Welcome, welcome, welcome back~
I think this is my first video that actually gave me tingles while editing. Maybe it's because I'm finally used to hearing my own voice? lol. And the rain was so nice, I'm always a sucker for rain in ASMR videos, especially if it's subtle.
I just love books so much guys! I talk about so many in this video and it isn't even the complete list - I have so many fantasy books on my Kindle and I'm pretty sad I didn't get to ramble about them. Comment your favorite books down below!!
Also, second to last call for commenting your name to be included in my name-whispering video! I think next week's video will be a nurse/doctor roleplay... and then after that will be the name-whispering one. :)
Until next time.🖤

You are a superstar
Haha true
Kody Eldridge I literally clicked this video for the same reason 😂
Same
I cant unsee this
anybody else miss when the back of books actually had the summary of the book instead of reviews?
taijah arce they still do
taijah arce I think it depends on the book, but I’ve also noticed that. A lot of the time hard covers have reviews on the back, but they still have a summary in the inside cover. I really hate when paperbacks have reviews on the back though because then there’s nowhere to put the summary lol (but sometimes they put the summary on top and the reviews underneath which is fine).
Mine have blurbs, not reviews lol
@@Promthanius there really arent enough thin paperback nonfiction books with matte finishes, or glossy for that matter.
they tend to be 1. too thick, 2. dimensions make them more like cheap paperback novels instead of being wide and spacious, 3. glossy ones literally lose gloss to fast. 4. they dobt tend to stay open while reading. I love books I can open to a page and not worry about the book closing on me.
*technical* breakdowns of subjects as the *pop-sci* level, e.x. "learn xyz / subject 101" are fantastic.
Only trashy books have reviews instead of blurbs, youre reading the wrong sort of books if youre getting ones that only have review catch lines.
You should do a bookshelf tour!! I would love to see all the books you have 😍
Wow thats a really good idea! Def doing that in the future, thank you :)
@@SarahLavenderASMR yes please do!!
@@SarahLavenderASMR Wait... you're a bibliophile who can legibly fit your library into a half hour video?
Everybody saying Emma Watson but I see Natalia Dyer AKA Nancy Wheeler from Stranger Things
I was literally just thinking she looks like both of them!
Dude it's Gibi Jr
A combination of Natalia Dyer and Rose Byrne.
shes a mix of gibi asmr and emma watson
I once had someone stop me in public to tell me that I looked like Nancy haha
As a fellow booknerd who watches a lot of booktube, there NEEDS to be more bookish ASMR videos! Thank you so much for posting this, I hope you do more ☺️
Omg an ASMRtist that talks about books is the most awesome combination of two RUclips communities ever 😭🥰
I was told by an absolute authority that you are special and blessed. Nice one!
I don’t know why but she gives me a strong Hermione Granger + Amy Santiago vibe
Matheus Venancio OMG, me too! I thought it’s just me 😂
Absolutely YES!
I thought the same thing.
Spot on
Agreed .. I actually thought it was her for a brief moment .
I can’t help but hear uncle iroh’s voice anytime I hear someone say “jasmine tea”
"I know you're not supposed to cry over spilt tea, but its just so sad!"
Uncle Iroh 😎⭐️
Uncle ron here.....
Currently forcing my boyfriend to watch it for the first time. I’ve seen it over 4 times 😝
My favorite character for sure in ATLAB ... RIP Mako.
As I’ve gotten older, the Internet has become so distracting and addicting that I have stopped reading books. You make me want to read a book again! You make it look so relaxing.
Yay!!
So true. Sometimes u need 2 take a break from it every now n then. N go outside in nature. Mozart used 2 privately walk naked in garden to transmute the healing energy of nature.
Nah fam u can read a book online for free 2 my guy
@@ASMR-XI-ZUI that just sounds unsanitary
I get you! Sit down to research books that interest you, choose one (or five!) to get your hands on, keep it in a visible place that you reach for often and see if you can use some of that “mindless scrolling” time to read instead. It’s less intense than setting yourself a goal of reading for X amount of time or X pages a day if you want to get into it ✨ 📖
I searched for a list in the comments and did not find one. So here it is:
2:27 “The Princess Bride” by William Goldman
5:58 “Howl’s Moving Castle” by Diana Wynne Jones
8:46 “The Martian” by Andy Weir
( 9:46 “The Egg,” a short story by Andy Weir)
12:14 “The Poisonwood Bible” by Barbara Kingsolver
14:28 “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” by J.R.R. Tolkien (and anecdotally, the entire series minus “The Hobbit”-but skip the songs)
18:46 “East of Eden” by John Steinbeck
( 20:58 “Of Mice and Men” and “Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck)
21:23 “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini
( 21:41 “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini is her favorite book by this author)
23:08 “The Song of Achilles” by Madeline Miller
25:44 “The Bean Trees” by Barbara Kingsolver
27:42 “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind” by Yuval Noah Harari
How is her whispering so crisp snd clean sounding 😭 it is so perfect
Omg thank u Jessica 😭

