this song is among my favorites ever and I’m old. !!!!!
they're brilliant. been a fan since the first record. obsessed.
I love the lyric changes so much, they resonate a lot with me i think it was a great choice!
I THOUGHT I heard a change of lyrics! Does anyone have a copy of the lyrics they created?
@@robhall3311 i love this cover so ive transcribed the lyrics - italicised bits are what they changed
I remember the sickness was forever
I remember snuff videos
Cold Septembers, the distances we covered
The fist fights on the beach, the _cops would_ round us up
Do it all again next week
An embryonic love
The first time _yeah it scarred_
Embarrass yourself for someone
_and you're_ crying like a child
And the boy who _took that from me_
Still bugs me now
That's the thing, it lingers
And claws you when you're down
I was far too scared to hit him
But I would hit him in a heartbeat now
That's the thing with anger
It begs to stick around
So it can fleece you of your beauty
And leave you spent with _naught_ to offer
Makes you hurt the ones who love you
You hurt them like they're nothing
You hurt them like they're nothing
You hurt them like they're nothing
See I spent my teens enraged
Spiralin' in silence
And I armed myself with a grin
'Cause I was always the _the joke yeah_
Buried in their humor
Amongst the white noise and boys' boys
Locker-room talkin' lads' lads
Drenched in cheap drinks and _white bags_
_that’s a_ mirrored picture of my old man
Oh God, the kid's a dab hand
Canny chanter, but he looks sad
God, the kid looks so sad
God, the kid looks so sad
She said the debt, the debt, the debt
So I thought about shifting _gears_
And how she _worked and worked and she worked_
_yeah_ luck came and died 'round here
I see _a_ mother
_centerlink_ sees a number
She cries on the floor encumbered
I'm seventeen going under
I'm seventeen going under
I'm seventeen going under
I'm seventeen going under
_i’m protected under covers then they treat you like your nothing
then you just become an number yeah I'm seventeen going under_
@@Alex-tl5fz Fantastic! Thank you so much for doing that!
Camp Cope 💜 just amazing female artists! Talented and so relatable. Such an amazing band to see live too! Big love to you all. Brilliant LAV 💙
As Georgia says the way this song resonated with women, my own daughters included, kinda scary but completely devastating, what a version for the ages, soooo sad that Camp Cope is ending but I have a feeling that is no where near the end for these ladies, such incredible talent and intelligence cannot be denied.
Such a great cover. Loved it.
Such a great song choice again 👌
i would give anything for a camp cope show in chicago or wisconsin 😢

Vive la masculinité
Bass lead….genius. It kicks. Better version!
Sadly missed
Singing a song, written by a man, and changing the lyrics to talk shit about men. Because that makes perfect sense...
Musically absolutely fantastic but the lyric changes are so bad. They just remove all meaning behind the original lyrics. Prime example gear being changed to gears. Guess that’s the danger when someone tries to cover when they don’t get the colloquialisms. So annoying because it’s a ridiculously good version but I struggle not to sigh about the lyrics!
Yeah it seemed like a few of the changes were more because they didn’t understand what it meant, also took away the harshness with stuff like changing fist fights to first time
Turned into a man hating song. Pffft.
Realize this comment is a year old now but I totally agree. Don’t mind them changing the lyrics per se but these were half-baked. Like what is “the first time on the beach / the cops would round us up / do it all again next week” supposed to mean now? And you Australianize/feminize the song but you leave “canny chanter but he looks sad” in? It’s the most Geordie line of the whole song!
🤣it's like she's stuck in the 50's. no one thinks these things about women except other women.
I enjoyed this cover, great voice and instrumentation... but, honestly, I thought changing the lyrics was a bit of a dick move.
