Remember when we accused our teacher of always overanalysing literature? Well, I'm going to do the exact same stupid thing. It's time to talk about what happens in the music video. I have two takes on this. And I apologise if this offended anyone. Take 1 - They're in parallel universes where analogous events happen and sometimes influence one another's action, such as when Bohyung receives a letter from Boa. The café acts as a portal between worlds for which they walk through different entrances of the same shop. They meet one another and are shocked that they're not in complete control of their lives. End of story. Take 2 - Since there was never a scene where the two are together, it can be assumed that they have actually not met one another. Simply, they're in parallel universes where analogous events happen but the roles are switched are no actions are influenced by another one. While Boa's engaged in a relationship with someone Bohyung's developed feelings for in one universe, Bohyung's associated in a love affair with the same person in the other universe. (And this individual which we're talking about are not shown in this video.) Again, the café acts as a portal between worlds as for which they walk through different entrances of the same shop. Attached Boa walks into the world where another version of her is single and sees that Bohyung is with her companion. Likewise, Bohyung steps into the world where her counterpart is partnerless and sees that Boa is beside her significant other. They're both in shocked that the person they've fallen in love with has cheated on them despite the fact that these are two different cosmoses which they aren't aware of and their liaisons aren't ruined (or might not have been ruined yet) in their original worlds. (This narrative is even pushed stronger when we see at the end of the video that both are settling down next to a bunch of glass shards on the floor, indicating that both has dropped the wine glass.) The running montage shows that they are running in the exact direction and not the opposite of one another. Moreover, they live in the same house in different universes, which means they are running towards their supposed homes which are actually duplications of their initial ones but in the other cosmos. In the end, their positions have switched so that there are now two Boa's both residing in one universe and two Bohyung's in the other. If we want to go even wilder with this theory, it might be a possibility that this being that's currently in two affaires de cœur in two different locations is actually one and have knowledge about the café being a threshold between those locations. This might explain the plot hole that exists in this theory that Bohyung read the letter which was written by Boa, which was meant from this person but was then given away to Bohyung. (Let's just hope that was a nongendered letter.) It seems that the way this music video was filmed supports the first take more. Although I am more inclined towards my second take. Perhaps that wasn't actually the directors' intentions, however, it's the ambiguity of this video that makes it so open-ended and captivating. Here was my comment about the song...enjoyed the "overanalsys" of the video also... Very smooth, slow burn groove. Struck by the Jazzy guitar break about 1.35 or so. Some of the keys sounded really vintage (Yamaha DX-7? Had that 80's feel to me anyway), even the horn lines on keys. Nice bottom end on the Bass. Excellent on the lyrics - again - too. And we had the key change there towards the end, and you did not drive the chorus into the ground (I always like that, tho' I know you're "not supposed" to do it).

So you got me thinking when I read this comment last night, and this song has the 70's Soul slow burn vibe and I was trying think of what song...Funkadelic used synths like this in the 70's (Bernie Worrell was brilliant), Prince picked up on that, but the two songs that came to mind were Kool and the Gang "Summer Madness" & William DeVaughn "Be Thankful for What You Got" (just B3 & Keys on this one, but the guitar bit makes me think of this Keembo song)...check 'em out (you won't be sorry). BTW - since you like the synths on this one what about "Whatever" where I swear it makes the song just float.