POV: you came here knowing full well you would see a comment section full of Hermione comments
The comment below yours is in fact a hermione comment😂
I read so much as a kid. In middle school I read like all the Stephen King books (which maybe I shouldn't have as they're very adult). I think being a megareader sort of burnt me out. In college I was an English Lit major but ended up not finishing because it took a lot of the joy of reading out of it, having to *analyze* everything. I think it kind of broke my brain, I haven't read much in the decade+ since then! The series I guess closest to my heart are His Dark Materials and Anne of Green Gables, but I like kind of "misfit" books the most, like Chuck Palahniuk and Bret Easton Ellis, that was my post-college reading. Clive Barker is super underrated. Anyway, lovely vid, the rain sounds are subtle, page turning is nice when it's contextual (as opposed to just "30 MINUTES PAGE TURNING SOUNDS"), and of course the sounds and whispering are top-notch. Thanks, happy midsummer! (It's a thing here)
I was a STEM major so luckily reading has always stayed an escape for me. I can definitely see how constantly having reading for homework would burn you out. But yeah, I LOVE His Dark Materials and I’ve been meaning to check out Anne of Green Gables! Thank you for such a nice comment, happy midsummer 🌞
Similar experience, with getting a degree in English killing my desire to read for a full decade. The thing that finally snapped me out of it was listening to a radio program on a lazy summer evening about "The Wind in the Willows," which I'd never read as a kid (see archive.ttbook.org/book/annie-gauger-wind-willows). I decided to pick it up, and while it didn't become a favorite, suddenly I was a reader again. That said, a line from "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" sums up my lifetime experience: "Reading good books ruins you for enjoying bad books."
I feel a positive vibe about you. You have a kind, sweet demeanor and a calming voice. Keep going and doing things that interest you on your channel. It’s fun and appreciated. Cheers, SL!
Thank you :)
This appears like a brief marriage between the ASMR and Booktube communities, and I like that a lot. There is something appropriate about it. Keep on keeping on Sarah.
Thank you Greg ☺️
All books and authors I've been meaning to pick up, but you especially sold me on the Barbara Kingsolver books and East of Eden! Love this sort of crossover between ASMR and Booktube -- two of my favorite sub-communities on this platform. I could (and often do) listen to people talk about books for days on end, and turns out, it's even better when those discussions are deliberately quiet and tingly. ☺
Perhaps it was the books that first tipped me off to this, but you bear an uncanny resemblance to Belle from Beauty and the Beast! Disney missed a prime casting opportunity for their live action remake. Tsk tsk.
Will she want an adventure in the great wide somewhere, though?
Or Emma watson
The simp is strong in this one.

I'm four minutes in and I couldn't help leaving a comment already. Everything about this video is just so up my alley. The aesthetics, the sounds, TEA AND BOOKS! It's just so pleasant and soothing. So basically, I'm really happy I found this and you seem like such a sweet person and I look forward to finishing this video and discovering more :)
Thank you so much! Such a sweet comment. 💖
I love Howl’s Moving Castle! It’s a really comforting book to me - same goes for the movie 💖
I love your book asmr. You love books as I love books and it shows. There is no sound more comforting than the soft turning of pages.
It's a real life Belle from Beauty and the Beast! I swear I've seen her at Disney World :)
I swear, every asmrtist looks either like a model or actor, I caaaannnnn't how beautiful these people are 😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️
Same 😶
Ty u w8 till u c me. U will be starstruck. Trust me!
Love the whole aesthetic. The books + the sweater + the cat mug = sheer perfection 🥺
Loved Song of Achilles and the “sequel” Circe is outstanding as well
I loved it also!!
Sarah Lavender ASMR Since you said you’re interested in Greek Myth I’d recommend Stephen Fry’s Mythos if you haven’t read it. He brings humor and provides inspirations in our culture from Greek myths. The sequel covers the heroes (except the Iliad and the odyssey”
I LOVE The Princess Bride! My girlfriend got me the book for my birthday a couple years ago, and I totally thought everything outside of the book was autobiographical and everything between him, his wife, and their son in the book was real.
"found this at Half Price Books" well, I'm subbed. I absolutely love Half Price Books, unfortunately the closest one to me is a 4 hour drive, so anytime I'm at one, I make sure to buy in bulk haha
I love it too!! I always drop like 30-40 bucks there, which is like ... almost 10 books haha
@@SarahLavenderASMR yes! It's so easy to leave with so many books haha
Try thriftbooks.com they have super cheap!
Idk where you live Emanuel but they have always been able to deliver to my house and it’s not that much of an extra charge!
she’s like the cute quiet girl in class that engulfs herself in books, love it.
This definitely was me in high school haha
Pippi Longstocking, Ramona the Pest, Encyclopedia Brown.
The rain ☔️ in the background makes this extra, extra, extra tingly! Love it 💕
You just inspired me to impulsively buy Howl's moving castle, because I had no idea that there's a book too. It's without question my favourite ghibli movie but to this day I don't really understand how Sophie's curse worked and what actually happened in the end. I hope the book will help me understand and I can already tell that it will be dear to my heart as much as you said it is dear to yours. Thank you.
It’s a great book! But keep in mind that it’s very different from the movie. There’s also a sequel that features Howl and Sophie’s little baby :)
@@SarahLavenderASMR Yeah, while reading, I'm constantly replaying the movie in my head and spotting the main differences. I must say I was sad that my favourite Howl's movie quote "I give up. I see no point in living if I can't be beautiful" was not in the chapter six of the book :D.
Howls Moving Castle is one of my very favorite books of all time!! I honestly like it more than the film! It's so well written, and just an absolute blast to read!!
"I could go on and on and on about books." Yes, please do!
Books and Asmr at one video? Is this heaven??
Howl’s Moving Castle, East of Eden and The Song of Achilles are my all time favourite books too! You have good taste 😊
I’ve been having a really hard time lately, and this video has been the first thing in a while to make me feel calm and safe. Thank you 💜 Please make this into a series / show us more of your books.
Thank you so much Adriane ❤️ I plan on it!
I absolutely love when fantasy books have a map at the beginning too!☺️
I absolutely loved this. it reminds me of primary school when the teacher would read to us in circle time. Such good vibes. Thanks for this. Also you kind of look like Emma Watson haha.
Aw thank you!! And I get that a lot :)
@Trista Fravel shut up, or i'll change it into a penWas
@@SarahLavenderASMR Wow, I can't unsee it now 🤣🤣
I have watched “princess bride” movie for several times when I was little!🥰🥰🥰 You have such a nice whisper, by the way!😍🤩
I love mixing books and asmr, the books themselves make nice noises and I already associate reading with comfort :) I’d love for you to do more similar videos!
Thank you!! I definitely plan on more book videos :)
Every reader ever:
“The book goes into so much more detail than the movie”
they wrong because in the movie it has words and you can see what’s happening
Nessa's Pet Shøps you’re referring to visuals. internal monologue and emotion aren’t portrayed as strongly in film because you have to rely on dialogue and facial expression. not to mention background information from books usually doesn’t make the cut for a movie since the producers are on a budget, even though the events are considerably vital to characterization. if it starts as a book, then it will always be a more thorough version of the story because that’s the original source
@@nessaspetshops So you can fit a three day book into a two hour movie?
@@user-el6my6vi7p I write books, read books, and watch movies and I can say that True that the books has more details than the movies/series, but it's good If u can see them too. So it could be great If u first read the book and then watch the movie. This makes u feel like ur visions came real❤
I'm SO glad that I found this gem of a channel. You're amazing, loved the entire video! Please do more like these, with you talking about things that you like! 💖☺️☺️☺️
I subscribed on the strength of the first 30 seconds of this video alone. It’s crisp and ticklish in all the right ways. Perfect asmr content
Thank you so much! I’m slowly getting better at audio editing, so it’s nice to know it’s paying off ☺️
dude same, crisp and ticklish is the perfect description
I’ve been listening to only one ASMR youtuber for about two years and now it looks like I have another one, great video!
Wow, that’s an honor! Thank you :)
You know she's a real one when she agrees that the Hobbit movies are just straight up non-canonical and completely did the book dirty.
The best movie review I ever read came out after the third Hobbit film. It simply read, "Well, that's over."
"There is some good in this world" - you and what you put out there are surely are part of it.
Ooh that finger pad tapping on The Martian hardcover-divine :)
The last couple times I listened to this video I fell asleep while you were talking about Princess Bride (ironically that's a compliment), so I decided to come back and skip through the video to see what other books you chose. It made me so happy that you chose East of Eden 🤘🏾 That's my favorite book of all time.
You should definitely make a part 2. Seeing other people's book collections is always super dope.
I wish every day could be Story Time with Sarah Lavender!
The finger licking page turning combo is one of the best triggers ever.
I would love if you did a reading of just a bunch of short stories, ones like the egg I mean
That’s a great idea! I’ll have to look into copyright on that :)
I started it months ago, couldn’t quite finish it then, but I just finished East of Eden while I was camping outside of Eden, Australia.
I’ve never read a more perfect book in the time of my life in which I needed to read it.
TIL: There is a Princess Bride book. I wish I could have had Peter Falk read it to me at bedtime.
From one booktuber to an ASMR Artist... I love this video and would love a whole series of book tapping/book-related videos from you!
Thank you!! I definitely plan on making more book videos :)
Yay you did my idea! Thank you 🥰 Loved this, you have great taste. I've actually had Steinbeck on my to-read list for years so I might just have to bite the bullet now! And I wouldn't be mad at a part 2. 🙃
I did!! Thank you for the idea 😍 and yes, totally read some Steinbeck!
Struggling between falling asleep and watching the entire video 😋 The combination of book sounds, your whispering voice and the rain in the background made this a favourite! Subscribed, can't wait for more! 💫
Please do a part two of this! 😊
Waiting part 2. This kind of ASMR with books is absolutely magical.
And those big

bewitching eyes. I want to drown in this deep.
Greetings from Russia!
I love The Lord of The Rings also!! Those movies are my most watched trilogy.
Books and ASMR are two of my favorite things. There’s almost no videos out there with both, so THANK YOU so much for doing this awesome video. Subscribed :)
Thank you! I plan on making a few more related to books, since so many people enjoyed this one!
omg have you ever considered doing a Hermione Granger roleplay? I think you'd kill it.
I'd like to hear her do a British accent
why would she do a roleplay of herself?
And Nancy Wheeler 😁
I love reading. “The Silence of the Lambs”, then “Ben Hur”, then I’m doing LOTR. I read the Bible every day, focusing on Proverbs lately. 📚

Good taste in books tbh. Song of Achilles was spectacular and so was the follow-up, Circe.
Circe was excellent! Her writing style is unparalleled.
I just discovered your channel. Rain sounds and books are two of my favourite things. Thank you for your hard work.
Thanks Mark :)
I think it would be amazing if you read an entire chapter of Howls Moving Castle in whisper or soft spoken ASMR! :-)
Pouring rain, open window, blanket fresh from dryer, and Sarah Lavender asmr. Heaven

Yaaaaaaassss! You hinted at a book turning video a few weeks ago and its here! This was so good, Sarah. Thank you!
If you’re looking for something new, try the book “Wool” by Hugh Howey. It’s a 3 book series, followed by “Shift” and “Dust” and the world Howey creates is so descriptive and authentic. It wastes no time hooking you and I couldn’t put it down.
Thank you Nick!! And I’ve just put Wool down in my to-read on Goodreads! Thanks for the rec :)
LOTR, Howl's moving castle. Good collection. Some of my favorite. You have a great voice. Look forward to seeing you more.
Half-Price Books is a great store. Also remember most citie's public libraries have an annual sale, and you can pick up books super cheap if you find out when/where the annual public library sales are.
Goodwill stores to, which I haven't been to in awhile myself and I need to go soon.
I looove Half-Price! It’s also a better option for the planet, rather than buying new. So it makes the environmentalist in me happy too :)
I'm glad I stumbled upon this video, this was lovely
Book + Talking + Tea... You are a complete package... Thank you so much!!!!
I love the story The egg! Im going to buy the martian now, didnt know he had books.
You have such a calming and comforting voice
“I am drinking jasmine tea.” Iron would be very proud. 😌
Came for the books...stayed for the tingles. Nicely done. One can never go wrong with a good book...even a bad one isn't really bad if given the chance (sometimes).
Okay got a little bit too excited about The Poisonwood Bible considering it was a school assignment. Such a good book though! 🤩
This is the first video of yours I've seen and I already subscribed. I really hope you do more books! I want fantasy recs because I'm just now getting into the genre. There has to be an ASMR way to show off Kindle books. Bring up the cover page, then turn it off while you talk about it and do tablet tapping and sticky fingers. Mmm, that sounds so great. I'm a very proud kindle reader and would love to see kindle ASMR! 🤞🥰
I might just rent a bunch of the ones I have on Kindle from the library instead! DEF plan on a fantasy books video soon :)

Omg when RUclips recommendations actually work lol, this is great, your style and tone reminds me so much of Ashley Marie Asmr! Insta sub. I can’t tell you how much I like Asmrtists that don’t needlessly sexualize any of their content. *Please keep it up 😌😴
I just read East of Eden this year - absolutely phenomenal. The last few lines bringing everything full circle were so perfect! If you're looking for (even more) fantasy stuff, check out Joe Abercrombie. His characterization can't be matched in the genre. I approve of the Pilea in the background, by the way. They're so cute, lol.
East is Eden is just so beautiful! All the characters are so dear to me. And I’ve read the First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie and loved it! Though... the ending was so dark that it made me a little nervous to read this other stuff, haha. And thank you, it’s definitely my cutest plant :)
